    Cheesy dip

This is a smaller version of the Grace in the Seaport area in Boston. We had reservations for dinner before the Four Tops/Temptations show. The greeter wanted to seat us right in front of the live music which would have been great in some instances but we knew from experience that the music would be too loud to have a conversation, so we asked for one of the empty tables further back. We were told they were all reserved (all of them?!?!?) so we wound up sitting at the bar. Which was fine, but don't you know we kept our eyes on those "reserved" tables for the rest of the time we were there and they never did fill up. One star off for misrepresentation. The bar turns out to be a good setup (although you back is to the music). Comfy chairs, and you can get the same menu items. I had a fruity drink and their cheese dip which was mouth watering. My companion had catfish bites which are a must-have. The music---the act before the main event, which we wouldn't see--was so-so. A gentleman playing keyboards and an odd mix of standards. Not jazz or R&B, which fits more the vibe. Speaking of which, it is low-lit, beautifully decorated, chill. Not sure I'll be back but the food is excellent.

Grace by Nia was a fun way to end my husband's birthday weekend at Foxwoods! It had a speakeasy vibe (which we love!), amazing drinks, and pretty great soul food. The oxtail onion soup and cornbread were our favorites. It was also nice to have live music to listen to while enjoying a meal. A very classy spot! We'll definitely be back!

The food here was alright. I'm not saying it was terrible but it wasnt amazing either. The food could definitely use more flavor. It tasted essentially generic. The vibe and ambiance was dope especially with the live music which was the main reason for the visit. The oxtail empanadas was really really good. Just slightly pricey. If i do go back it would be more so for the live music.

I had a nice big review but my Yelp app glitched out on me. I was hoping for some classic soul food dishes, but this spot has a big modern twist. Bottom line is that this is not soul food, it's "inspired"

Attended a birthday party at Grace by Nia. I mean this set up was bad ass. The ambience, the decor, the live music it was Everything! We had the empanadas, and cat fish bites absolutely delicious for my entree I had the cast iron mac and cheese. It had no breadcrumb topping, and it was very bland I had to add salt and black pepper. Then I had the two piece fried chicken and biscuit. The biscuit was hard and burnt on the bottom, and the fried chicken was not seasoned.....was really disappointed. The drinks were okay. Our waitress was attentive, patient and professional. However, our food did not get cleared away seamlessly as it should, we cleared our table to make room. That needs work. The bus boys need to be more attentive to tables. This is a fairly new establishment and I want to see it be successful a few kinks that can be easily fixed. However if this is a jazz club with southern food flavor don't cater to the masses stay true to our southern comfort food and ensure that food is well seasoned. See yall soon.

My friend and I came here for the jazz brunch on a recommendation from another friend. I was really surprised that the place was not all that busy the day we came. Brunch includes live music which was nice. Loved the decor. We were seated right in front of the stage which was great but made it a bit difficult to have much of a conversation due to noise level. We ended up having the chicken and waffle since our first choice was not available. Service was good. Great dining option that is conveniently located in the casino.

Lychee mojito and Maryland crab dip

My friend and I are going to the Third Eye Blind show... so food is a must. We looked around and found Grace by Nia. VERY chill vibe. Think southern style jazz bar. Just less suits, and more hot honey sauce. We were seated right away, by super friendly staff. Orders were... ordered. A lychee mojito, Maryland crab dip, and a hot honey chicken sandwich... It came in fast and hot and everything is EXCEPTIONAL! The crab dip reminding me of summers in Delaware and MD. The chicken sandwich was a flavor explosion. Sweet, spicy, tender, just AMAZING. Of course, the lychee mojito was expertly made. No alcohol burn but the flavors melded perfectly. Overall, a chill, fun, and excellent place!

    Honey butter cornbread

My friend and I decided to visit Grace after the Mike Epps show. The description of the menu choices made us go there. Everything sounded delicious. The restaurant was very laid back, gave a sultry feel. Lighting was low, band was on point. The furniture and decor were beautiful. The only thing that kept me from giving this place four stars was the food. It wasn't bad and it wasn't good, I just expected more. I ordered a Caesar salad with anchovies and honey butter cornbread. My salad had no season and the anchovies looked / taste like some type of pickled sardine. The texture of the cornbread was a little off. I was expecting it to be moist, warm and fluffy. Instead it was a tad hard and room temperature. Now, the drinks didn't disappoint. My friend loved it. If they stepped it up in the kitchen, this place would be GREAT!

I am very surprised by the reviews of Grace By Mia. My son-in-law took us all out to dinner and we all very much enjoyed it! We were met by a very friendly and professional staff, taken to our seats and had great service all night. The seating is a little odd for a group, I did not see if the booths in back were more group friendly. Where we set all the tables were 2 seats facing the stage. It is family friendly, however, I would not recommend smaller children. There is a jazz band every night, which we loved, but not sure littles would. Our service was prompt and great! Very helpful in navigating the menu. The drinks were all very tasty, and mine was lit on fire to give it a smokey taste!!!! We all tried each other's meals and all of the food was delicious!! My Oxtail and grits was absolutely amazing! Everything I tried had deep and interesting taste which is right down our alley!! As I said, there is a Jazz band that starts playing at 7:00. Go enjoy some great music and delicious food!

