Story Hill Firehouse - Seating area in bar area

    Story Hill Firehouse

The staff at Story Hill Firehouse are simply amazing. The event Manager Amy is truly down to…read moreearth and is willing to exceed your desires. The event venue in the historic firehouse is lovely for medium size gathers. The sound in the engine bay travels very well but is not echoing that one would think in a concert area. There are bridal areas for both the bride and the groom to get ready separately. Though parking is limited, the use of both area hotel shuttles and the story hill's trolley made guest transportation easy. Plus for those guests the should not drive after parting ensures they are back safely to their hotels. Every person the story hill' found or recommended to support our event was fantastic to include the decorations, DJ, wait staff, trolly driver, bar tenders and event manger. Thank you everyone for helping make our event memorable.

I've been here on a couple different occasions…read more First, during Doors Open Milwaukee, to check out this historic Firehouse. And, the second time was during their recent holiday market. The Story Hill Firehouse is a historical firehouse that's been repurposed as an event space. It's all exposed-brick-charming with some outdoor space as well. I'm not exactly sure of the capacity but would say it's an ideal event space for small to mid-sized events. There's some fun historical items throughout the space which makes for an interesting and unique experience. They've done a good job at creating an enchanting events space. For the holiday market, they were able to put several vendors throughout the indoor space (including utilizing their indoor events bar area) as well several outside. They maximized the space and with their roll up garage/fire truck style door (making moving between indoor and outdoor spaces a breeze), it worked wonderfully for the market. I know they have a few events throughout the year. I believe last New Year's they had a 1920's/prohibition themed NYE party. A wonderfully charming event space on the outskirts of the Story Hill neighborhood that would be the ideal spot for weddings, receptions, or really any event you can imagine.

We visited Bowlero when we couldn't find availability at our local bowling alley…read more Bowlero has a great location, and several lanes in a cool atmosphere with many screens, loud music and bright lights. The staff is friendly. We had a few issues with our lane and had to reset it a few times. Recreational use seems to be very common here. It was more noticeable as it was getting later in the day.

Worst experience. Made a reservation on their website for 5:30pm on a Saturday. As it is a holiday…read moreweekend, we scheduled in advance. When we arrived, there was a long line of people waiting for service at the front counter. A mountain of shoes have accumulated on the counter, presumably due to no one being assigned to man the desk. We did not see anyone come to the front for 30 minutes! When someone did come out, we were told there were no lanes available at all and the kitchen was closed because they were backed up. So... what was the point of making a reservation?! The icing on the cake was hearing the manager/supervisor say out loud to an employee clocking in (when someone finally did show up) that there was a $10,000 large party about to show up where he would rather focus their attention. Aren't all paying customers valued? The staff was clearly flustered and overwhelmed. Their attempts to pacify the clearly agitated crowd was filled with attitude. I felt like we were inconveniencing them. Maybe close off reservations on your website next time, or position staff better. Leaving the front unattended for that long is ridiculous. Wish it was a better experience cause the place looked really nice.
