Traveling back home from Mexico today we stopped here for lunch since we were starving. We have passed by every time we go to Mexico & come back, but we've never stooped since we weren't hungry. There were multiple cars so it's popular. We walked in & were greeted right away. You sit wherever you want. There were two ladies taking care of the customers. Our server came over right away. We both got iced tea. They bring a basket of chips & salsa out, as well as ketchup. Hubby didn't like the tea. He said it tasted like it had cinnamon in it. I didn't mind it. Hubby ordered the BTL & added avocado to the sandwich with fries. I got the grilled cheese with fries. The food was hot & fresh. It was like eating at your grandma's house. The restaurant & restroom was very clean. Great service & good food. We will have to stop here again during our vacation trips. read more

They always close early. This happens all the time. I'd suggest changing your hours if you never stay open until your stated hours.

Nice break to take from Tucson to Yuma on the scenic route. We ordered the Grilled Cheese Sandwich with the comment of "awesome bread". Order the Chicken enchilada Taco, Tamale Combo, it was a nice lunch time break. Enjoyed the chicken/rooster theme throughout the diner. Noise level was a little high in a full house. read more

If you're passing through Why, AZ, Granny's Kitchen is an absolute gem and a must-stop before heading into Mexico! We stopped in for breakfast and it was spot on--fresh, flavorful, and served hot. The Mexican food here is authentic and delicious, definitely worth making time for. The place is very clean, the staff is friendly, and you can tell they take pride in what they do. It's the perfect pit stop: fill your belly, grab some gas (this is your last stop before the border!), and hit the road. Highly recommend for travelers--great food, great service, and super convenient location. read more

Great CHEESE BURGERS in the middle of nowhere? Why! Because they care.... great food, great service!

Great hometown place with yummy food. I got the special which was flautas with rice and beans. They were very good. But the stand out was the cup of soup that came with the meal. Muy sabroso!! This experience was all the better because it was such an unexpected pleasant surprise! What's the word--serendipitous!! Great food. And great staff. I just wish it was closer to home! read more

Thought we'd try what appears to be the only eatery in Why, Arizona. We were impressed by how busy and modern the restaurant was, and how many families were there at 1:30 PM. Service was prompt and cheerful. The chips were light and salty, the salsa was quite spicy (DW declined). I wanted to eat light, so I had the grilled cheese, which I discovered came with fries, so there goes that. For a simple dish, it was perfect, as were the large-cut fries. DW had the patty melt. "It was good!" was her review. Soda sold by the can. We'll almost certainly go back for Mexican before we travel on. read more

Friendly staff and delicious salsa and chicken chimichanga. Small town diner feel. Seems to be a favorite spot for locals and travelers.

We like this place for a few reasons....one is that it's one of a few restaurants near Ajo that has good food. Where Prescott is a foodies Mecca, Ajo is the exact opposite, except for Granny's which does good food for decent prices and the portions are hearty. If you're new to Granny's I might suggest the chimichanga or any one of their yummy burritos but if your in the mood for American they do a decent hamburger or pancakes. The ladies that run this place are top notch and service is always fast and polite. read more

This was a very convenient place for my mother and myself to have breakfast, as we were coming from our hotel in Ajo, AZ, off of state highway 85, headed to spend part of the day in Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, and this restaurant was easy to find right off of the road in the town of Why. I had the huevos rancheros, and Mom had the eggs, sausage, and hashbrowns. Both dishes came with toast, shredded lettuce and sliced tomatoes. The servers were very pleasant and the portions of food were moderately generous. The place looked clean, and the decor of many chickens, some ceramic, some stone, some painted wood, were amusing and cheerful to look upon. The salsa was nothing special, and the parking lot did not have ma lot of spaces available when we visited. Still, a pretty good place for us to have breakfast. read more

Super cute mom and pop type of spot. Quickly greeted and offered a seat. I was ordering to go but appreciated the offer. It was busy but not packed. The waitress was knowledgeable and helpful. I'm vegetarian and she made some suggestions. I ordered a bean and cheese burrito add French fries and enchilada style (red and green sauce). It came with a side of guacamole, sour cream, lettuce and tomato. It came out nice and hot. I was trying to eat and drive...no bueno. It was too good to put down so I ended up pulling over to eat half lol. Again for a quick grab-a-bite, passing through type of spot, it's a yes for me! read more

Pretty good food for just being in a tiny burg along the hiway. Service was good. Seemed like a place that locals gather.

