I try to support small businesses in my community, but my experience with Grace Jewelers was incredibly disappointing and unacceptable. I brought in my wedding band to repair a diamond that had fallen out. The owner, Sovanna, personally confirmed the estimate and repair time. I paid nearly $500 for the repair, and picked it up a week later as promised. Just five days later, the exact same diamond fell out again. When I returned, instead of listening to me or reviewing the repair, Sovanna immediately accused me of bringing in a different issue. He dismissed the diagram he had drawn himself on the repair envelope, told me "you are unbelievable," and flat-out accused me of lying. I even showed him photos I had submitted to my insurance company to prove it was the same diamond, but he continued to argue with me. Only after re-examining the ring did he finally admit he was wrong and say he owed me an apology. There are two serious problems here: The workmanship failed in less than a week. The owner treated me with hostility and disrespect, rather than professionalism, even when the mistake was his. A repair should last longer than five days, and no customer should be accused of dishonesty when simply asking for the work to be corrected. Based on this experience, I strongly recommend taking your jewelry (and your trust) elsewhere. read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. I took a David Yurman ring in to have it resized. The jeweler confirmed that it was in fact a DY and told me DY pieces are tricky and tend to crack. To avoid this they told me he would have to use a laser (at a higher price) to perform the work. They told me the piece would be ready in 10 - 14 days. They even went so far as to tell me that it might be done sooner and that they'd call to let me know. Fast forward two weeks. I hand over my ticket and the young woman brings me my ring. I excitedly open the little ziplock bag and try on my ring. It's still too big??? What the ......??? The woman goes into the back and comes out with a story that the jeweler couldn't do it because it was DY?!?! When I point out that I had that very conversation when I dropped off the ring and the receipt indicates it is DY - she shrugged just her shoulders. Another gent (the one that helped me originally) comes out of the back and gives me more blah, blah, blah. Bottom line - the jeweler didn't want to work on my ring. And no one bothered to let me know. When I asked why no one bothered to call me - they had no answer. Let me be clear - I'm not upset that the jeweler did not perform work he was not comfortable with. I am upset because they wasted two weeks of my time. They were rude about it and tried to make me feel as if it were my fault for bringing them a ring they were not capable of resizing. And, had I not tried it on - the young woman would have charged me the quoted price. For the record, it would not have been her fault - she was as confused as I was. There was no note to indicate the work was not done. Or why?? Stay away!! Far, far away. read more

Purchased a Tungsten ring from this place 3 years ago. Part of the manager's sales pitch was that if I ever needed to get a new size, bring it in and it's free. They lied. Went in a few weeks ago needing a smaller size, they took the ring and told me that it would take a couple weeks. No problem. Received a phone call today that it was ready. $80. The purpose of the review is to inform the public not to visit the Grace Jewelry Store in Gainesvill, VA. I brought my bracelet there to fix the locking mechanism and remove three links. The owner said it would take a week and it took longer. Also when I went to pickup my bracelet, the owner told the employees to give me one link and to keep two links. We never agreed on that arrangement and knowing the price of gold only assuming why he wanted to keep the links. I recommend the public go somewhere else to repair their jewelry. read more

I LOVE this place! My engagement ring was sized twice a couple of years ago (my fiancé chose the wrong size initially and he didn't charge us to resize a second time). I just recently came to him for an entirely new setting on it, and two wedding bands. I asked to have all three within 24 hours, and he DID IT. I went here based on the Yelp reviews and boy am I glad I did. The owner is so personable and kind. He took my Grandmother's wedding band and my mother's engagement ring and made me a whole new custom set. It is stunning and he delivered exactly on schedule. It is worth the price to have something done with such care and concern. Our appraisals were done on other pieces and everything was so professional. I will never use another jeweler again. The quality and craftsmanship is impeccable. Worth every penny. On top of it all I just received a hand written Christmas card from the owner thanking me for my business and how he enjoyed meeting my dad who was visiting. I purchased my wife's engagement ring 3 years ago at Grace jewellers. We both love the ring, and added the wedding band at the appropriate time. We went into Grace Jewellers yesterday to look for a nice bracelet, and because her rings were slipping off of her finger: get her rings re-sized. Initially we we told re-sizing would be $150. My wife told the clerk we had purchased the ring there in the store. The clerk excused herself and sought out one of the senior people at Grace. In due time, she came back and stated the charge would be $100. Now perhaps I'm old fashioned and out of touch, but I have never been charged to re-size a ring of any nature at the store I purchased it from. I found the entire ordeal both rude and disrespectful. The senior never so much as looked in our direction let alone give an explanation. I felt disappointed and utterly disrespected. I will never step foot in Grace Jewellers again. For their lack of customer service, I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

