Michelle Rey about to check my little one's weight

From start to finish, my experience at Gracefull as a first time mom has been wonderful. My husband and I were able to meet all the midwives, even the students, throughout our prenatal visits which reassured us of the caring and knowledgeable hands we were under. They really looked out for me and made sure that if there was even a glimpse of a red flag, in terms of my health, to give me solutions so I could have the birth I planned for. The educational videos and informative visits really gave me a foundation for when I was in labor at home. With this being my first time, I was unsure of what to expect as it related to labor. I was able to put to use what I learned to get me through a very quick labor. I am not sure I would have been able to cope had I not been given tools to apply from Gracefull. I gave birth at the center and wow, what a time! I got to the birthing center at 2:00am and gave birth at 2:30am. The midwives were very efficient with this quick birth. I was so in shock after the delivery of my baby girl because of how fast it went, I was staring at a tub full of water that I never made it to lol. They gave me the freedom to birth how I wanted and it turned out to be a land birth on all fours lol. The next day one of the midwives Michelle, who happens to be one of my absolute favorites, did our postnatal check at home. She was so informative and really helped me cope with my new normal. She came back a few times that week to make sure baby girl was gaining weight as she was born at 5lbs 8oz. Michelle even brought me donor breast milk while I was waiting on my milk to come through. My mom even raves about how much she loves this birthing center and Michelle. Everyone she talks to gets an ear full about MY experience lol. With this being a new experience for my mom, in terms of birth options, she was beyond pleased with the whole experience. I have already recommended this birth center to everyone I know and I will continue as this exceeded my expectations and I couldn't have asked for a better team from start to finish.

After two pretty traumatic birthing experiences, I knew I did not want to bring my newest babe into the world under the same stress. I decided to go with GraceFull & I would choose this experience over and over again. The level of comfort & full disclosure is empowering. My birth was extremely fast but despite that chaos, Michelle kept me very calm and grounded. Under the current circumstances, I could never imagine dealing with the extreme measures being forced upon new mothers. If you're thinking about choosing GraceFull, do it! hop on a zoom, get some info. You won't regret it

I loooooved my experience here at GraceFull! I had a really poor experience with Kaiser at the beginning of the pandemic when I was preggo so switching to a birth center was essential to feeling heard. Right away I clicked with Michelle and then my hubby and I met Heba and Sara who were also AMAZING! We were able to have all three midwives at our birth and even though it was quite the experience to birth unmedicated - they were there getting me through each emotion. The facility (birth center) is soooo clean and cute and calming. I was in the shower laboring a lot and the shower is PERFECTION! They have all of the gadgets to make laboring easier and it helped 100%. I honestly cannot recommend them enough. My post partum care has also been essential. Every time I chat with a midwife they compliment me so genuinely and it makes me feel like a rockstar. Amy came over the day after we birthed and she was sssoooo helpful and shared knowledge about newborns so we could stop freaking out. We used the hotline when needed for me or for baby and they were always right there responding. I absolutely had the best experience and would recommend this place to anyone and everyone who wants to birth unmedicated! Also feel free to reach out to me with any questions you might have!

Amy from Gracefull visited us at home the day after my daughter was born

From my very first phone call setting up care through Gracefull, I knew I was in good hands for my second pregnancy. At every appointment, I felt comfortable and listened to. I typically met with Heba or Michelle, who are both really knowledgeable and reassuring, and everyone on the team is incredibly warm and helpful. It's hard to name anyone without listing everyone on the team. When my baby was born at the birth center, the entire experience was incredibly positive. The environment of the birth center rooms is very cozy and feels very tucked away and secluded. It was such a comfortable hideaway, like a little nest where we got to meet and get to know our baby before bringing her home. The follow up care is much more extensive than what I received after my first birth, which was in a hospital. There are more appointments and they aren't rushed. Our Gracefull appointments gave my family some much needed and appreciated support during the lonely months of the pandemic, and I had so many chances to address any questions or concerns I had before and after delivery. We're so appreciative for the experience we had with Gracefull.