    Delicious beignets

So let me get down to what was ordered. Started with the oxtails over some creamy coconut grits then some mac & cheese with a Ritz cracker topping and a 2 piece and a biscuit with hot honey and pickles. To finish dinner off some delicious beignets were ordered. Here's my gripe, my mac & cheese wasn't cheesy or creamy at all. All my cheese was at the bottom of the skillet. Flavor was there but no cheese pull. Fried chicken was crispy and hot but again all I tasted was rosemary & thyme. There wasn't enough seasoning standing out or a combination of all three. Last but not least the oxtails were tender and tasty but had a lot of fat and not much meat. Grits were good but I would've prefered regular grits so I could taste the oxtail gravy more. I'll come back. Hoping the food may have just been off this night. Overall great place.

I picked this location b/c I was in Foxwoods for an event & wanted to try this new soul food restaurant. I've also seen videos this restaurant has a live band/singer & it is black woman owned. I wanted to support. It just recently opened I believe on 5/22/23.I came to celebrate my birthday w/ my bf,sis,& her bf(his birthday is a day after mines). I can't tell you how disappointed I was. The food wasn't even soul food so I have no clue why it is advertised as so. It tasted far from soul food I am used to. The waiter was very friendly! I ordered the 2 piece(fried chicken) & a biscuit. For the table,I ordered ISLAND STYLE EMPANADAS(Jerk chicken and braised oxtail stuffed pastry, savory consommé), CAST IRON MACARONI & CHEESE(Cavatappi pasta, four cheese blend, firecracker breadcrumbs),honey roasted yams(Charleston purple & jewel yams),& heirloom greens(stewed greens,Swiss chard,& cabbage greens). Empanadas came out 1st those were tasty. I wasn't too hungry so I packed most of my food but I did take a bite out of everything. Chicken was mediocre. Biscuit was really good & had a just right nice buttery flavor. Mac & cheese wasn't cheesy & a little watery. Greens were really sweet & idk why. The cabbage that was mixed in it was super hard/crunchy & not cooked enough. It tasted raw. Yams had such a weird taste I can't explain it. When I got home & warmed up my food chicken was raw. Remember I only had a bite to taste. I can't believe they served me raw chicken. My bf's chicken was raw as well. My bill was almost $400 for 2 plates of salmonella & mediocre food. Very overpriced & so not worth it.Skip this 1 hard for food. If you want to get drinks & listen to live music that's your only bet. I would have gave it 1 star but the waiter, live music, empanada, & biscuit saved it.

This restaurant was ok, in my opinion. We tried several things from the menu. Caribe yard bird was good. It had a unique flavor to it as all the food did the yard bird came with succotash. I've never had it before other than here at this restaurant so I can't really say I don't like it but it wasn't bad. I liked the jerk chicken oxtail empanadas in the sauce it came with. It was flavorful and crispy to the bite. The two piece and biscuit I enjoyed the most. It was crispy hot and came in a honey sauce. The biscuit was delicious! The Maryland crab dip had some spice to it. I love spicey food. It came with Ritz crackers and crispy plantains chips to dip in. It was tasty! The smoke break cocktail was good too. They light a small flame on it. I would give it 4 stars, but I was expecting a more traditional style of soul food. This restaurants food has a twist to it.

Granted I sat much closer to center for John Oliver rather than the free tickets for charity at the Alice Cooper concert. Even so they don't have a lot of screens for people far away or at weird angles to see clearly. The ushers were moderately helpful in directing us the appropriate seats. I wish the staff were more attentive at monitoring the audience. The entire time for the Alice Cooper concert we had a very annoying guy standing, whooping and hollering incessantly. Thankfully he wasn't directly in our line of sight but hearing his added noise was not appreciated. He was too far away for us to yell "sit down". As it's located in a casino there are other things you can do afterwards to hang around. The con is you still have to walk through the smoky atmosphere. Aside from that it's a decent venue for live performances if you can snag a closer seat. It doesn't feel too overwhelming like an arena at 4,000 person max capacity.

I want to say this because I don't see or hear anyone else doing it. I have never met or seen a more dedicated group of people working so hard to save an organization. I am so impressed with each person I have met there. They give so much to keep what may be the best kept secret in Norwich going! I think you should check them out! I attended a movie night recently and they were showing the movie recently released about the life of Steven Hawking. The theater was surprisingly comfortable and the quality of the viewing and sound were superb. Okay, the seats were not like a movie theater. But you could even buy popcorn. And the most surprising thing of all is that not one of these people gets paid to do what they do. And when I went to a meeting with some friends tonight at the gallery I got a preview of a fabulous show the volunteers were mounting for the art faculty of the local community college. If you enjoy viewing fine art, you do not want to miss this show! Since I first moved into Norwich I was told that downtown was to be avoided. But I have been there and eaten wonderful foods and walked all over and been in some fabulous small shops and not a single person ever threatened to mug me. No one even came near. I think it is time to dispense with a rumor that causes more suffering than anything else in Norwich. Check out downtown for yourself and don't miss the NAC's doings!
