Beautiful worship space, with carved woods, stained glass windows, slate tile flooring, majestic pipe organ and soaring, vaulted arches. The architecture is referred to as "stripped down gothic" circa 1929 by Talmadge and Watson.
Well planned worship, with strong connection between the readings, the preaching, and the hymnody and other music. Talented individual and ensemble vocal and instumental musicians abound to regularly enhance the worship experience.
Grace Lutheran is an independent Lutheran congregation, having left the LCMS in 1977. Grace is a bit of a hybrid congregation, with much of the good of LCMS, but the look and attitude of ELCA. For example, the congregation uses the green LBW hymnal, has two pastors, one male, one female, and women and men play equal roles in the congregation's committees and governance. Grace's communion practice is open and welcoming to all baptized Christians. Children and adults are actively involved in worship. The church's membership's political and philosphophical views run the full continuum from conservative to progressive - and that seems to work at Grace. The membership is fairly sophisticated and academically oriented.
GREAT church to visit or to make your own. read more
