We had to go check out the legend of a massive warehouse of books hidden inside a deceptively industrial area. The entrance and parking lot for Dollar Book Swap are located in the back of the warehouse block they are in, and there are two ways to access the back. One "road" if one shall loosely call it that, is gravely and filled with massive potholes making for an adventurous ride. The road on the other side of the building also gets you to the same place... but it's paved and in good condition... choose your own adventure! Then it's through a door that opens up into... a massive warehouse space. Keep going and then you'll see them. Books. Everywhere. Shelves, giant boxes, display areas, library carts.... all full of books. There is also a DVD section. Smaller rooms open up off of the spaces, one with children's books, another a mystery/suspense room with, fittingly, a taped outline on the floor. There's even a corner space with food items. The vast majority of books are $1.25, with some exceptions, like the step into reading style books 2 for $1.25 or the bags of children's books you can fill for $10 a bag. The selection is a mix of new and used, and as one might expect, it just depends on what they have in stock at the time of your visit. It's a fun adventure to comb the shelves. Check all the nooks and crannies... there's a "book cave" in another corner. Service was friendly and efficient to check out. Fun place to explore if you're in the area.

There was a line out the door and due to social distancing guidelines they are limiting the amount of people allowed in at a time which was much appreciated. It was also well worth the wait! We ended up picking up the most lovely and unique gifts. The staff were also super friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town!

They have a large selection with reasonable prices for a smaller store, as well as a large area full of discount minis and books. I know that it's tempting to buy the same product on Amazon or another big box store and save a few bucks, but remember that smaller stores have to purchase the same products at a higher price (they can't order the same bulk volume that Amazon can). The people here can also give you individualized recommendations, education about basically any tabletop gaming subject, informed recommendations, and are even happy to just shoot the breeze about gaming in general. That's the kind of attention that you will not get from an online store or a big box store. They rely on your purchases to keep their doors open.

My hubby and I liked it a little more than Heart of Ohio because they actually had quite a lot of pop culture items instead of only antiques. And their prices are very reasonable!! Great place for Gen Xers who love all things 70's and 80's! They also had vintage clothes and antique furniture and items like Heart of Ohio does. Sadly, they do have the dreaded glass cases where you have to hunt down an employee just to look at something, but not as many as Heart of Ohio has. And they have a decent system set up for alerting the employees that you need help. We will be back to this one very soon!
