I booked Grange Farm at short notice, having been referred there from nearby accommodation that was fully booked. I booked for two nights and ended up staying four!
The accommodation is a lovely Grade II listed farmhouse, that has been in the owner's family for generations. The rooms are spacious, and tastefully but simply decorated. My room had a bathroom down the corridor, but this wasn't a problem (the other two rooms are en-suite). The place is blissfully quiet and my bed was very comfortable, so I slept wonderfully. The site has several duck ponds (and lots of ducks) and a friendly horse in the adjacent field. There is ample parking and I had a great wifi connection when I needed it.
Breakfast was excellent - a lot of the produce is local and fresh (eggs come from their own hens) and included fresh figs. The owner, Kathy, could not have been more helpful, from giving me directions to get there, and then helping me find the right spot to park my motorbike (ie not on gravel).
It's a ten minute walk into the village of Woolpit via a public footpath, or a few minutes' drive. Woolpit has two village stores (a small co-op and one in the garage), chip shop and a nice restaurant in the Swan. Also worth knowing is that there is a petrol station just along from the church (the church is definitely worth a visit). read more
