The lofty open lobby and glass elevator, all by themselves, strike me as the sort of features I'd see in a more expensive hotel. High marks for parking, reception, room cleanliness, comfort, and Friday-night noise levels. Any complaints I have a minor: the chime of the elevator heard throughout the night as it stopped at each floor (possible because of the multi-level open lobby) and the Styrofoam plates / plastic utensils at breakfast. Myra, the front desk clerk, greeted me cheerfully when I arrived without a reservation. She was helping other guests and literally hustled to get back to me. Beautiful Rooms: My king size room ($109/night) was huge, spacious, elegant, comfortable, and exceptionally clean (see pics). Also, it had a huge shower (I hate showering in bathtubs). The shower head was positioned about 7 ft up, had great water pressure, and I actually took the time to luxuriate in the feeling of all the warm water falling down like rain. Convenient (though unattractive) location: The location is convenient off the highway (near both I-57 and I-55), close to a string of chain restaurants. It is also situated right next to a Walmart for your shopping pleasure. The environs, however, are a bit dismal if you're looking for a 'room with a view'. Cons: Poor Breakfast: I would subtract a star and a half (if I could) for the underwhelming breakfast and confusing set up. To be clear, it doesn't matter to me if the hotel has breakfast or not, but if you are going to advertise a hot breakfast, then serve one. The Hampton Inn/Sikeston website advertises its free hot breakfast stating they are committed to making "that important meal a delicious one, too". Due to COVID, this hotel did not offer a self-serve breakfast bar, instead, you order from the rattled front desk clerk/breakfast server (which was the same person). All she had were sausage and biscuit sandwiches. I asked her what else she has, and she said yogurt. No bacon. No eggs. No waffles. No pancakes. It would have been helpful to have had a menu of what was available. Also, after finishing breakfast, it was confusing what to do with your trash and tray. Summary: On a final note, when checking in, Myra told me there was a problem with the room I reserved and upgraded me because she didn't want me "going on yelp and giving us a bad review". The rooms and site are immaculate, facilities and amenities are well maintained, a complimentary breakfast is very extensive, and uniquely, they offer the free "5:30 Kickback" which is a happy hour with an extensive snack offering. First impression was the oddly-located single elevator in the middle of the lobby - yet facing away from the front door. Due to this and it being slow, the area becomes congested with those waiting for it, those coming through the hallway, and those accessing the breakfast area. Upon exiting the elevator, there was no signage and we had to guess our way down a long corridor that appeared to dead end...but that makes an odd jog around a staircase and then down another corridor. Although supposedly a non-smoking hotel, our room smelled like a smoker's home and my eyes began stinging since I'm sensitive to it. Upon calling the front desk - we were told there were no other rooms available. Based on the parking lot, I'm not convinced that was correct. We actually considered forfeiting our stay/payment and getting back on the highway, but decided to go on to bed. After being asleep awhile, a high pitched squeal began which I initially thought was the a/c unit. Eventually traced it to the mini fridge and ended up needing to unplug it so we could sleep. But no sleeping here! At 4:42 am, our neighbor's alarm started going off. The walls are thin & they would let the alarm go for loooong periods before hitting snooze. The first round went off solidly from 4:47 am to 4:53 am. This continued multiple cycles, with a brief break, and began again at 5:50 am for a couple addition cycles. I lost count, but 6+ cycles. Got up earlier than we intended, after such a night of broken sleep. We didn't attempt the breakfast, as the experience had been so poor already. Since there is a similarly outdated Drury on up the highway, I'm guessing this is one of the original locations...but it needs to retire from the brand. Was an unfortunately bad stay, and will have us rethinking our confidence in the brand.

It looks very small from the street and maybe only have 8-9 rooms I think. It was very easy to check in and the lady was very nice. There is covered parking right in front of your room door. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked inside. It had a spacious living room area with a tv sofa coffee table and large chair, along with a kitchen, full size fridge, microwave, sink, actual dishes, coffee maker, a dining room table that seated 4 people. The king size bed was in this room. There was a small bathroom in the hall. There was a door that led to the other bedroom in the suite that had its own tv, a queen size bed, and then a huge bathroom. The shower was a walk in shower and was about as big as the other bathroom in the hall! The beds were very comfortable (I kinda wish I had that mattress at home) and the rooms were very clean. It felt like we were at a home away from home. Bonus was that they are pet friendly! There was some wear and tear in a few places. There was a little paint peeled off in the queen bedroom at the baseboard and the tile on the kitchen counter was cracked pretty good. It was nothing that was really noticeable if you weren't OCD lol. The checkout process was easy....just leave the keys on the table. And then a crew of loud guest that were next to me connected by adjoining doors was having their own private party. All of this amplified in my room. The one star rating isn't because of these children being children or the loud guest although they helped. it is because of the rude, nonchalant, non empathizing, "upset that I requested that my room be moved"- receptionist (Betty) that seemed to have had her peace disturbed from not doing anything --interrupted by asking her to do her job and accommodate a paying guest so that get a QUALITY rest. I understand this is not a five star hotel...but just some advisement to whoever trained this receptionist...a five star attitude will fill the parking lots and make this company more money. Bad attitudes will keep it empty on a half side of the building which is where she placed me. She gave me another room on the opposite side but it came with her only telling me the room number. No empathy at all only a bad attitude, face frowned and irritated, no words just, your room is...I continue to try to engage her and thank her for accommodating me as if she was doing me a favor! Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, staff is extremely courteous, and a good complimentary breakfast is served. Good things are definitely going on here, but with this said it is evident that a refresh, if not a complete refurbishment, is needed. Surfaces have dulled, carpets and painted surfaces are worn, and some bathroom fixtures have seen better days. Time takes its toll on all hotels and a little work would make a tremendous difference here.

This place was dirty (bathroom and bedroom area), noisy, lots of stains on carpet, ice machines and vending machines were not working ( okay, 2 of 5 were working). Hotel staff were anything BUT friendly. I could actually hear the conversations in the room next to us. The bed wasn't too bad, however. Breakfast the next day was previously frozen breakfast sandwiches sitting out on a counter in their packaging. Unsure if they were reused from previous day or not. Thus not wanting to risk food poisoning, we went to the Burger King next door.