I wanted to say how thankful I am for finally pulling the trigger and having a homebirth and it would not have been possible if I did not choose GraceFull as the place to help me with my final birthing journey. I appreciate all the midwives who helped me through each prenatal visit and answered all my questions. I was so nervous and anxious to have a home water birth although this was my fourth pregnancy it was my first time having a baby without any hospital intervention. GraceFull was there the entire time coaching me through my anxiety..not only that for the first time I went past my due date!! (Talk about really becoming anxious)....Three days after my lil one decided it was time to make her appearance...After 6 hours of active labor she was ready to enter the world. My midwives and her assistants made me feel comfortable and continued to remind me my vagina is magical!! Thanks Amy They were rockstars and after entering the pool during the transition part of labor and three pushes later my husband grabbed our new bundle of joy with the great assistance from our midwife Amy and our daughter was born. The best part was my older daughter's were able to witness every moment and even captured all the video footage for us. It couldn't have went any better. It's so bitter sweet to be done having children I wish GraceFull was there for the other three. I definitely recommend this birthing center. Communication was great. Information and knowledge about home birthing was great!! Even after my six week check up I still feel like I can go to them if I have questions. Definitely feel apart of the GraceFull family.

It was a privilege and truly joyful to give birth with these masterful and talented ladies! I regret it took me this long to write my review, because every woman in LA should know about GraceFull and the type of childbirth that they offer! First of all Elizabeth, Jocelyn and Abigail are incredibly KNOWLEDGEABLE! Every question I had, they had an answer to. They pointed me to the right books, discussions, and perspectives to form a plan with confidence. I loved Ina May's Guide To Childbirth the most. I loved Elizabeth's "Hats and Hormones" class, because it gave my husband and I the right and the courage to create a birth environment that was all about OUR families desires and needs and no one else's. It was the first time I thought about all the pressure we women put on ourselves to please mothers, mother in laws and other family members. Your birth is yours to have and remember so do it your way! The GraceFull midwives are also respectful of your ideas, fears, and birth plan and did everything to honor ours. My husband and I watched television for the first few hours of early labor, had sex, kissed and snuggled and then by the time Elizabeth showed up, my husband was playing songs on the piano while I sang along. When the contractions came I would hang from my pole (which my hubby held) and just breathed through it (in for 4 and out for 8). Elizabeth knew exactly where I was at (progression wise) the whole time and monitored only when it was necessary. She knew right when it would be a good time for me to get in the tub, and that the baby was coming. My other daughter, my husband, and even our family dog got to witness the birth of baby Dakota! We labored mostly alone because that's how we envisioned it, but when I needed Elizabeth and her knowledge, she was right there! Our Dakota was born in the water at 4:13am in September 11th, but if it weren't for Elizabeth, we could have lost our little one. My umbilical chord was only 9 inches, so I birthed the baby's head and she stayed there for a while, bungee jumping. The babies color was nice and I got on all fours to try and dislodge her shoulders, but it was the short umbilical chord and not her shoulders. Elizabeth noticed her color start to change in the water and made a very important decision to pull her out. Because the chord was so short, it was most likely torn or breached in some way, and the baby needed to come out ASAP. She clamped off the baby's chord and mine and we had our baby. Had she not been the incredibly masterful midwife that she is, we could have been in trouble. Had I been in the hospital, I would have had an emergency C-section. In the minutes that followed, our baby's Apgars were better than normal and we were onto stitching mama. I only had a tiny (4 stitch tear), but I appreciate Elizabeth's craftsmanship! I have healed beautifully and have a very symmetrical vagina postpartum. Yay! In the days that followed I had a ton of questions, and the midwives at GraceFull always had an answer that helped me every time. Even though Elizabeth ended up being my midwife on the day of my delivery, Jocelyn, Abigail, and every student/assistant I ever crossed paths with at GraceFull was professional, incredibly knowledgeable, and helpful! I also want to take the time to thank Nicole Lee, Gracefull's financial guru! With her guidance, I filed a complaint with the state against my insurance company, and got LACARE to write a "letter of agreement" that stipulated they would cover ALL of my bill with Gracefull. This is new territory and I just hope that more women have the same opportunity that I had! I am so grateful for these women and our birth experience. It was SO special and it would not have been possible with out Gracefull!

