I didn't expect much from this unassuming hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Almeida, Portugal. We were pleasantly surprised. Granitus turned out to be one of the culinary highlights of a trip chock-full of gastronomic delights. We ordered:
Grilled Octopus (A+): The best grilled octopus I've ever had. So tender, juicy, and flavorful. Not rubbery at all!
Bacalhau (A+): Perhaps the best salted cod fish (bacalhau) we had during our entire trip. And that's saying a lot, considering Portugal is "bacalhau" heaven.
House Salad (A-): Very fresh
Steak (B): Decent but not their specialty
The décor and the service are nothing special, but who cares? With grilled octopus and "bacalhau" this good, all else is forgiven.
