OMGOODNESS....OFFSPRING! This was by far one of the greatest concerts I have been too, I don't know if it was completely the location, but definitely because of the artists!
I haven't been to the Grand Stand before, and I was given the opportunity when my favorite rock group (Offspring) was performing there and a good friend of mine (TT) bought us both tickets to go.
We had cheaper seats, but I don't care. I believe that the experience I'm having is pretty much the same as the people down on the floor if not better because I can see everything and I'm spending a lot less money.
The downfall to a concert in the grandstand is you have to pay admissions into the State Fair as well. That was a bummer, because I'm a person who only likes to go 1 time a year. I had gone the previous day with my mother. So to pay again for the concert was kind of a buzz kill at first. We didn't do anything, as far as the fair goes. No beverages or food was about till we were inside the grandstand. Hoping they find a solution to that for the future, however, it's a cash cow they(grandstand and state fair profiteers) probably won't.
You are allowed to smoke in their, but there is a designated section behind a line off to the side, on the floor level by the bathrooms. So I couldn't complain about the smoke or anything because it wasn't anywhere near me.
The atmosphere is what made this concert great. If you were to look at me, you wouldn't guess I liked Rock Music, and I really don't, but Offspring I have enjoyed since HS. I didn't feel secluded, or anything, everyone was welcoming and a few patrons(the ones I was seated by) were impressed I knew the words to certain songs.
Overall, I would recommend this place, if the artists playing are definitely ones you wanted to see and haven't seen live before. Or if you also don't mind spending a lot of money on the tickets, and then admissions into the state fair on top of it. I don't know if I'd go again, it would definitely have to be an act that I have been wanting to see and don't know if I'd get the chance else where or ever again. read more
