After spending about 10 years at a large mega church, my wife and I felt led to find a place where…read morewe could plug into community a little more personally and continue growing in our faith. About 10 months ago we started attending Authentic Life Church, and it has truly been a blessing for our family. From the beginning we knew the best way to connect was to serve, something we had done at our previous church as well. My wife serves in the high school ministry and I help on the security team. Getting involved right away helped us meet great people and feel part of the church very quickly. We also joined a life group that has been amazing. The support, encouragement, and friendships that have come from that group have meant a lot to us. Authentic Life Church has been exactly what we were hoping for, a church where faith, community, and genuine relationships are at the center. We are incredibly grateful we found ALC and look forward to continuing to grow here. If you are looking for a church where you can truly connect and build meaningful relationships, I highly recommend checking it out.

The message that morning stuck with me, and what stood out just as much was how genuinely welcomed I felt by everyone there. After the service, someone recognized me from high school and invited me to Tuesday Young Adults Night. I showed up once and was hooked. The community there is genuine, the kind of people who make you feel like you belong from day one. ALC has changed my life. I'm so grateful I walked through those doors.

This time was nice too, they do breaking of bread, though it was short, every week. They have an acoustic drum set! Worship is nice, they don't go too far into the deepend with the whole modern worship stuff like remodernizing Hymns and such. They stick to the true beats! The breaktime is nice, free bread with coffee and tea. The preaching time is usually on point, though you get hints of some reformed theology in there. God is sovereign but it doesn't mean he doesn't choose everyone! Just, not everyone chooses Him despite how he loves us all. Great community, short worship sessions. I'm sure the small groups and non Sunday activities are where it is at.

I was immediately greeted by a sweet older man who told me where the entrance to the auditorium was. Pastor Conrad was welcoming and encouraged all guests to meet and greet with him. Uncle Jimmy (Pastor Jimmy Rollins) gave an amazing sermon on giving through the church and ended with a video on Red Rocks Church's many campuses now serving families with children with special needs/disabilities. It featured a video on a girl named Hattie. I was incredibly moved by what this church is doing and being an example of the hands and feet of Jesus. The sermon was on a screen and was live from another campus but I didn't care about that, it was God's message that morning and I received it regardless of how it was delivered. The Worship team encourages you to worship the Lord, not their music. And they shared a new song they wrote. They work hard and serve hard. They are FIRE. From beginning to end, I worshipped (with arms up the whole time), I laughed, I cried, and laughed again, during the sermon. Lastly, when leaving the church, I saw the same elderly man (who greeted me before service) now walking side by side with a blind man, to ensure he got to his car in the parking lot. I encourage anyone to attend this church, you will feel the presence of the Lord. You won't just experience it, you'll see it with your own eyes, just as I did.

I've seen people step up and care for each other in ways I've never experienced before. Our family has experienced that directly. People here are honest about their shortcomings. We try to do that as a church. We know we're far from perfect. There's plenty of ways we could grow and become more healthy. An honesty about that gives me hope that it will continue to happen. I also love that there is space made for people to be wherever they are in faith here. Yes, we believe that Jesus is Lord and there is life in following him. We also know that believing that, and living into it, is a process in everyone's life and it seldom looks the same from one person to another. I hope people don't feel pressure to be something they're not. So, we're a small church, trying to love each other, Jesus, and the world well. Nothing more, nothing less.

One note, Yelp needs to update their records. This church was previously operating out of a rented school building, but they recently merged with an older church that had an existing building but was suffering from declining membership numbers. After the merger, the new church is now known as 'The Bridge Church at Bear Creek' and is operating out of the building that the older church owned. If you live at the Dartmouth Woods apartments across the street, this location is incredibly convenient, as you can attend church right across the street! If I do have one complaint... it would be the way they do communion. It is very old fashioned, with chalices of wine and loaves of bread. I guess some of the older folks probably like that sort of thing, but it seems very odd for a non-denominational church with a very modern style in most other respects. Also, the way people just put their hands right on the bread and rip off chunks of it is a little gross... just wait until flu season comes back around and they will be changing the way they do this for sure!
