I have been a parishioner at St. Vincent Ferrer's for over 30 years. It is still my "home," even after I moved to the northern suburbs for my job in 2008 (and despite being laid off in 2010). I commute to Sunday Mass every week, despite 22-mile distance. It is the highlight of my week! I would be lost without the spiritual and personal connection! From my interactions with the teachers, staff and priests, it is a loving and vibrant community! And the Music ministry is exceptional! read more

I attended this church for many years. I was a member of the very first class to make their first communion here. Is has beautiful stained glass windows and a whole lot of marble. It has undergone some renovations over the years, the best spent funds went to installing the central AC. The soaring ceiling adds to the wonderful acoustics from the choir loft at the rear of the church, second level. Not sure if they still make the bride use the baptismal font area for prep instead of the bridal room, what was that all about??? Parking always was an issue. The 2 lots that flank the church just cannot hold the cars of all the attendees. read more

My cousin was very recently married here. The older woman named Diane who was directing the rehearsal was rude, abrasive, unfriendly, impatient, and unwelcoming. Sadly, the priest also appeared unfriendly, impatient, and uninterested in being a part of the rehearsal or the actual wedding. He never smiled and looked like he was eager to just do what he was obligated to do and get out of there. No joy, no warmth, no enthusiasm. The most shameful part of all....the priest never showed up at the reception to give his blessing...AND he had already been given money to do so and he accepted that money. So, in my opinion, he essentially stole from the couple he had just married. I am disgusted at how the people associated with this church is treating others. Wow. read more

Excellent growing Parish. Love it. Nice families, lots of events, lectures etc... Great School too. People are very nice.

Where do i begin, Let see . We were married in this church. I was so shocked on how we were treated. It seemed like everything and anything we were force to pay for. People i had never met were muscling us for money. We were never given a practice. So we were lost during the ceremony. The wedding coordinator was always upset and or freaking out about something. I asked the priest to join us at our wedding and he refused. "I usually get invited months in advance" is what he said! My reply was sorry we were never married before so we did not think about it. As well as everything else that we had to do on our end! If we had bern through this process before we wouldn't be here! The final result from this horrible treatment was we have not been to church since that day! Anywhere! If the Catholic Church purpose is to lose followers you are succeeding! If i am allowed into heaven i hope there will not be a credit card swipe at the gates! Thanks for the great experience! read more

My wife and I attend the Sunday 5:30 pm Mass pretty much every week. The Church itself is impressive and beautiful and well cared for: high ceiling, stain glass windows, statues, and side altars. I very much enjoy the music. The organist and chorister are first rate. The parish is administered by the Dominican friars of the Province of St. Albert the Great, headquartered in Chicago. Dominicans are known officially as the Order of Preachers. I especially enjoy the homilies delivered by Fathers Michael DeTemple and Tom McDermott. read more

We got married here and it was the worst part of the day. The attitude and stress the wedding coordinator gave us was not okay. They treated us like we were incompetent human beings. Not to mention we arrive the day of our wedding and the lady decides to yell at my dad....I'm sorry but I think he paid A LOT of money to get married here so back off. I would never recommend this church to anyone. read more

I have been attending this church for the last year, I was educated by Franciscan nouns in Panama and probably I am a little from the old times, as all the catholic churches I will say people are very into themselves and sometimes not friendly with newcomers, I experienced that, also priests sometimes pass next to you and not even acknowledged you even making eye contact, I experienced once when asking for a mass for my mother, I was told it was booked for that day and when I attended the mass of that day the lady reading the scriptures only called one name and I went back to the office and told the lady why? they only read one name and they are booked? And even though I agreed that they have many expenses to pay everything you asked has to be paid, in this particular church no memorial masses are done, but the charge for one is between eighty and one hundred dollars, is very sad also that when sermons are said none of the important things are addresses, one will be asking the parish people to be more friendly towards others, more compassionate when seeing others in need or crying etc. I am catholic and come from a very believers family and will never change my religion, I practice my fe as I was taught and with that in my heart I pray and go to church nor as an obligation but as a firm believer in the Lord, their behavior I leave for God to judge, but I have finally have to say that those are the reasons why they lost so many followers. read more