Quick friendly service. They were quick to make a second adjustment for a watch band I'd previously had sized, and they gave my wife options for replacing a necklace clasp more to her liking and at a very reasonable price. It's a nice shop with a fair selection at the ready, but they do custom jewelry as well. It's great to have an option for a local jeweler instead of a mall store. My husband and I stopped in here this afternoon to inquire about rhodium plating for my engagement ring which is now 12 years old. I'm always reluctant to hand over my ring but boy am I glad I did! Yowza does it ever sparkle now! I clean it regularly but the gentleman behind the counter explained that they check the prongs and clean it with acid before applying the plating. We dropped it off, went to the movies, and picked it up when the movie was over! Awesome customer service and a gorgeous result. I'm not sure my solitaire looked this good out of the box. We were not familiar with this jeweler but they have so many elegant pieces in their cases. It's great to know they do custom pieces as well. I hope to return for another bauble some day! I walked into the store with an average expectation that I would receive good service, but I walked out with much more. I have now found a neighborhood jewelry store I can trust and appreciate! I went to Grace Jewelers with 4 basic rings and a pendant asking to "get an idea of what they were worth." Ten minutes later, they offered me $300 or so for the lot. I said no, I didn't want to sell them for gold, I wanted an idea of what the are worth, and specified "the size of the stones." The owner said that he would do that for $100, so I said yes. When I went to pick them up, what was inside the bag was literally a scrap of paper with the 5 items and 5 numbers. Stunned, I said, I don't even know what those numbers are: FMV, pawn value, WHAT value? A man who was working in the back (not the owner) came out and quickly gave me some measurements, but $100 for scribbling utterly useless numbers of a piece of paper? I still don't know what those numbers mean! Initially, I had also asked him if one of the rings was real Lapis, and he told me it was Onyx, but it is Lapis (he did write Lapis on the super detailed list). I just think that it was a sorta shady thing to do to squeeze a hundred bucks out of someone. If you don't want to deal with it, just say so! Two stars because the sales staff and the guy who measured the diamonds were lovely, but the owner, well, nope. Wouldn't recommend at all. read more

I bought a ring for my now fiancé from somewhere else that did not fit and had to be sized down 3 sizes. Of course I had to return the ring but the owner personally duplicated the ring and got it to me as fast as possible. This business is outstanding and they customize everything. He did not ask me for any money up front. He called me when it was ready and I came in and paid. If I didn't like it then I know he would of corrected it. I enjoy supporting family a family owned business. I dealt with the owner (Sovanna) when I wanted to purchase an engagement ring. My lady did not disappoint with expensive taste. I came to Sovanna in hopes he could make a ring with several key features of the expensive designer rings I knew she liked. I went in looking for an emerald in a nice setting. The owner told me not to look at the nicer Colombian emeralds since they're more expensive, and pointed me to the cheaper ones. I have never written a negative review before, but this one is truly deserved. I had an antique rosary that my husband bought me from France repaired - it was broken in one place, and I wanted to have a clasp removed. The repair job was done so poorly and so obviously that I could have done it myself. Also, the person who "helped" me was rude and did not care that I was obviously unhappy with the job that was done. Finally, I could barely even be heard over a dog in the shop who was barking loudly, sharply and incessantly. I was charged $30. I will not use or recommend this jeweler again. read more

We would definitely recommend Grace Jewelers! I needed to have my wedding band and engagement ring remounted into a sturdier setting after many years of wear. I knew my ring was in great care and really loved the ideas of using every stone to create a new setting, but I never anticipated the tremendous special care and thought and attention to detail into making my new setting just as special as the first day I was proposed to! My ring is stunning and so sweet with each stone placed beautifully--and there were two small diamonds that didn't fit into the setting so a pair of earrings were made for my daughter's wedding day (she is 11 right now and was with me on the day I dropped off my ring). This type of thought and personal attention was beyond our expectations and truly made this process wonderful and very touching! My ring always held a special place in my heart, but now I am able to share that with my daughter and know that my new ring is sturdy and forever stunning! Terrible customer service, horrible attitude and always puts down my fiancé's ring. My poor fiancé has left out of there the last three times after cleaning or needing an adjustment feeling like she has the worst engagement ring ever made. The guy behind counter never smiles, tells her of 3-4 problems with the ring EVERY TIME from needing plating to diamond flaws to poor sizing. All he wants is to charge to fix things that are perfectly fine!!! We have NEVER had a single negative word said by any other jeweler for this ring except by Grace. $30,000.00 ring that he didn't sell her so his misfortune has lead to such a resentment. I'd give them zero stars if I could. I took a Christmas present back in for exchange before the new year. I've had my eye on a Vera wang ring and they said they could recreate in a few weeks time. Four months later: they were late with the first call. My hubby was so excited to bring me something I REALLY wanted home. Well, they set it in the wrong gold -- they set it in rose gold where I asked for 14k. So they said 7-10 days to fix. A month later, I stopped in... of course the ring wasn't ready. They'd call. I stopped in again. Well, you see where we are repeating ground hogs day. Do I missed Christmas. Valentines, and now anniversary. I was set to walk in and ask for a refund if it weren't for work. So they called-4 months later my 2-week ring was ready. Again. Hubby picked it up and low and behold, a diamond was missing!!! Wtf. They responded same night, but my $2.5k ring was delivered in a paper sack with zero apology not offer for a discount. We won't be back, unfortunately.
