    Seacoast Roofing & Construction

After thrashing about with the start date for my roof project (roofing crew had truck trouble that…read morekept on being trouble) Seacoast managed to hire a father-son team to get the roof started. If these two had been able to do the job, I would be writing a 5 star review. They were not just roofers, they were Craftsmen. The Dad hurt himself, though, and had to leave the jobsite as it was, with his ladders and staging still in place. It took weeks for Seacoast to find someone to finish the job, and when they did, I was out of town, so I didn't get to see the work being done. When I got home I could see that the roof was finished. The shingling is fine, and--credit where it is due--there was no junk in the yard... the front and back of the barn were spic- n-span. No nails, no trash on the ground. Unfortunately, my gutters were full of construction debris, so I had to clean that out myself. And MEGA-unfortunately, the rotten roof decking-- **the reason I need a new roof in the first place**-- WAS NOT REPLACED. They put membrane and shingles over rotten decking, and weirdly-spaced old-build decking that clearly needed to be replaced. AND. The ladders that occluded my barn access and the staging were left where they were. You could see that someone started to take it down but they stopped. The Roof was done 25 September The ladders would still be there now if my stepson the carpenter hadn't come over and taken everything down himself on OCTOBER 27. (not Seacoast's fault, but the dumpster left considerable divots in my driveway. No plywood was used under the wheels, and it was there for 2 months.) Seacoast has been blasé about leaving that equipment in my way, and stopped replying to my texts. The 1 star is for the Father-Son team. Not happy about Seacoast's apparent indifference to quality and my desire for a clear driveway.

We had another great experience with Russell's Contracting. After Russell reconfigured our back…read morehall entrance into a mudroom/laundry ( by removing a useless closet) earlier this year, we asked them for ideas about a cabinet to increase storage and finish the room. We went to their showroom, and along with their designer, we picked out a hanging cabinet and set of drawers with a countertop in a complementary color. We thought we had a good idea of the outcome, but our vision was vague. When Max and Luis arrived, they talked to us about what we wanted for at least 45 minutes and then made smart, thoughtful, near-genius suggestions to improve the look. We thought the dryer plug wouldn't be an issue behind the countertop. They thought it would be the first thing people saw and would be the focus when they walked in. We agreed, and they built a wall to cover the outlet. They got the paint (wall and ceiling), built the most solid frame in the house, and matched it perfectly with the rest of the room. We joked that this is where we would go in a hurricane. If my Wife and I were judging the finished room from 30 feet, Luis would be looking at it with a magnifying glass, and Max would be looking at it with a microscope. Their attention to the smallest detail was astonishing. To the point where Max insisted on installing a 2-inch by 1-inch piece of trim in a place hidden from almost any view in the room. Everyone who has worked on our house with Russell's Contracting has been exceptional. You can stop scrolling for contractors; call Russell's.

Impossible to imagine a more dreadful business to work with than Russell's Contracting. Our condo…read morerenovation project was contracted to begin on April 1, 2024 (which it did) and conclude by May 31, 2024. At this writing (nearly 11 months later), the project is NOT COMPLETE. In fact, we finally had to fire them on December 23, 2024. Throughout, we were lied to by our Project Manager, Todd Holton, and never provided with any construction schedules, written change orders, or accurate cost adjustments. Having vacated our unit on March 31, 2024, for 12 weeks in order to give Russell's an opportunity to do the work, we returned on June 21, 2024, to a construction site in which we then lived for another 5 months. When we complained in writing on July 8, 2024, to Kyle Russell about Todd Holton and the lack of activity on our unit, Kyle was both dismissive of our complaints and told us any problems were our fault -- a notion that is both ridiculous and insulting. That was until August 5, 2024, when Kyle, Keith and Todd came to the unit to check things out. Not only were they shocked by how little had been done, Kyle finally figured out that Todd Holton is a scam artist who was ripping off Russell's and us. However, even this didn't light much of a fire under Kyle Russell. Having purchased a ventless fireplace on Todd's recommendation, Russell's installed it incorrectly and without the proper town permit. When this was pointed out to Kyle and Keith, they threw their hands up, said they couldn't install it, and walked away. They were fired a few days later. So, we still don't have a fireplace, our staircase is a mess, and 2 of our 3 bathrooms are only partially done. This work, above the sizable amount already paid to Russell's, is entirely on us. Shabby is the only word that describes the way Kyle Russell does business. He does NOT deserve your business. Contract with him at your peril.
