This is the third print shop I've reviewed in two weeks. I've been doing some serious promotion and…read moremarketing lately, mang. I snapped the pic of this business as soon as I stepped out of my car. I'd been directed to this place from yet another local print shop who couldn't help me (I needed a printed t-shirt for an event), and suddenly I found myself looking at this insane abode sandwiched in an otherwise totally bland residential area. And when Kyle - the moustached artistic architect of the biz - answered the door, I quickly found out about one of this city's best kept secrets. The interior of the home is as colorful as the exterior, but I kept the phone cam down out of respect for privacy. Kyle ushered me to a spiral staircase that led to his domain, a huge print den. Along the way I asked, purely for small talk purposes, if he was a Breaking Bad fan. Laughing, he handed me a parking pass for the crew, "You can keep this. It's from the final season." Then he handed me original Los Pollos Hermanos labels, bright yellow, which he designed and printed for the show. I was kinda speechless. Kyle never advertises; his success has come strictly word-of-mouth, and for good reason. I liked my shirt and loved his efficiency, it was done just hours after I contacted him. I told him that Yelp was essentially the essence of online word-of-mouth, and he was psyched to see that he already had a business page. Hopping back into my car, I took a second look at that label he gave me. I checked the ingredients for the fry batter, and found these on the list: chicken semen, chicken faces, and methylamine. Nice work, Kyle.

I don't really use Yelp often, and I really hate to give a 1-star review for a business that I…read moretechnically haven't even had business with yet, but I was so unimpressed with my first email correspondence with Darko Printshop that I had to just make a statement about it. I've been running an online clothing store since August 2016, and have worked with several screenprinters locally in Albuquerque (as well as in California and Washington now) to have my shirts created and printed for my designs. I would generally approach screenprinting businesses with an email inquiry regarding my request, and each time I have been met with timely replies and professionalism. I had a small volume request that I had to make and noticed on Yelp that there were positive reviews with Darko regarding low quantity orders that were able to be quickly fulfilled, so I thought I would give them a try. I went to their site and made a request for a free quote. Not even five minutes later, I received an email reply back with a SINGLE word, "Nope". I have been declined requests from other screenprinters before due to availability but I have never had a print shop that simply dismissed my request with a single word, let alone no explanation or insight as to why. I even sent a response right back asking if they could elaborate on why they declined my request and have since not heard back. Ultimately, despite the positive reviews on Yelp, I was rather displeased by the unprofessional reply they gave me, as if me and my business was not worth their time or effort. I hope that perhaps with this review they will be more mindful and professional when responding to customer requests. I do not plan on trying again to give Darko Printshop my business.

So, i actually called 5 other locations in town, all in the same genre/industry, "hey we'll customize a shirt for you, fast etc, blah, blah, blah...but when I spoke to all 5 of these locations, they all turned me away...especially once i told them it was only (2) shirts i needed done and i needed them by Christmas. Carlos from Darko's however, took on the job. I emailed him some photos, highlighting the two i thought would be best to put on the shirts and he got to work. I was actually out of town, traveling and when i got back, we firmed up the job. And to note, i wanted to o a ore expensive route, full corlor, etc...but Carlos made some professional recommendations that ended up turning out better and, was much more cost effective. Carlos' professionalism, timelines and most importantly, willingness to take on a very small job during a very busy time of year, speaks volumes about him as a person and how he treats/prioritizes his business and customers! Well Done! I was so grateful to him, obviously...given this was a last minute idea, albeit sincere, but totally last minute...and he pulled it off. The shirts look amazing! Once Grandma opens them Christmas morning, I'll nab a few pics and post them...i forgot to take a pic before putting them under the tree :). Thank you Carlos - Merry Christmas!

Many items are clever riffs on New Mexican/Southwestern culture. I bought a shirt with "Jurassic Park"-style artwork, but it says "El Chupacabra" instead. It's super comfortable and I get compliments every time I wear it. If you're looking for a fun local gift or trip souvenir, you can't beat 111 Media Collective's T-Shirt Lab.

My bureau has drawers for my drawers, socks, jeans, shorts and t-shirts... and that basically defines every angle of my wardrobe. And that's cool, around here. Going to a play? Neutral colored t-shirt and jeans. Dining out? Shorts and a t-shirt work, yeah, even at the uppity spots. Hitting the club? Jeans and... wait. I can't... I haven't been to a club in forever. No comment. I'm surprised I'm the first to Yelp the T-Shirt Lab, because it's likely the best gig in town to score these Everygarments and they've been around a year, easy. The Lab is connected to an ecosystem of Burque artists and creative types that are capturing the pulse of the city and causing something of a stir. At the studio they'll design whatcha want, just bring the logo, they're preparing a quote on a big order for me at the moment. They carry two basic styles of tees, Gildan -- which is a conventional fit -- and Canvas/Bella -- I LOVE these shirts, very soft, relaxed, but not frumpy. The other sweet angle to the biz is their pop-up print station. With a little notice, they'll show up at your event or festival and print tees on the spot, and they offer a cool, environmentally-friendly option, as well: you bring the tee, they'll discount the fee. The other day, I found a terrific new shirt at Magokoro, bought it on the spot, with my ramen. Turns out T-Shirt Lab printed it. To my surprise, I wasn't terribly surprised. It's a great company.
