Without a doubt, you're in Brentwood. I find it so interesting how metro parks vary from city to city (and neighborhood to neighborhood). One thing I have definitely discovered along this journey of metro parks is that Brentwood parks all have a certain feel and more often than not, that feel is 'nice.' There's a reason people move to this area, folks.
I don't know enough about Brentwood to know if Granbery Heights is a neighborhood or subdivision (there's a difference), but the park (like many others in the metro) is school-adjacent. The school is an elementary so if you're not walking a dog or don't have little ones, I'd suggest coming here on the weekends so as not to look out of place or sketchy. The parking lot's not exceedingly larger -- especially for a suburban park. If it fills up, I didn't note much convenient street parking, as the park is situated in a residential area and you're more likely to wind up parking on someone's property. So, there's that.
But once you get over the logistics of parking, there's much to enjoy. You'll note, right off the bat, that there are large tennis courts and one decently-maintained basketball court. These courts will remind you that adults do come to the park... but they probably have kids/pets. Speaking of little ones, there are a couple of nice playgrounds on the property. While one is directly next to the school (and, thus, may not be part of the park per se) there's one that's definitely park property and it looks like a little kid's dream come true. If I were [redacted] years younger, I could see going hog wild on that thing. While there are no fields (baseball, soccer, kickball), there is a nice walking path that takes you by a small pagoda and through many lovely trees. I first came here in early spring and it must have been too early because the trees hadn't yet bloomed. But when they do, I bet this park is stunning. This wouldn't be a place I'd recommend one come to if wanting to run free (lack of fields, very hilly terrain) but as a place for directed play (how Randian) for adult and child alike, the park gets the job done. This isn't a destination park like Vivrette Smith Park but as a neighborhood resource, it's pretty nice. read more
