Pretty basic as far as malls go. Giant carousel inside was cool for the kids, but in order to use it you have to have $1 bills to turn into tokens. You can't pay directly. I had $20 and had to buy something in the food court to get the change then put the singles in a machine to get the tokens. Kinda ridiculous, but whatever. The kids liked their 45 second ride. Play structure in the mall was clean--my kids also enjoyed that. Not much in the way of crowds, which was nice for us. read more

Covid19 is not making a difference in my review either since they did remove a lot of things that would normally be around. Has a food court and about all the same stores as in any mall. No Sears at this one though. Seemed to be able to find bathrooms easy. Ended up being disappointed in American Eagle though. I guess they are getting rid of the embroidery of the Eagle in their clothes. Being the only full service Mall in Traverse City it's important to keep shopping here. Very nice Food Court with wide range of things to eat. My favorite is the Teriyaki Grill which is on the less frequented end of the food court which is too bad because it has pretty good, freshly prepared food. There's a Macy's, JC Penney's, TJ Maxx, Target, Old Navy and a bunch of smaller specialty shops. It is true that there are several empty spaces, but you gotta chalk it up to a classic case of business overreach when it seemed the economy was booming with no apparent end in sight. This is a great place to have a walking route. I'm surprised there aren't more folks doing this. Lots of parking is a plus. read more

The Grand Traverse mall is the worst mall I've ever been to. It may seem great to those who have not been out of the city but any mall more than two hours from here are better. This mall has terrible stores that I have never heard of. The employees are somewhat friendly, but you can tell they would rather be somewhere else. The size of our mall is laughable. A person could walk through the entire mall in a half hour. The only things I use in the mall are the food court and the theater. Don't get me started on the food court. It has one good restaurant Bagger Dave's and that isn't even in the food court. It's next to it!!! You can't buy anything in the mall except for cheap toys and outdated clothes. Nice food court and carousel. Has many brand name stores and big department stores around perimeter attached to the mall. Lots of parking and a small new strip mall just went up in the parking lot. Stopped by the food court for lunch again today while driving by. Support your local mall! read more

I'm not a huge mall shopper but I do have teenage girls...sooooo on occasion they want to wonder the mall. The mall is kinda dead...a lot of closed up stores in there. The food court to has had different stores open and close quickly so not always an easy choice for eating. It is nice that Target and Dunham's are right there. We definitely miss the movie theater being attached. That was always a nice activity for the older kids on a rainy day...movie and mall. read more

All I ever see is a bunch of lazy kids with nothing better to do but chit chat with their friends and not promote any business. The mall is in a great location. Safe, clean and well maintained. Unfortunately a lot of stores have pulled out and the choices for shopping are slim. I appreciate having a mall nearby and the anchor stores like JCPenney and Macy's help draw people in. H& M is coming soon and Dunhams sporting good store is also going in. I am not sure if it's due to the economy or people shopping on line that business is down. Hopefully things will improve. read more

The Grand Traverse mall is the nicest mall in the area. It has all the things most people want in mall including a food court, a movie theater, and the retailers you would expect. One thing that makes this mall stand out is the colorful Carousel, which located in the food court. read more

This is a great mall for anyone. There are games and machines for younger kids can ride for a few quarters. The food court is mostly clean and the food court vender staff were friendly and very helpful. Bathrooms are kept fairly clean. Overall I think this was a very good mall. read more

This review is more for the food court area. Be careful using your credit card there!!! It is now twice that our credit card number has been fraudulently stolen and used to get money from online cash sources. The credit card company picked up on it right away, fortunately, and we cancelled the cards for each occurrence. Just wanted to warn folks before it happens to them!! read more

This mall blows. I grew up in T.C. and when this mall first opened it was full of great stores, but all the good stores slowly left as the years passed. Now, all that remains is teeny bopper stores and places that sell weird crap like pool tables and teddy bears. Avoid at all costs. read more

