Since I worked on Quickbooks Mac, and Xero could only import a PC version, Elizabeth said she could handle the interim Mac to PC conversion. From that day on, all of my communication with Elizabeth was initiated by me. No progress reports and no questions from her. I pushed for 6 weeks to get the transfer completed, only to find out that there had been an error in the Mac to PC Quickbooks conversion, and Elizabeth had never checked the file before delivering it to Xero. In addition, Elizabeth had assigned an associate, someone I had never met, to go in and review all of the entries in Xero, without matching them against my original Quickbooks file. Neither Elizabeth nor her associate contacted me to ask about categorization of the entries, and mis-categorized about 50% of my entries for the year. Bottom line, I had to re-do an entire year's worth of entries in Xero. It would have been faster to do it all by hand initially. What troubles me so about this situation is the lack of communication. Elizabeth was constantly traveling and never reached out to ask me questions. She and her associate simply made decisions without consulting with me first. Her associate invested 27 hours re-doing the entires, when a simpler solution would have been to enter the totals from the Quickbooks file. Then again, she made a decision without consulting with her client. Elizabeth may be a good bookkeeper, but she is neither a good project manager nor a competent communicator.

In 2024 I used Dane Tax Solutions, and I had a pretty expensive and neglectful experience. They…read moretook my information and we filed an extension, which wasn't a problem. They suggested we'd work on our taxes again in July. After half of July was over and I still hadn't heard from them, I reached out and got a phone call back. They assured me they had everything they needed. Still, no work was completed. I reached out to them again in October, wondering what was up. Then, and only then, did they note that they had several things they needed. My husband and I scrambled to complete that documentation and provided it. Then they said they needed to redo my business documentation, although I've already filed it. I was in the middle of a time-sensitive build on our rental property (fighting to finish before the snow flew), so I just said, "fine, do it", but expressed my frustration that I would have been able to address anything they needed had they identified it in July. Again, no completion, so I reached out in early November because the November 15 deadline was looming. They said they were so busy with the taxes due in October, that they couldn't finished mine then. Finally, they got them done just before November 15. In the end, I had to pay for personal taxes and business taxes being redone, but also had to chase them down to get them to talk to me and give my returns the attention they deserved. Your experience may not be this bad, should you choose to use them. For what it's worth, I will never give them my business again.
