She's requested the last two visits to have her eyebrows colored with the same color as her hair. Her eyebrows were never colored per her requests. Instead, she gets her eyebrows waxed; in which she did not need nor request. The last two haircuts are embarrassing and were just plain negligent. I fixed the previous haircut myself for my Mother. My Mother paid $60. for a cut and color and gave Kim a $20. tip. She always tips very well in all the services that she is provided. When we got her home, we realized it was a bad, bad haircut. See the pictures. I couldn't fix this one as it needed a professional. So like my Mother and a lot of other Geriatric clients; she wanted to see if Kim could fix her bad haircut. When we arrived, all Kim could see is that my Mother had a small problem around her face. I stood up for my Mother and insisted that we leave. I even called out the unevenness in the back and suggested shaving it in the back to even it out, but instead; Kim gave my Mother $40. back. Kim kept the other $40. I will not take my Mother back to Arcade Hair Creations in Lincoln again and have found a much more professional salon and better hair stylist for my Mother. It cost her $40. to get her bad hair cut repaired and eyebrows colored; finally. Taking advantage of Geriatric clients is a crime. Not listening to them is a worse crime. I would rate these bad experiences at this salon as a 0 if it were an option on YELP. See my review on Youtube as well.

A young man came in asking for a haircut and the stylist asked him to have a seat. I told her I would look a little longer and decide what I needed. After I finally pick a product, I went to the register to pay. After standing there for about 2 minutes, I went over to the same stylist and asked if I could pay for this at a register. She said that I had to pay for it at the salon and that she would be with me shortly. Well, I waited over 10 minutes while she cut this young man's hair and engaged in small talk. It would have taken her less than a minute to have excused herself and checked me out. Technically, I was there before he was anyway! I just felt that it was very rude to make anyone stand there and wait until she finished that haircut. So much for multitasking. Never going back again. By the way, she never apologized for making me wait.

Hanovers Barber Shop

Finding a good barber shop in this part of Illinois seems to be no easy task. Since the shop in…read moreDelavan closed in 2011, it's been an ongoing search. Fortman's in Morton is a nice shop, but has more the feel of a salon than a traditional barber shop. If you're looking for the kind of shop your dad took you to, that had the fragrance of powder and after shave, with well-thumbed copies of Sports Illustrated, it can be a frustrating search. I have nothing against women barbers; I'm sure there are very good ones out there. For me, it's just that I've never been able to get a woman barber to cut my hair the way a man barber does; I guess what I ask for must go against the "principles of styling" or something. They want to make me look like a magazine cover; I want to leave looking like me. Anyway--Hanover's, Mason City--this is a solid barber shop, on the SW corner of the main intersection of town. There's no pole, and no big sign, so if you're not carefully looking for the shop, you may miss it. Jeremy, the younger barber there, gives me a good cut, is a friendly guy, and will take the time to do the traditional barbering I look for. The price was very reasonable ($10), the shop comfortable, and I've pretty much made it my regular barber shop.