Because you can't leave a direct review for Zumiez, this is as good as it gets. Anyways I'm more than a regular at Zumiez, and the manager Weston is above and beyond for customer service, when he's there. However, the last few times there is an employee, Hannah, that makes me feel less than welcome. For starters she watches me to the point where its extremely uncomfortable; so much does she watch me that when I bring other people in there they tell me she watches me so closely, that they too notice and feel the uncomfortable situation. Recently however, I went in with my usual group and much to my surprise she watched me like I was an alien. Not only watching me, but this time she decided to follow us and listen and in on our conversations. When I got up to the counter to be rung up, hoping I wouldn't have to deal with her, she came and took care of us. She started out by listening intently to my conversation yet again and this time BUTTING INTO THE CONVERSATION. She then followed it up with questions I don't personally think should be asked to someone. I actually work at the mall, just next from Zumiez, and I would never think to ask the questions she did, to a customer. Overall it was one of the worst experiences I've had here, and as sad as it is to say, I don't foresee myself going back in there any time soon, or at least until they get her in check. read more

This mall makes me very upset. A majority of the workers as far as security and management are very very rude. One of the stores called the Sleeping Tiger or something like that had a very rude woman at the counter who refused to help me and was just overall pretty upset. It's a fine mall, nothing really special, and I wouldn't choose to go there again. Unfortunately however, this is the only mall near me so I just wish it was a little better as far as employees and common courtesy. read more

I did not appreciate the entire food court being engulfed in a haze of vape smoke from the nearby store. More research needs to be done into the effects of secondhand vape smoke before I will disregard the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendation that children not be exposed to it. We left and had dinner elsewhere. read more

This mall was almost dead when we went. The shops are all teen shops and most of them were so small. It wasn't very clean and it was a very depressing atmosphere. Wouldn't recommend this place; go downtown instead. read more

After reading the reviews I thought it would be trash but the mall had decent stores. There was an express and buckle in it. People's perception of this mall all depends on where they come from. If you want a very fancy mall this might not be it but who goes to Traverse City for the mall anyway. read more

If 1991 was a great year for you, come re-live it over and over again. For the ladies, "90's Nail Salon" awaits you (actual name), or stop off for an Orange Julius. The vintage worn floor tiles throughout and yellowed ceilings will bring you back to a part of your youth you tried so hard to escape. The smell of stale popcorn will keep you searching for an undiscovered Woolworths somewhere. The mall contains many empty and abandoned boutique spaces where even artificially inflated prices could not pay the rent. If coin funnels are your thing, you don't know what you're missing. read more

This place literally has no redeeming qualities. I want to spend money and buy myself things but I just can't, because there is nothing here. The building should be nicknamed "big dumpy" because it has 90s vanilla- and chocolate-colored tiles that are all cracked and dirty. The bathrooms are filthy. They've attempted to update by adding sofas and chairs and rugs but it looks cheap. All the stores keep closing, probably because no one wants to go here because the management company is too cheap to remodel. Please, I'm begging someone, just bulldoze this place down and save some trouble. Oh, and I especially love the empty wing that was supposed to house the new Dick's Sporting Goods which isn't coming anymore! That's really cool. Remodel it or something!!! read more

Grand Traverse Mall USED to be a great mall! I have been going to that mall since it's opening day. I have in the past been employed at this mall. The thing that irks me the most is the cleanliness of the mall, or lack of it. There have been many times myself and my family have gone to the mall, and ended up leaving early without making the planned purchases because of the BATHROOMS, they are DISGUSTING!!!! the toilets are always a mess, there is always trash of the floors, many times there is no toilet paper, the water to wash your hands is always freezing, and they smell!! I remember a time when you saw housekeeping roaming the hall constantly and the mall, and bathrooms were kept clean. Also, I have seen a certain housekeeping staff member say some pretty inappropriate things to some of the female employees in the mall. It makes me wonder if I should allow my teenage daughter to go there with her friends and shop, is she safe? The Store options are always changing, that the nature of the beast, but I remember a time when you could walk in there and there was not ONE empty space, now it's such a shame. Management used to be great, security used to be good, and it ran smoothly. Now you see Security standing around chit chatting with friends, and you never see management walking the halls. No wonder the number of customers has dropped to the point of it feeling a bit like a ghost town. Shape up GT Mall, those of us that remember the beginning 10 years want our mall back!!! read more
