The sign outside proclaims, "Best sausage rolls in the City", so says Evening Standard. So of course I had to go in.
It's a tiny sandwich shop, with a menu that seems to change pretty much daily. I've been twice now over the past few months and both times I've had a sausage roll. They are delicious - I'm not sure they're the best I've ever had but I can't think of one better, so maybe they are. Buttery, flaky pastry, a healthy coating of mustard inside the sausage roll, and a good quality sausage means it's putting the nearby Greggs to shame.
The lost star? The sausage rolls are very pricey, for a single sausage roll that, while bigger than Greggs, aren't going to fill you up properly. I think they're £3, which is crazy.
The second time I went in I also got a cookie - and it wasn't cheap either and it wasn't great. So treat yourself to a sausage roll, especially if you're a tourist visiting the nearby St Paul's Cathedral, and just put the cost out of your mind. read more
