The area was nice and there was plenty of area for the dogs to potty. Our room was cleaned and it was a bonus to have a working pool. Now for the aspects that were lacking... weed was being smoked in the stairwell so we had to walk through that. The jacuzzi hasn't worked for a month.. they are awaiting a part and it had a gross film/sludge on the water.. they really needed to drain it. I called prior to arriving and asked specifically if the jacuzzi was working and they said yea.. only to be told nope once we arrived. The pool was overchlorinated. Bottom line clean beds/rooms and affordable price with pet accommodation and working pool.

Evidence of past bed bugs (droppings on walls) Dusty, dirty, dingy, with stains and disrepair throughout. For the price my hopes weren't high and they still failed at providing a clean comfortable place to sleep for the night. Mattresses were thin and spring-full. 1 out of 2 beds were missing the mattress cover so a thin heavily bleached sheet was all that was between us and the dirty mattress. The bed with the cover had box elder bugs crawling on it. I slept with my clothes on and still felt dirty. Box elder bugs in room and hallways. Evidence of bed bugs at one time. Not very clean. Seems like staff are just going through the motions or management doesn't care. Surprised a name brand chain would allow this. Parking lot very tiny for the capacity of this place. It didn't help that they let a 26ft moving truck take up like 5 spots. Had to park across the road at Winco/Home Depot. No where to park and unload, no bellhop cart in sight, had to double park and make a lot of trips. Lots of improvements needed/neglected. No where to plug in your phone near the bed/ night stands although this is barely worth mentioning with everything else that's wrong here. If only this were the biggest problem. ‍ Didn't use the pool but it stinks to high heaven. Chlorine smell fills the lobby, common areas and gets vented outside. a different smell filled the second floor hallway. The upside is their generous pet allowance. If you need a place to stay with your pets without paying extra this is great. If you think about how bad they are at cleaning, this is not so great.

Full Disclosure This…read morereview is for the Winter Market being held at the Riverside Hotel The Winter Market was a lot fun with a lot of people. It was great to see such a turnout for small business Saturday. We were on a mission to meet Melt. We had missed the Melt team at the Capital City market a couple of weeks back. We wanted to try their croissants and pain au chocolats. We found Melt at the back of the banquet room with a line which is a great line. Upon first glance the croissant roll, pain au chocolat and croissants looked amazing. Prices were expensive in terms of actually being in Paris but less than what's been charging locally. We picked up a couple of croissants, pain au chocolats, and an Opera. The lady in line says to me, " wow you even know how to speak the language " I smiled nicely. The croissant is excellent and looking forward to finding them next week in Eagle. As for the Riverside. A lot of work has been done to make it look very nice. The restaurant inside as well as the interior decor was inviting. We truly enjoyed looking at all the local artists on the walls. Parking was full but we found a spot.

They partner with the chain, but have no signage stating Best Western until you get to the concierge. This would normally be fine, except that I drove around this hotel 3 times until I got tired, walked in and figured it out. Upon arrival, the lady at reception was nice. She greeted me fine and gave me these delicious hot chocolate chip cookies. The room itself was nice, but boy was it a challenge getting to it. Did I mention this hotel is large? It apparently only has 2 elevators and they are both very far away from our room. After what felt like an hour we finally found our room and relocated our car for the 3rd time. Overall, the hotel is nice, the location is nice, but the service is what killed me. For one we asked for a shower cap and it took them over an hour to bring one. I also asked for recommendations for things to do in Boise and the young lady had no idea. Her response was that she never leaves her home. I feel that if you work in a hotel, you should have some idea as to where people should see and dine at in your area. Overall, nice hotel. But service is lacking.

People: Careful about the neighbors. Had my car broken into and my iPod was stolen. I don't flaunt my iPod or my personal stuff. It was out of sight so people had to literally look for it. There's been stabbings here and cops come by. Fights. Lots of shady people live here. Some good but lots of stoners as well as some people who make you feel uncomfortable. Front office: Nice enough. Careful about big dogs. They aren't a fan of big dogs especially if they bark every once in a while. Maintenance crew: real friendly guys. Always show up immediately if you need help. While it's annoying to answer the same question again and again, you must be polite and kind to inquiries. Being short, quiet, and rude on the phone is not going to get your business anywhere. Employees must remain proper because the lack of professionalism reflects how the property is likely managed. There are tons of courses available on phone etiquette, but then again it should be common sense to not be rude to someone on the phone that could be a potential renter.

Aedin (hope I spelled that right) greeted me with a warm and welcoming smile. I told him I was thinking of moving here and he explained what Boise is like. There was one other blonde lady dressed a bit Christmas festive. Perhaps a manager? She was kind in passing and I could tell there was good communication going on with her staff. I've worked at two hotels...both Marriott and Hilton. I notice everything. They always replenished my towels. The only flaw, which was only the first night...the towels were a little stiff. Probably something in the wash or dryer. The news ones were just fine. They even let me use a broom to sweep up the litter. If I didn't already find a place to live, I'd stay again! Looks like I'm moving to the Treasure Valley! All went seamless this week: received a job and a housemate...I'm getting ready to come back and settle to live there. I'm so excited, and the memorable hotel staff were really the soft landing I needed as I came back to the hotel to rest and replenish after interviewing for jobs and houses
