Very unethical therapist - he's on my network, and he is bound to accept $15. He knew this, but wanted me to pay his full $150 - and said he charged other patients more than their copay as well. He only let me know this after I'd seen him for several sessions for . . . depression. He finally agreed to honor his contract and pay me the correct amount but only if I agreed to pay him one session at $150. But this took an entire session to discuss.
When I didn't show to an appointment because I had a different time down, he said I would owe him $150 in the future. But when he missed an appointment with me, he barely apologized!
Then, after a year, when I was trying to get off antidepressants, he said he wanted me to start paying him his full fee again.
That's when I researched and found the Oxford published book on Psychology and Ethics said asking for more than the copay was both illegal and unethical. I hope his other patients read this and join me in complaining and suing to get our money back. read more
