At this hostel there are many interesting nooks and crannies... like this outdoor seating area where we just ate lunch (plan-overs from Sunday's Cracker Barrell Cafe dinner). Quite charming!

Ok so I have to start with a quick little response to the super negative review below who was very concerned with safety. Yes, the neighborhood is a little sketch but it's YBOR! The whole place is sketchy, that's the fun of it... But the hostel is NOT unsafe in any way, there are security cameras all over the premises inside and out, the property is extremely secure. Now for my review: This is THE BEST hostel I have EVER visited. This place is a dream! The decor is a cluttered collection, a vast array of junk treasure that will have your eyes wandering constantly. My sister and I stayed for 3 days and 2 nights and couldn't have had a better time. The staff and owners were EXTREMELY accommodating and super fun to hang out with. We went to tampa/ybor/st pete for the specific purpose of going to a concert and planned on staying for a little extra time to go out a couple nights to bars/clubs close by, but this place was so fun and the people were so chill that we actually preferred to stay there and party instead. Met some great people and some cool travelers. This is the PERFECT place for anyone who has a case of wanderlust. I will definitely be back soon!!

FUNNN!!! Oh yes..... you have to see it before believing it.... When driving up here, I must admit: I felt a bit unsafe. I can't imagine this is one of Tampa's best neighbourhoods, so to speak. So I wasn't really sure what to expect... I had read beautiful reviews about this place, but while we were looking for it, meeeeeeh let's just say: ignore the surroundings and just go for it. It. Will. Get. Better! Gram's Place is basically a hippie playground; it's a 'compound' filled with all sorts of kitschy knick-knacks form around the world, the atmosphere is uber-relaxed, the people that stayed there are mostly young travelers / backpackers and no worries: it's not a hostel that you have to share bunk beds with a whole group (only if you want to), but they have 'private rooms' as well. To be fair, that's a bit more up my alley.... We arrived quite late; Bruce (the owner) opened the door and is such a cool, genuinely nice host! And it felt I stepped into a musical Wonderland; the place is dedicated to the late singer/songwriter Gram Parsons, so the whole atmosphere & all the rooms just breath 'music'; the rooms are musically themed (we stayed in the 'Jazz Room') and all the surroundings are just covered with musical instruments, sheets of music, CD / LP covers and what not. We did some shopping at a local grocery store and used the BBQ; oh yes... there's a great BBQ at one of the patio's for everyone to use as they please! So I stood there, in the warm weather with a can of Miller's, baking my burgers & sausages and I felt like such a Bohemian traveller! Yes, to be fair, I gave it 5 stars as the service was great, the room was tidy & clean, we had our own little bathroom, the atmosphere was just brilliant and totally unexpected. I do realize, this is perhaps not for everyone.... if you're into posh hotels, this is not your thing. If you're up for uber privacy, then perhaps you need to stay in your room. If you're creeped out by the thought that you share a kitchen & you need to do your own dishes afterwards, this is not the place for you. For me, I saw the beauty of it and I loved staying here. It's nothing I have ever seen before and I find it truly unique; it's very low key, it's a tad kitschy, you can definitely play hide & seek everywhere or stand on the roof. They wouldn't mind, it's the traveller's way!

Awesome hostel!!! Great people and vibe, friendly and helpful management :). Clean sheets, quirky and colorful decor, organized, breakfast included (peanut butter and jam sandwiches- jelly if you're American, eggs and cawfee) Definitely worth the cheap price and more

My husband and I went for a quick honeymoon getaway, just 2 nights of our Florida trip because our room was booked over the weekend. There was plenty of parking in front of the hotel which was perfect because we didn't need our car in Dunedin. Check-in was seamless and the communication with the front desk was excellent. We stayed in the Zen Suite which has a patio facing the street. There is a lovely wine bar with live music across the street. Both nights we sat outside and enjoyed the music but do visit Stirling Wine (I reviewed them as well, great crowd). The Zen Suite is so comfortable and thoughtfully decorated. Anything you need is already in the room including dishes, flatware, refrigerator, iron, blow dryer and robes. It was easy to relax. The king bed was very comfortable. We found everything in the room easy to operate - TV, AC, door locks. We also enjoyed the pool area. The pool wasn't heated so it was too cold for me but my husband enjoyed it. I relaxed on a lounge chair with an umbrella. We also took advantage of the breakfast promo with the red next door which was very convenient. Overall 10/10 doesn't cut it. We cannot wait to visit again and will stay at least 3 nights!

