I needed a hobby to help me break the (sometimes) mind numbing routine of having a 9-5 job. Although I have a very good ear and can sing in tune, I wanted to take lessons mainly to increase my vocal range. I was lucky to be under the tutelage of Carey for over a year and a half. Within that period, I've been able to increase my vocal range and build up a nice repertoire of songs based on my musical interests. Since Carey has a huge database of songs to teach from (over 5000 songs!), we covered a lot of musical theatre, pop, and some jazz. Carey's studio has very calming, comfortable, and nurturing vibe. It's definitely a great environment where you can let your guard down and sing your heart out without feeling embarrassed! The only reason I am not with Carey today is because of financial constraints. Trust me, if the standard of living in New York didn't eat away at my income, I'd still be with Carey today!!

Laurelanne was so helpful in pointing out and changing the not so great habits I'd picked up over the years, while encouraging me to pick songs that fit my own voice. It also helped me increase my stamina, as I used to get extremely winded when singing. She was a great and patient teacher, who really helped me understand the basics of improving my voice. I think the best improvement of all was my confidence. I was auditioning a lot at the time, and having Laurelanne work on a song with me and help me with tips and tricks made a huge difference.
