Last time I went my toddler opened the area for nursing located in the women's bathrooms, I apologized to the person who was there and I didn't get a smile or a response ( she wasn't pumping or breastfeeding just sitting) then to my surprised she was one of the lead singers! I get it we have bad days, serious days whatever but if you're up there representing I feel like you have to show some type of friendliness. I don't know just my opinion. The facilities are clean and recent renovations have produced many improvements like the "Treasure Galaxy" area for kids that features a space age / Pirates of the Caribbean themed fun area! This church has a lot of social outreach and youth programs. They partner with the Auburn food bank, Chinook Elementary Schools, The city Parks and Rec. department for food drives, and periodic work days and renovations. This is a congregation that lives according to the scripture. People are human, and because their love is put into action for everyone, there's no hidden biases. They don't enable you in your mess. They help those that want help. They don't water down the word, either you want it or you don't. And if you don't, they simply love you until you do or you choose to reject God. One month ago today, the police showed up at my front door and gave me the devastating news that my…read more24 year old son passed away. I will never be the same again, yet will continue to trust and have faith in the Lord. God truly gives peace that passes all understanding, which is something I could not fabricate. I was in Minnesota at the time where my husband and I own a home, but the majority of the family live in Washington state. My daughter in law called several churches in that area where we could hold Jacob's memorial service. The people at Calvary were so kind and helpful. We were touched by the fact that funerals or memorial services are offered free of charge for families as a community outreach. The church provides the building, parking, pastor, funeral coordinator, printed programs, chair set up and take down if you need additional seating. The church also provides a tech team to help with the the music, and a separate reception team. The reception team did a beautiful job with decorating. They also provide the coffee, tea, cups, silverware, plates, napkins etc. Basically everything is free of charge except the food. When the reception was over the team gathered the food that had been brought in and packaged it up for us and loaded it into our car. The team stays behind to clean up with the dishes, tables and chairs, etc. Kathy who is the community outreach director and Sandy who is one of the volunteers were so helpful and organized. I feel that when families experience this horrible kind of tragedy, it is such a blessing to have someone from the church do so much of the leg work, offer their facility and the many people who donate their time to help others. To the wonderful staff at Calvary. With my deepest thanks, I appreciate your generosity and kindness during our most heartbreaking time in our lives. To my son Jacob. You will forever live in my heart, and I long to see you again in heaven where there will be no more death, sadness or pain, but everlasting life. To God. I spent a long time looking for a church that was God centered and rightly guided and frankly while no church is perfect, this church was perfect for us. We help out with sound, lights and projection on the odd Sunday or we sit in the second row, feel free to come and visit and find my husband and I. I would love to do church with you and introduce you to my pastors Andy, Brian and Abel, who are some of the best spiritual leaders I have had the pleasure of meeting. If you want a church that is perfect, has all the best people, only sings the songs you like and gives sermons that won't offend you or challenge you then this is not the place for you....