I have fabulous memories of this place! It's steps from the beach, and the room costs included a delicious, filling, homemade breakfast every morning (at that time in the spacious dining room of the main house), parking, kayaks, bicycles, beach chairs, towels, snacks/cookies, and at least one swimming pool. I was really impressed with all the amenities included in the room fee!!!! The proprietors and staff were so friendly and helpful embodying the motto "Come as a Guest, Leave as a Friend!" I smacked my finger while kayaking and it would not stop hurting and the staff were very helpful in getting us to a doctor, and of course, I broke my finger (totally my fault, Momma didn't name me Grace!) who x-rayed it, bandaged it up, and I was all set after that! Amelia island is a lovely, quiet, beautiful 7-mile island and so easy to bike and very bike friendly at that time! I really enjoyed biking the island, and ocean kayaking to a nearby restaurant - I think it was The Beach Bistro, or the Oyster Bar on the pier. It was so fun to "park" the kayaks and walk up to the beach front dining! A far cry from my landlocked hometown of Huntsville, AL. Ashley's Victorian Haven B&B was highly recommended, and for very good reason. This two-story house was built in the 1890's, and recently refurbished and stocked with a lot of period-piece antiques. Barbara and her husband, Larry, are the inn keepers and super-sweet people. They're long-time residents of Tarpon Springs, and can offer lots of helpful advice about what to see and do during your stay in the area. They bought this house, located in the old Historic District of Tarpon Springs, totally rebuilt and upgraded the place, and then named it after their daughter. There is room for three groups of people to stay within the B&B. The first floor of the house has a one-bedroom suite with two Queen-sized beds and a private bathroom with a walk-in, triple-headed shower, and a separate antique claw-foot tub. That's where we stayed. Also on the first floor is the kitchen, where coffee is served every morning starting at 7am. There is a very comfortable parlor with comfy seating on the antique sofas, and a large dining room with wonderful antiques on display. Step outside onto the front porch, and you have a porch swing, and plenty of quiet places to sit and read. Upstairs in the house is a second-floor suite, and out back is a covered patio with a smaller vacation cottage. We spent our late afternoons sitting on this back patio and visiting with Barbara and her husband. She used to own a well-known antiques store in town, and has decorated the Victorian Haven with some of her cherished pieces. Once Barbara starts brewing the coffee in the morning, all of the sleepy heads come staggering down to the kitchen to say Hi to one another and visit with Barbara. By 9am she has whipped up a fabulous breakfast including pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon, sausages, and more, and we all sit down as a group around her dining room table. She checks in with each of the groups to inquire about our plans for the day, and then makes suggestions as to the best shopping, dining, and sightseeing options. The lady knows her stuff! The home is located around the corner from the Tarpon Spring City Hall and police station, and so the neighborhood is very safe and quiet. You'll be walking distance to the famous Sponge Docks area of Tarpon Springs, and it was nice to leave the car behind, and get a bit of exercise. At night, the restaurants and clubs were also an easy hike from the B&B. We had a fantastic weekend staying in a very clean and comfortable B&B, and really enjoyed our visits with Barbara. She gave us some great recommendations about the new places to explore along Dodecanese Boulevard, and also the antique stores in the historic downtown shopping area. If you're looking for a great, reasonably-priced place to stay in the Tarpon Springs area, then I highly recommend that you check out Ashley's Victorian Haven B&B. The total provided at booking was around $650...after checking out our total then went to almost $1000. I understand the upgrade for the bay view of $30/night, however there are hidden fees that were not previously disclosed. In addition, someone charged a breakfast buffet to our room. I did make a complaint and was refunded, however they need to reconsider their methods for guests charging restaurant food to rooms. Overall the stay was good. I just think they should do a better job with disclosing hidden fees and restaurants procedures.