Granny's is one of the few restaurants in the Why/Ajo area and offers a good variety of food options. They close early so we had to be sure to arrive before 2:00 pm to get a seat. Their lunch rush is pretty crowded, and our first time visiting, we had to share a table with two other couples we didn't know. It gave us a chance to spark up a conversation that we would not otherwise have had. The decor isn't too fancy and the staff is friendly. You order at the table with your waitress but must pay at the counter on your way out. Not all the food options are included on the menu so be sure to read the posted signs on the walls for specials. I've tried their breakfast as well as their special chicken enchiladas with mushroom sauce. The enchiladas are my favorite and remind me of the comfort food from my childhood. I enjoyed my meals each time I've come in, and would definitely return again when in the area. read more

The worst experience I have ever had. We found a press on glitter finger nail in the quesadilla. This was so disgusting and truly wild. When we showed and notified the staff of the nail, the staff instantly got defensive and saying it wasn't them because none of the kitchen crew has that style of nails. The owner came out to talk to us and never offered an apology and just insinuated that we placed the nail in the food. It's a wild to me to be working in the service industry and lack basic manners and communication skills. This is why she will never expand in the restaurant industry because she is unprofessional and makes boring bland basic unseasoned food. They obviously have extreme unhygienic standards for their food service. It's obvious food is been handled without gloves or utensils. The owner and staff need to learn basic customer service skills because they have none. The only reason this place has any success it's because they are the only restaurant in the middle of nowhere so people have to settle for this as an option like we did. If you consider stopping here to eat as you drive through town, please reconsider. The only person who offered us an apology was the cashier. read more

Wow! Took us years to get here, but so worth it. I had the best Huevos Rancheros!!! 1st, the egg were cooked PERFECT with excellent rice and beans. My Sweetie had the Carne Asada dinner. So good and HIS leftovers of mini salad with guacamole was Fanastic the next day. My suggestion is to watch time of day, because lunch time can be VERY busy and the day of the week to avoid busy Rocky Pointers. Super clean and Wonderful Service!! read more

It has been around 2 years since my last visit and not much has changed. I ordered the club sandwich and it was just ok. Using low quality processed American cheese just doesn't do it for me. Not at least having an option of cheddar or any other decent option makes no sense to me. Fries were good, server was pleasant and the prices are average for the area. The other 3 people in my party said their food was good. read more

We happened to stop by on our way back from Rocky Point...Honestly, I had my expectations low as from the outside the restaurant isnt calling your name, but honestly it superseded my expectations. Why; 1. Food was actually good it had a home made taste.Coming from a Mexican background my expectations are always high for Mexican food (sorry most Mexican restaurants around here cater to our white folks and thus food isnt 100% authentic), but the food was actually really good. Ordered green chicken enchiladas-chicken was perfectly flavored, Mexican rice is good so were the beans and the salsa they serve with the chips had just the right spice to it. Mega burger -bf was really impressed as it had the charbroiled taste but not burnt. I included photos of the Carne ranchera-friend said it was good too. And as for the steak it was good but I guess it was a little dry for my friends liking but still good. 2.Price-Mega burger, 2 cheeseburger, green chicken enchiladas, ranchera and stake plates plus drinks-$80 3. Service- server was friendly and quick to take our order. Food was out in like 20 min 4. Sanitation-really clean, restroom was also decently cleaned. read more

I've always received good service and the food is appetizing. I especially enjoy the 60's music playing in the background.

I was driving from Tucson to Organ Pipe Cactus NM, and I knew I'd need to eat somewhere. Initial research suggested that Granny's in Ajo might be my best shot. Prices looked cheap too, and even better it was directly on my way - it's basically right at the entrance to the monument. This seemed too good to be true - an affordable lunch in a convenient spot - so I was a little nervous when I went in. It took a couple of minutes to get a menu since there was just one lady multi-tasking up front (Granny?) and presumably a cook in the back but she came over to me and I ordered the enchiladas. And they were out within 15 minutes! And they were good! Enchiladas are always a good test for me, coming from the Southeast where nobody can do them right. The red sauce had a slightly spicy smoky flavor and the tortillas had a slight element of crunch to them. I didn't mess around with these things - Granny took away my clean plate about 2 minutes after she brought it to me. I quickly paid up and hit the road to see me some organ pipe cacti. So price, location, service, and taste - Granny pulls her weight and comes through for you. But then again, isn't that what grannies always do for you? read more
