There is less street parking around the area but there are 82 free covered parking spots in the public garage of state street station right across the street. The members of the Lions Club are local to the area and very friendly. They host fundraisers throughout the year that benefit local charities. You can rent the entire building for only $300. Now this is a smaller program that I put on so I'll compare it to just the same program and even with that smoothest experience! First off the space was perfect for our dinner program of 60 guests. This is a networking/educational event so we also have an exhibit hall with pharma partners the bar side of the space was perfect for our limited 6 exhibitors. It was a gorgeous evening so we had a few tables outside and had the big door open to the dinner space to have an inviting entrance during the cocktail/welcome hour with the registration table right inside that door (which we then converted into the dessert and coffee table). I had a wonderful time working with Janelle when we did a walkthrough she helped in selecting the linen to match our marketing materials for the event and we worked through nice weather layout plan versus hot weather! Her bar team did a wonderful job with our special drink request (again to match the theme for Menopause the topic of the talk). Janelle was also so helpful with set up I've never had assistance like that and I really appreciated it! She was also very hands on throughout the event like a full second the whole time even managing communication with the catering team so I could continue doing what I needed to for the event. The presentation set up was perfect with a super large screen the linen draped on the side was gorgeous. Highly recommend hosting your event at Story Hill Firehouse if you're looking for a smooth experience and stunning event.

The event venue in the historic firehouse is lovely for medium size gathers. The sound in the engine bay travels very well but is not echoing that one would think in a concert area. There are bridal areas for both the bride and the groom to get ready separately. Though parking is limited, the use of both area hotel shuttles and the story hill's trolley made guest transportation easy. Plus for those guests the should not drive after parting ensures they are back safely to their hotels. Every person the story hill' found or recommended to support our event was fantastic to include the decorations, DJ, wait staff, trolly driver, bar tenders and event manger. What a hidden gem! 1st and Bowl is unique "sports bar" with so many fun things to do for people of all ages. The gaming areas included separate spaces for kids and adults, like the football bowling & connect-4 basketball. There were also pickleball courts, cornhole boards, billiards tables, golf simulators, lots of screens with different live games on, and in my opinion, the creme de la creme: the Nerf Wars arena. Lights off, black lights on, all out fun! I haven't had that much excitement playing with Nerf guns in years! Some other things observed but didn't get to experience were the full bar and a full kitchen --both looked clean, well stocked, and ready for orders. Lots of comfortable seating, tables, and little private "rooms" around the courts to chill in while playing/eating. All of the separate areas looked very clean and organized, with clearly written game instructions for the various games visible by each court. From what I saw and experienced on the day I went, I'm pleasantly impressed with this place. If you're looking for a new place to have a kid's or adult's birthday celebration, a place for a first date (or 2nd or 3rd!), something to do on the weekend with your kids, a place to hang out casually with friends, family, coworkers, literally whatever the occasion -- than look no further than 1st and Bowl. Turned on the A/C on full and while in the process of unpacking I looked at the bed skirt and there was what appeared to dry vomit on the skirt trailing down from the pillow! We are now into about a half hour of our stay and the A/C is now blowing warm air. I went to the front desk and requested another room. The kid that checked us in said "well I'm not an A/C repair man so I can't help you with that" .. then "well I'm not a housekeeper so I cant tell if the bed was changed". We finally got our room. Breakfast was mediocre at best. The experience will not be repeated
