When we moved to Orlando in 2018, we embarked on a journey to find a church that felt like home. After visiting nearly every church within a 10-mile radius of downtown, we found our spiritual refuge at Grace Church Orlando--a place where God's reassurance and the warmth of His body are undeniable.
Over the past three years, we've taken the time to learn about Grace, serve within its ministries, and even benefit from its excellent counseling services. This year, we're overjoyed to officially call it home. Here's what you can expect on a typical Sunday: warm, welcoming faces genuinely excited to see you, an abundance of doughnuts (yes, doughnuts), worship with heart and flair, a biblical yet relatable sermon, spontaneous prayers from strangers (whether you realize it or not), and, did I mention the doughnuts?
Grace is truly a "come as you are" church. Whether you lean toward casual attire or feel comfortable dressing up a bit, you'll find yourself among a diverse crowd--from laid-back free spirits to Lily Pulitzer devotees. And while a three-piece suit might raise a few eyebrows, you can be assured there's no judgment here.
One of the most beautiful aspects of Grace is how it bridges the gap between tradition and simplicity. For those with a Catholic background like me, there are touches of familiarity--such as the Eucharistic prayer before communion and the recognition of Lent with Ash Wednesday services and enhanced immersive experiences. Advent is celebrated with heartfelt traditions like lighting the candles of love, hope, joy, and peace. At the same time, Grace simplifies the journey of faith, removing formalities like rosary prayers and the necessity of specific rituals, focusing instead on Jesus' sacrifice and God's boundless love.
Pastor Mike's sermons are delivered with genuine passion and authenticity. Grace combines modernity with elements of liturgy in a way that resonates deeply and challenges you to reflect on how to apply Christ's teachings to your daily life.
For us, Grace became a true community through its student ministries. As children of immigrants, my husband and I often felt like outsiders. Serving on the student hospitality team has allowed us to create the kind of welcoming environment we always longed for. Sunday nights are a haven for middle and high school students, where small group leaders and hospitality staff work hard to know every child by name. And yes, they may come home with a box of doughnuts--fair warning!
In addition to student ministry, we've found growth and connection through men's and women's ministry nights and are excited to start our first marriage small group. Grace has helped us prioritize Christ in our lives and deepen our walk of faith, even with our busy schedules.
If you're searching for a modern-day liturgical church that inspires reflection and encourages authentic connection, I wholeheartedly recommend Grace Church Orlando. Come with an open heart--you'll leave with both your spirit and your hands full (likely with doughnuts). read more
