I am new to Colorado and was led to visit The Rock through the recommendation of a friend. Wow,…read morewhat a church! The Lord sure is blessing The Rock and Pastor JR seems to be putting the money into the right areas. Let me tell you, if you have children of any age (teens included), you will be blown away by the facilities in the kids wing. I am talking indoor playground, any game system you can imagine, sports equipment out the wazoo and more. I'm a newbie so I am sure there is a ton I'm missing but I'm going to rave about what I've seen so far. Also, henceforth, I am only giving an account of the 1st - 3rd grade section as that is the only experience I have and that experience has been wonderful; not only have great entertainment but they are extremely organized as far as safety (Front desk where the children check in every morning, children receive sticker with name/number on it and parent receives matching number which must be presented in order for them to release children, at the end of service there is a person standing in front of the doorway to the kid's area, he'll call out the child's name to let them know to come to the front and then there is another person at the front who checks the numbers and then releases the child) and lesson plans. The first week my children were there, they had staff members dress up as characters and perform a skit to emphasize the moral of the week. When my husband and I picked up our children, we were given a pamphlet to put on our refrigerator outlining the lesson our children learned, the scriptures they talked about and the challenges they were to work on for the week. We receive this pamphlet every week and it's a great tool to encourage conversation on the way home what they learned because, let's face it, when you have a twisty slide reaching to the ceiling and plenty of room to run around with your friends, you're not interested in telling mom and dad about anything else but that. In addition to the children's programs, my husband and I have enjoyed the upbeat worship that, not only brings us in with the musical arrangement but, focuses us on the deep love our Savior has for us and what an honor it is to have the opportunity to worship Him. Pastor JR's teachings have been spot on and I have been so impressed at his transparency. The church I was with before I moved out here had a motto, "Real people serving a real God in real life". I loved that my pastor worked hard to make sure that we weren't a building of people putting on the airs but of saved sinners who were head over heels in love with Jesus and were going to bust our butt to live a life worthy of His love. I get that vibe from Pastor JR and I really appreciate it. I've been in churches where I didn't feel comfortable to expose any struggle I may have had and that stunk. It's not the way it's supposed to be but, with Pastor JR, I not only feel comfortable enough to share it but have a pretty good feeling that he's struggled with it too. It's real at the Rock and it's the way it should be. I haven't had a chance to get involved yet but I have seen the amazing amount of small group, community involvement, missions opportunities and support groups that are offered and I hope to be able to right a review full of some more run-on sentences soon. :)

Five of us (four adults and one toddler) attended the 9:30am service. We knew we were in trouble when half a mile from the church we were in slowly moving traffic. Luckily our son was just dropping the rest of us off and heading back home while we attended Mass. The parking lot was filled with plenty of men directing traffic. People seemed to be receptive to the direction and friendly. Walking up to the church we enjoyed the beautiful flowers and statues. Walking into the church we determined we had better find a seat quickly, which we did. Chairs were set up in the foyer and that is where we sat with about 50 other people. We never entered the sanctuary. We heard the priest's homily and readings from our seats and when it was time for communion, the eucharistic ministers came into the foyer. After Mass we exited, offered a bulletin, and walked down the street to meet our son to head home for brunch. The next time we are in Castle Rock (which is once a month) maybe we can actually enter the sanctuary and see what St. Francis parishioners see each week.

I have to say, this one was one of the most welcoming and organized churches around. That is very important to me, specifically regarding the safety of my children. I felt they had a great process for child check in, pick up, and they even had parking assistants to help you find a spot in the parking lot! The music was great, very practiced and the Sermon was delivered is a very understandable way. It was easy to relate what was being said, to my personal life and situation. This is exactly what I want. I don't like being lectured to, or spoken down to as if "they've made it to the top, and I'm still struggling on my path." I enjoy sermons where the Pastor relates our day to day problems and struggles with the scriptures. It feels real, it feels authentic. It doesn't feel "judgmental" so you look forward to coming back and hearing more!

I absolutely do not recommend this church…read more We attended Journey from 2019 to 2022. During that time, I went through a deeply painful period in my life--my ex-husband was cheating on me, but continually gaslit me, telling me I was crazy and needed medication. We went to counseling with Russ, who sided with him. Russ insisted my ex probably wasn't cheating and that I should seek therapy and get on meds. Eventually, the truth came out--he was cheating--and the church offered zero support. No accountability, no care, nothing. My mom, Debra Finnegan, also worked for the church for a while. In 2022, she lost both of her parents--and again, no flowers, no cards, no calls. No acknowledgment at all. And this week--on Thursday morning--my 28-year-old sister passed away unexpectedly. I reached out to Scotty, Russ, and Cory. Scotty read my message and didn't respond. My mom emailed Travis, who replied saying someone would reach out. It's now been nearly a week, and still no response from anyone. We lost a sister, a mom, and a daughter. I'm deeply hurt, disappointed, and disgusted by the coldness and indifference shown by this church. It's clear that care, compassion, and support are not values they live out--not unless you're a favorite or fit their mold.