My wife Aria gave birth to our daughter at home in July of 2008, and Elizabeth was our midwife. The whole experience was amazing, and we wouldn't trade it for the world. Initially, we were going to have the baby at UCLA hospital with the midwives there, with Elizabeth as our doula. But as we entered our third trimester there was a dispute between our insurer and the midwives' practice there. We had been thinking more seriously about having the baby at home, and took that as a sign to do so. Elizabeth is a very calm, experienced, knowing presence. We'd been seeing her for months as a doula before she transitioned over to the midwife role with us. On the day of the birth, she created a very serene and comfortable energy within our house, and she continually reassured and empowered my wife with her words. At the same time, Elizabeth really gave us a lot of space and only checked in when necessary. Aria was in active labor for about 6 hours, pushed for 25 minutes, and gave birth to our daughter without any drugs, in a $25 target baby pool in our living room. The birth was such an amazingly intimate, special time for our family. And being able to carry the baby up to our own bed that night was an incredible gift. The only complication during our birth was that my wife had some tearing. Elizabeth addressed it perfectly. Elizabeth followed up with us with 1 day, 1 week, 2 week and 1 month visits, and was an invaluable resource regarding breastfeeding. She was made for this job.

I labored in their wonderful birth tub for 3 hours before I got out to push.

She guided me in improving my nutrition and keeping my blood sugar managed, and she connected me to a maternal fetal medicine provider for extra monitoring since I had an IVF pregnancy. Faith took my birth plan seriously and knew how important it was to me to have a water birth, so when she let me know my labor wasn't progressing enough and told me I needed to transfer to a hospital, I was able to trust her judgement. She remained available over text message for questions as well. Then in our postpartum visits Faith was so kind in hearing me as I processed the birth experience I had in the hospital and how it really wasn't what I had wanted/envisioned. She offered me a rebonding session in the birth room where I could basically redo my golden hour. It was such a healing experience. Faith and her team also helped me with filling for disability and completing that paperwork, which was super important to support me on my maternity leave. Sarah is fantastic!!!…read more This past spring, as the birth of my little girl was drawing near, I was getting more and more terrified of labor. I wanted to have a natural birth without medication, but was wondering if I had the strength to do it. I was so lucky to have Sarah recommended to me through a friend. As scared as I was feeling, I realized that I needed someone "on my side" to look out for me during the delivery. Sarah was so accommodating and met with me at a coffee shop to chat about my different options, told me more about what a natural birth would entail, and other considerations I hadn't been aware of. She was so positive and supportive that I left our first meeting feeling less fearful, even confident about delivering my baby! As a former L&D nurse, Sarah already knows so much about what labor is usually like, and what processes the hospitals will have in place. After my husband also met her, we both knew we HAD to have her on our team at the hospital when the baby arrived. Now that baby is 3 months old, my husband and I still talk about how invaluable it was to have Sarah coaching us on the big day. And, because of her help and reassurance, I now look back on my daughter's birth not as a harrowing event, but actually as one of the most amazing days of my life, and one of the most empowering things I've ever done. When the birth finally came, we had a number of unexpected scenarios, and Dawn was able to offer an informed perspective on what to expect, as well as what to push for and against at the hospital. She ultimately helped us make a very difficult decision, and if she hadn't been there, we firmly believe we'd still be debating whether it was the correct one. In the crazy tumultuous times of labor and welcoming a newborn into your life, the last thing you wanna do is an extra task. But Debbie was ON IT. she was so well informed, kind and a great communicator. She worked with us, navigated all the Hospital paperwork, had the dried placenta pills delivered it so promptly!!!! I would wholeheartedly recommend this to all mamas to be. Excellent experience all around! Thank you Debbie and LA Birth Partners!

