The morning of our booking I had a medical emergency (which we were able to verify to Skuna) so we called about six hours before our tour to ask if we could reschedule for another day. We understood this was incredibly short notice, so we didn't expect a refund or even a full credit. We asked if since the food would obviously not be prepared could we at least have a credit for the food portion if not the tour time. The answer was a fairly insensitive no, and were told the manager said they can't do anything with a same day cancel. Of course, we understood the uniqueness of the situation and had it not been due to a legitimate medical issue we never would have asked. However, the staff we spoke to didn't even show concern for the situation. We had to cancel drinks and bites at Bokan as well for after our tour and the staff there said no problem, they showed concern, and wished us well. Understanding that policies are in place we sent an email the next day. Eight days later we have only received an automated reply stating that our email was received. This is an experience we've wanted to have since moving to London three years ago, but sadly we just aren't interested in giving more money to a company that has this little care for their customers.

This was it! Josh was amazing. Water was warm, boat was clean and easy to 'drive'. Definitely worth the money, and no one else I know has been on a hot tub boat! So if you want something away from the crowds, in a great area for lunch or dinner too, give this a try. Easy to get to from anywhere.

I was right. :) Now, we've been on boat trips all over the world - along the Yangtze River in China, the Mekong in Laos and Thailand, through the backwaters of Kerala, island hopping in the Philippines, wildlife watching in Kinabatangan, Borneo... all sorts. With that it mind, little old Finsbury Park Boating Lake around the corner might have been a let-down. But but but, we'd never been on Finsbury Park Boating Lake and my husband isn't from the UK, so we kinda were exploring a foreign land, which is always jolly good fun. I also find that you sometimes have the most fun when a place isn't perfect. And I rather liked the imperfections of this lake - particularly the scummy, pervasive green weeds (please see photies). And the orangutans, proboscis monkeys and exotic birds we'd seen on other boat trips were replaced with duckies, moor hens, swans and geese. Just as exciting, no? And here you're allowed to feed the birds, stirring them up into a frenzy. We had great fun leading the quack-quacks a merry dance around the lake with our bird-feed. And if you come on a Saturday 1200-1500, dressed as a pirate (aaaargh!), you get a reduced price of £5 for your boat hire. Nice. Also worth checking out Groupon - they sometimes have deals on. Other than that, the fella working on the lake was very friendly indeed. We likey. Thoroughly recommend a row-row-row-your-boat in Finsbury Park, as long as you don't care about a bit of scuzzy weed and rubbish. All part of the fun, I say!

As there was not much difference in price he opted to book us on the 2 hour trip. Below decks there's a bar/tearoom and toilets. Most people opted to sit on the top deck. This has plastic seating in the first 5 rows and the back rows have padded seats. Although it was a sunny day, it was cold whilst we were sailing - had I known we were going to do a river trip I wouldn't have worn a sun dress as I got quite cold! It was a pleasant trip. Commentary was via a pre-recorded cd talking about the sights and history to be seen along the bankside and it's quite fascinating to see all the lovely houses on the waters' edge. We asked for tea and cakes which was brought to us by the Captain's 'mate' a pleasant young lady with hair dyed green! It was an enjoyable trip aside from the fact that I'd taken my 5 year old granddaughter for whom the trip was just too long. She enjoyed going through the Bray Lock gates but at that age they don't understand the incredible engineering and history behind it. I would definitely recommend a river cruise if you want a relaxing afternoon but do take a blanket or some warm clothes!

I have never done a canal cruise, I mean I have seen the canal boats all long the London canals.. But driving a boat down.. Now that's something you don't do everyday.  Now, Go Boat is the only self drive electric power boating experience in London, this is a follow up on the success Go Boat had in Scandinavia.  The journey take place by Merchant Square nearest station I would say is Edgware road station. You can book various hours, however we think that a minimum of two hours are required.. We had two hours on our trip and you really don't know where they go.. I mean when they said time flies when you are having fun.. They didn't exaggerate!  Just in case you think that they let all these Londoners loose on the canals of London.. Don't worry.. We have all been briefed of all the tight squeeze and  things to avoid as well as a map to merry Bob along the canals towards Camden Town. Apparently this journey should take no more than 60 mins.. Well, let's just say we wanted to get to Camden but may not have made it in the two hours we had.  It's such a difference experience to see London from a different side.. Passing little Venice, along Regents Park, where you can spot a few zoo animals.. It just makes anyone so happy.  Our trip was also filled with lovely drinks provided by Fentimans I have always loved their delicious Ginger Beer, I didn't even know that they do alcoholic drinks.. The pre mixed Gin and tonic.. Was delicious.. Together with vegetable crips from Emily's Crisp it was a perfect Saturday afternoon.  I loved the experience and would definitely be recommending it to friends and family, looking to enjoy a different size of London. Thanks again to Jo from @lovepopupslondon for the invite

So we did it! The boats hold 8 people and with a table in the middle it's ideal for a picnic. But with 8 people and bags we found it a tad cramped with all the stuff (yes I know we should have brought less!). Luckily for us amateur pilots/drivers (what do you call the person steering?!) the boat is made from a sturdy plastic and has bouys attached to the outside to stop any boo-boos if you crash into the canal side! The one thing to note is you are not allowed to drink and drive for safety reasons. Go boat limit the amount of alcohol you can take on board to one can per person or a bottle of wine between 4. Despite our crashes/bumps we enjoyed piloting the boat around the canals. For 2 hours we didn't have quite enough time to get from Paddington to Camden and back - next time 3 hours would be better! I really enjoyed cruising in the sun and seeing the landmarks of Little Venice, Regents Park and Camden from the different perspective of the canal. We saw people doing this as birthday parties, hen dos and baby showers as well as 'just because it's Saturday!'

It is one of those London attractions that is bloody expensive (aren't they all?) but well worth every penny. Or pence, as it were. Definitely a highlight of our time in London. It helps that we lucked out with the weather - perfect temperature and barely a cloud in the sky. Our guide was Max who did such a great job of cracking jokes while being informative and making sure everyone had a good time. Absolutely brilliant at his job and deserves all of the accolades. Once out of the central London area, the boat guns the engines and takes off with a carefully curated playlist blasting on the speakers (rocketing down the Thames with the James Bond theme music playing and my son by my side is an instant life highlight). My son loved when the boat did sharp, high speed turns which lifted one side of the boat practically perpendicular to the water. Not for the faint of heart! The whole tour lasted about an hour and was loads of fun. I've done loads of boat tours around Europe and this was easily the most fun I've ever had. Highly recommended!

When we went to speak with them about this we were told that they'd let one of us sit on standby for an open seat but that if anyone else showed up and paid for a ticket that person would just get bumped from the ride. They were not interested in addressing the fact that they sent us to the wrong place or making this right in any way. Their entire stance was basically that customers are ripping *them* off by getting sent to the wrong pier, showing up late or trying to reschedule. They made it sound like they were just too booked to do anything about this. We wound up going to the HMS Belfast and on one of the cruises with a day pass that let us go up and down the river for the afternoon. Now imagine my surprise when during the hours we were on the river doing other things their boats kept coming by with one, maybe two passengers. They're essentially raking in tickets for 16 people per trip while honoring less than a quarter of those tickets and issuing absolutely no refunds. Go with another company. Go with another activity. Don't pay all of that money for absolutely nothing.
