Both of our kids settled in well, were cared for, challenged, and more. They are play-based as a school, especially for the younger ages, and spend a lot of time doing play, music, crafts, etc. And our son in PreK made excellent progress on "academic" curriculum as well -- Spanish, sight words, writing, math, etc. In addition, the teachers and admins make investments in their character development -- learning to be empathetic, kind to others, etc. They've also been very easy-going in terms of scheduling the care we need for the kids. They are willing to work with part-time schedules, and you can take weeks "off" from preschool/childcare during the Summer for vacations without having to pay for the spot. We've been very pleased and would recommend this preschool to other parents without hesitation.

In particular Ms. Tina goes above and beyond for me. I dont have facebook (FB) and other than the office sending an email or the teachers putting a message on the app, all communication about (for example) spirit week, holidays, birthdays, etc. is done via FB. But Ms. Tina takes her time to text me every single message. She also checks in if she feels my son is having an off day. Her kindness has made me and my kids feel very special. Of course Ms. Danielle is also wonderful and always so kind and Ms. Jayla has even been to some of the kids birthday- she truly loves kids- so they are all amazing. They give birthday gifts, holidays gifts, etc. that THEY PURCHASE. Above and beyond. Ms. Iku and Ms. Bow are also wonderful to my daughter, though i dont have the same interactions. Ill just say they are very sweet. I dont know the other staff names, but as they run your kids back to class or up from class they are always kind. I love the security of the locked main door to get into all of the classrooms as well and the app that we utilize. Only using FB could be considered a negative to some (there are times I wish maybe there was more signage or emails sent but they also recently put up a board that they write things on which helps) but with staff like Ms. Tina it really doesnt bother me. But what really sets the school apart is a sense of community - it's a 50+ year old, single-classroom non-profit school which makes for a great environment for the kids to become friends, and the parents too. The school does a great job of providing opportunities for parents who want to be involved in their children's education, from light tasks like helping supervise special crafts sessions to larger commitments like serving as a board member. My older son really did not like the idea of school at the beginning of the school year, but as his academic and social skills improved, now every day is "the best day" and he loves showing us what he learned. It's been great seeing my kiddos blossom in their independence and also enjoy a sense of belonging at this preschool.

We are new to the area and I wanted to make a good decision for our family. The center is really diverse which was a must for me so that my daughter can be well-rounded. I love her teachers; Ms. Chrae and Ms. Qeyera show my daughter the best care and attention. They are a breath of fresh air. The transition has been smooth and so relieving. The other key component is planned interaction between students of all 8 grades. Going into 3rd grade, with the same teacher my daughter had in 1st and 2nd grade, she was anticipating the classes and activities that are attributed annually to the 3rd grade. Yes, she will have woodwork. Yes, her class will play traditionally 3rd-grade roles in the fall festival. Yes, her class will go on the weeklong farm trip to New York. In the curriculum, Waldorf wrote-in these three and dozens of other activities that are predictable. That predictability creates student anticipation, participation and success.

We are working parents, giving less than two weeks notice for a meeting at 4pm is inconsiderate. My sons teacher switched and I was never notified. I only knew because my son came home talking about a different teacher. No one ever answers the phone. Don't even think about scheduling your days off from work by the school schedule they give, HA! Dates and times change without appropriate notice. Teachers texting at 6am (on a weekend), or 9pm about school work for the kids. It's absolutely ridiculous. Likely my son will not be returning next year. We pay too much money for this foolishness.

We show up at 9:35 am & no one knew about my appoinment. The director wasn't there either. Strike 1. The asst. director came out to talk to us. As she is asking questions about my daughter, she yelled at me saying that I needed to tell her more about my daughter so that they can assess what classroom she would go into. Even my husband got a little loud because he didn't appreciate her tone of voice. Strike 2. We get led into the preschool room which is in the basement area of the building. I didn't like the set up of the classroom. There are too many steep steps for a toddler to go up & down on. To go out into the playground, another set of porch steps. Again, that's asking for a lot of falls with rambunctious toddlers. Strike 3. Their curriculum & workbooks were good. And they certainly seem like they are very into learning. They simply did not give a good first impression, which we all know is a lasting one.