The vibe was calm and expert. With decades of collective experience across hundreds of doula's in their network, Cheryl and Khefri taught it and you just felt their commitment to your eventual birthing experience and that this was their passion in life. They are accessible and show up for you like someone who would do this good work for free because they love sharing their superpower for the good of you and your family. And people would and should pay them millions for the service and everlasting memories they empower us to have, truly a unique and life changing experience and partnership. I got a recorded meditation that I literally listened to 100 times everytime I rested or took a bath. Come time for go time, it all fell into place. They instilled in us that we are not sick, or needing external help to give birth - I truly felt that our bodies know what to do, are built to do this, and that it's a natural and easy process - not something to fear, resist, fight, or try to make go away ie the contractions are our bodies doing a job and nothing to be afraid of. In fact, what if we embraced, allowed for, and appreciated the power of the body and our spirits to see this process through? Khefri's newborn class was incredible. We did a one on one. She gave us a literal list with links if needed, of what to buy if you are having a baby lol! What you'll need within the first 2 weeks. She showed us how to swaddle and bathe, hold and care for a newborn. I attended some of Khefri's kundalini yoga sessions for expecting mothers. It was so soothing and power inducing that I ended up playing the playlists during my 6 hours of labor. I was an over 40 first time mother. With Khefri (doula) and LA Birth Partners (class) and Birthfit (fitness) and LA Midwives as my partners - we had a successful and easy home birth as well! Though all the practices we could easily have tried at the hospital. In fact, a few months ago, I assisted my sister in her first birth as well. We did it at the hospital but was able to get contractions started naturally, used calming homeopathics and techniques (like birthplan on the door, don't ask me if I need pain meds I'll tell you, candles, cover bright machinery and lower beeping, etc). We could not have done it without Khefri! Literally, we did our last class from the hospital room. Then after the class ended, Khefri became available by text and phone to help us through the contractions! We had questions about the homeopathics, dosing etc to try to start the contractions naturally. She helped with all of it! I can't thank her enough, she went above and beyond, sharing love and support and expertise even more than any actual family members! You feel like you owe so much to these amazing doula's who believe in and know what's possible with a birthing experience. Even someone like me who'd never even seen a birth before, was able to have a homebirth when our western doctors were more than ready to receive us as geriatric mothers at the hospital. None of it was necessary. And we knew that, because we kept on top of medical visits etc leading up to the big day.

I really wanted to know everything I possibly could and I was also looking for a little community as I was feeling very alone in those first weeks of pregnancy (and overwhelmed with what I didn't know). AND THESE CLASSES DELIVERED! My husband is also a knowledge seeker so when I told him these were the classes I wanted he was all in. We learned so much. We joke that he didn't just learn about the natural birth process he learned how to be my "daddy doula". We still enjoy talking to people about everything we learned and how to support each other and how to speak to your doctors or the hospital nurses. Even if you aren't considering a natural birth these classes should be taken by everyone expecting a baby. You learn about the body, you learn about the different stages of labor, how to prep your body and your mind. There is even a class on breastfeeding which was invaluable those first 3 days postpartum. Lia is also an amazing teacher. If I have another I would definitely also hire her as my doula. She is a person you want in your corner during birth.

She's is a wonderful speaker and extremely eloquent but her involvement and skill set unfortunately ends there. Keely abandoned me and my husband during an emergency c section. One I think would have been completely avoided with a more experienced, empathetic and advocacy minded doula. I have a long list of reasons I regret hiring Keely but all I think that really matters is that I'm certain my birth experience was made considerably worse as a direct result of her involvement. I highly recommend a doula, just not this one. Good luck mamas!!!
