The Reserve reds were particularly fine, with grapes coming from either the Okanagan BC or Washington State, using a mix of new and second/third use French oak. Probably one of the better Petit Verdot we've experienced. An overall superb visit!! Most sales come from the tasting room, and small production wines sell out quickly - so visit frequently and get on their mailing list!

The tasting room inside is dark, needs more light and windows, and has some tables and chairs for people to sit. We were greeted by two ladies at the counter who explained the wines and tastings. You can get three testers for $8, or 4 for $11 including a special flagship wine they have. In my experience when you go to a winery there is a five dollar tasting fee, which is waived when you buy a bottle. Not only were these steep tasting fees, they do not get waived if you buy a bottle. Poor decision on their part in my opinion as most people would just buy a bottle. This is where things got weird. Their tasting room is where they are licenced...and there is a nice patio/wrap around deck with seating, but that isn't licenced so we weren't allowed to bring our tasters out there. However, they said there's an area on the grass with chairs that we could use. Ok great, but wait! There's a TEN DOLLAR FEE just to use that area?!? What? They told us the ten dollar fee is good towards a tasting... but we couldn't use it towards our first tasting? It was all very confusing and seemed very chintzy to me considering we were already buying tasters. The staff honestly also seemed very flustered and unorganized. One kept rambling about different aspects of the winery but very tangentially. The wines itself were ok. My favourite was their "meritage" blend. I wouldn't come back here until they made major changes that made them on par with other wineries in the lower mainland (highly recommend backyard winery and domaine de chaberton)

It's a bit of a hike from downtown, but there is street parking, and we opted to take public transportation. Once you arrive, it's absolutely worth the trip. The historic building, interior design, and overall vibe are excellent. It's the kind of place where you can enjoy a great meal and drinks, have a conversation, or simply relax and hang out for a while. They also have vegan options, which always makes me happy! From pizza to dessert, there's something for pretty much every diet. The food was fresh, portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable. They also offer happy hour specials on their house wines--yay! There are so many delicious local wines to choose from. Service is usually stellar, and this visit was no exception. Haze was incredible--friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely kind--making an already great experience even better. Made my own wine just for fun…read more I brought a bottle of my favorite wine for a sample. Mark (owner/operator) gave me a few suggestions of wine kits that would produce a reasonable facsimile. Mark was willing to do most of the work, but I insisted on being fully hands-on. So, I came in periodically according to a predetermined schedule to mix ingredients, transfer fluids, and eventually bottle and cork my finished wine. Mark also allowed me to add syrup to sweeten the wine to suit my palate. If you prefer to put in minimal effort, Mark is willing to do the heavy lifting. All in, it worked out to about $5 a bottle for a nice Shiraz. Had I brought my own bottles, the price would have been even less. But, since this was my first time, I had to buy the bottles. I've enjoyed the wine immensely, and it has gotten better tasting as it aged. I will definitely come back at some point once I finish drinking my 30 bottles of wine. Mark was super patient with me. I learned so much from him. It was fun, and I enjoyed the experience even more than the wine itself.

But what I can say is that the owners are very helpful and nice. The room is dark wood and has a nice, calm feel. The wine decanters are also very unique. A large selection of reds, whites, dessert wines and champagnes are also in abundance. For the holidays they have midweek and weekend tastings. I especially like the dinner themed ones where they pair wines and meals and help you select a match.

They sell all sorts of wine and beer making gear at reasonable prices. If you don't have the space, you can rent space at McWines. There's an old fashion friendly atmosphere at this place. Free freshly popped popcorn and they have an old fashion jukebox to play songs which is also free. The owner Carson was really friendly and I got to sample a variety of their wines.
