AVOID THIS COMPLEX LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!! If you don't have any other choice but to move into this horrible place, I feel sorry for you. I've lived in different complexes in the Denver-metro/Longmont areas for 14+ years - this place is the worst place I've ever lived in. Don't even consider renting here - unless it's your last resort and you simply don't have any other options. Oh, and don't forget - this complex is across the street from a complex that has had multiple apartments becoming inhabitable because of cooking meth..... yeah, you'll live in a "great" neighborhood. NOT!!!
Grandview Meadows is the worst experience of living in an apartment I've ever experienced.... Here's a list of a few things that makes this place completely suck:
* They do not enforce their own parking policy with regard to commercial vehicles parking in the resident parking instead of on the street. It's pretty ridiculous. Don't expect all of your neighbors to actually use their garage for parking a vehicle either.
* You can't pay your rent online through a property website - and instead have to either pay at the office or go through a separate payment website that charges you a fee each month to make a payment.
* Make sure you always remember to get a copy of whatever paperwork you sign and give to the office staff - they generally won't ask you if you want a copy. Document, document, document - you'll need it later.
* If you have an appliance that should be replaced completely - don't expect it to happen. My dishwasher NEVER drained like it should have - despite the maintenance staff saying it was fixed. It got the point that it wasn't worth calling in yet another work order - knowing that they'd only come and jiggle some hoses and say it worked. Oh, it did for a couple of days, and then the exact same problem started again.
* If an appliance does happen to be traded out - just know that you'll get one that's dented, scuffed, scratched..... Again, document everything (take lots of pictures).
* When you move in to your unit, take pictures of absolutely everything - carpet, walls, trim, fixtures, floors, appliances...... everything. You'll need this when it comes time to move out.
* When you either are lucky enough to be able to end your lease early, or opt to not renew (congrats to you), make SURE you do a walk-through with a staff person - and take pictures along the way. Make the person document EVERYTHING that they note on the walk-through form - and get a copy of it before you turn in your keys. I was told by the person who did my walk-through when I moved out that, "Don't worry about the paint - we have to repaint the entire unit anyway with the new paint." Uh huh - but he failed to smell cigarette smoke during the walk-through.... It was only afterward that the manager and staff said that there was "smoke damage" and I would be responsible for paying for carpet and paint. Yep - they'll lie to you and get away with it because, well.... "it's in your lease".
* They will try to keep as much of your deposit as possible - I will give them kudos for really working hard to do that. The management, to include the corporate office in California, are all pretty underhanded. read more
