Sometimes one just tires of excuses. I went to Builder's in March and spoke to Dave about what I…read morewanted. He said that he would have his best guy, Steve, call me to come for measurements for our doors and that it would be cheaper if we just settled up with Steve on the installation cost. There were two doors and one retractable screen. I wanted one of the doors to have a screen, but Steve said that it was not possible. (I later came to find out that it would have been possible if we would have changed the door from one that opened out to one that opened it. Since he had to redo the framing, why it wasn't possible I just don't know.) Steve came, but would not give us an installation price, only saying that he would be fair. Our doors came in, but we could not get Steve out to install them for WEEKS. We paid for the doors on April 11th. Almost two months later, Steve came to install. Because he didn't arrive early in the morning, by the time that he arrived, it was ready to rain. He was able to install one door and a strip between the french doors in the front. My husband didn't like the strip, so he took it off and put on the old one. The old one had the same issue, so my husband told him to put the new one back on. Steve had a helper. The two of them were not even at our home for five hours. They installed one door and the front door strip. The cost was $450. Then it was several weeks before Steve could come out again. I asked Dave if we could get someone else because Steve was too expensive. Dave did not want to send out anyone else. Steve finally came out and installed the door (that I wanted to have a screen). He tried to install the retractable door THAT HE HAD MEASURED FOR and it did not fit. For that he charged us $350, even when I tried to talk to him about the issues with his installation. On more than one occasion, I called Dave to let him know that we still have the retractable door here for him to pick up. He said that he wasn't worried about it, as he could not use it anyway. That was a month and a half ago. The installation cost us more than the doors. In the meantime, Dave at Builder's said that he would issue us a refund for the retractable door. I didn't want to give him our credit card number for the refund because I have had enough. He's been mailing our refund for almost three weeks. We have not received it. The last few times that I have called him, he has been unavailable. The idea of us getting new doors was to be able to have a breeze flow from that side of the house (besides getting new doors). That is why I went to a specialty company. Steve talked my husband out of it by saying that we would have the retractable screen. We still don't have a screen and we still don't have our money. GO ELSEWHERE!

He put me in touch with Tom who did the installation, and that made the project perfect. I admit it, I have very high expectations when it comes to customer service and project results. I'm particular, very fussy and a nitpicker. But these two guys exceeded even my standards. Everything arrived as promised, the doors were in perfect condition, the installation was done skillfully, efficiently, without delays, excuses or interruptions. An all around pleasant experience. And, our new fiberglass doors are breathtaking. Glad I found them.

This is THE place to get tile!…read more We walked in today with the one remaining tile the prior owners left us for a floor laid in (we think) 1997. The person at the desk immediately saw the tile, and knew the manufacturer based on the pattern of the back of this old tile (no discerning text was on it). Through luck, they actually had our tile in backstock, and were able to supply us with some pieces. The demonstration of expert knowledge to identify the manufacturer and locate where they had some stored, right as we walked in, was astounding. Yes, there was luck that they had the tile, but the point to exemplify here is that the staff has the expertise to recognizes decades of tile styles. This place is awesome. Sure clean, professional, and a great selection of modern tile. Search no other place for tile, these guys are the experts!

Pro source - Variations in wood

I would give ProSource of Sarasota less than one star if it was an option. They have terrible…read morecustomer service and do not stand behind their product. I sent emails, texts and made phone calls with absolutely no results. They blamed Mullican for their policy, but when I called Mullican, they said it was ProSource, not them, so someone is lying. I bought 1,200 square feet of natural oak engineered hardwood based on a 3x4 ' sample that showed a beautiful floor with pieces of wood that were similar in color and grain. As the installers were working, they called me to look because they were concerned I might not like the extreme differences in pieces of wood. The wood varied from an almost spruce like light color to a dark walnut like color. These dark and light pieces were not shown on the sample. When I called and complained, ProSource said that's what you get with natural wood. I said their sample was not representative of the product and they had no comment. I told them, I had owned 7 houses with hardwood floors over 40 years and had some of them installed. Never, had I seen anything so extreme in variation. I actually like the variation in natural wood, but this looked like 3 different floors. My installers resorted to sorting the boxes of wood to find pieces of similar hue, but by the end of the second day, told me I needed to order more wood. I had to order 10 more boxes to get enough pieces that worked together. I ended up paying the installers an additional $1,500 for the extra time it took them to sort. I also have ended up with 18 extra boxes of wood that I cannot use. Here is the catch 22. If you open the box, they will not take it back, so you cannot look to see if the wood in the box is acceptable without paying for it. This job turned out to coast thousands of dollars more than it should have. ProSource takes no responsibility for the product they sell, even though it doesn't look anything like the sample. I told them I would have to write a negative review and they said, "do what you have to do". I guess they just don't care, but please don't buy from them and risk putting yourself in my position. I thought they were a quality store, but Lumber Liquidators, Lowes and Home Depot are so much more honest and put ProSource to shame. What do I do with the 18 boxes they won't let me return?
