It seems like there's a limited understanding of proper technique, and a lot of what's demonstrated would likely lead to bad habits in the long run. The classes often lack structure, and it's difficult to follow a clear progression in the training. Speaking with others in the Jiu Jitsu community, I've heard similar concerns--many have noted that he curses frequently, which makes the environment feel unprofessional, especially when younger students are present. On top of that, unless you sign up for a formal class, you shouldn't expect any instruction or feedback from him. Speaking of the kids' program, I'd encourage anyone considering it to take a look at their social media. The classes seem more like unstructured playtime than a focused martial arts program, which may not align with what most parents are looking for in a Jiu Jitsu school.

I'm not sure why anyone would buy the punch card if you can just pay the mat fee and still pay the same amount. Overall it seemed they were trying to wring as much money out of me as possible with no respect for the sport. Past gyms I have been to always made me feel welcome and it seemed more about establishing a community and spreading good energy, not about making as much money as possible. I was very excited when I saw the BJJ sign driving by but now I just feel disappointed.

John Bassford and Chris Garner are incredible at the sport itself but also possess a seemingly endless supply of energy, patience, and eye for detail. They will not coddle you, but they also will not make you feel stupid as you learn. And learning is what they want you to do. It is hands on, you will work with others in the class respectfully, they insure that. There is a limit anyone can learn simply practicing alone or with someone who will not challenge them. This is not something you need to take into consideration at Undisputed. If you want to improve you will have to suffer the pain education brings with it. Undisputed understands this. They will not antagonize this inevitability. Any rivalry that springs into being from sparring is kept amicable. For those with lousy vocabularies this means respectful, friendly, maybe even fun. All skill levels are embraced and all are welcome. It is a rare community, a real community, a place where you become part of something greater and are free to roam and lift weights or tap into the dynamic teachers who are there. Finally, Cassie worked with me on payment plans and proved that not all gyms are rigidly fixed on taking your money. She was accomodating and fair. As paying customers, we expected a more respectful and understanding approach -- especially considering how much we spend for our children to be part of this program. Young siblings naturally accompany parents to drop-offs and pickups. Instead of creating a welcoming environment for families, the owner made us feel unwelcome and disrespected. We came here for discipline and growth -- not to be treated as a nuisance. I would not recommend this school to other parents who value a family-friendly atmosphere and respectful communication.
