Arrived in Perpignan very hungry after a train ride from Barcelona. We strolled in the Old Town checking out the various menus and were drawn by their recommended menu fix.
Every single dish was beyond reproach! I started with an amazing goat cheese and pear tarte served with French baguette & small salad. My husband had the fish soup. These were followed by the entrees, a trio of meats made up of Boudin (blood sausage), duck and beef. The sausage was tasty and well flavoured not too spicy, but a bit on the fatty side. The beef was a tad on the tough side and must have been cooked in lots of butter (tasty but so artery clogging), the duck was AMAZING! This entrée came with fries and small salad.
My husband had the salmon which was steamed, tender and flaky. It came with rice and salad as well.
For dessert we gad a choice of a light chocolate puff pastry or Catalan cream. We both chose the cream. It was divine! I detected a hint of orange blossom flavour in it.
The fixed menu costs €19 each. Great price for a deliciously generous meal!
We also had beer and Moscato wine which were extra.
Would have given them 5 stars but they were out of their daily special and Tarte Tatin (which is advertized as part of the fixed menu) when we arrived at 7:00!
Also, the service was ridiculously slow.not food arrival time but waiter attention time. A busy restaurant needs more staff!
I highly tecommend this place for a delicious and affordable meal. read more
