This is a romantic and retro restaurant located within Foxwoods Casino. As soon as you come in the main entrance, take the elevator down one level. The ambiance was like a speak easy with a modern design. The food and drinks were good but a little pricey. Also, the restrooms are outside of the restaurant in the casino. Walked in on a Saturday night, there was no one eating there and no one working there except the bar tender who was all alone. Felt bad for him. Not really sure how/why it is still open. I don't even know if they actually still do live music. The menu doesn't match the vibe they're going for. I kept looking at the wrong menu for the location outside of Boston which makes a lot more sense. The one in Foxwoods has chicken and burgers. We ended up just leaving. If they don't change things soon I don't imagine they will stay open much longer. Which is unfortunate because it's already a newer place. My siblings and I celebrated our mother's birthday here a few days ago. While the seating arrangement for all of us (12) wasn't the greatest, we enjoyed good food, good service, and good entertainment. The drinks were made very well. Even though I didn't order it, I really enjoyed the pasta and will order it the next time I'm there. I ordered the oxtail with grits which was okay. The grits were delicious. This is a smaller version of the Grace in the Seaport area in Boston. We had reservations for dinner before the Four Tops/Temptations show. The greeter wanted to seat us right in front of the live music which would have been great in some instances but we knew from experience that the music would be too loud to have a conversation, so we asked for one of the empty tables further back. We were told they were all reserved (all of them?!?!?) so we wound up sitting at the bar. Which was fine, but don't you know we kept our eyes on those "reserved" tables for the rest of the time we were there and they never did fill up. One star off for misrepresentation. The bar turns out to be a good setup (although you back is to the music). Comfy chairs, and you can get the same menu items. I had a fruity drink and their cheese dip which was mouth watering. My companion had catfish bites which are a must-have. The music---the act before the main event, which we wouldn't see--was so-so. A gentleman playing keyboards and an odd mix of standards. Not jazz or R&B, which fits more the vibe. Speaking of which, it is low-lit, beautifully decorated, chill. Not sure I'll be back but the food is excellent. read more

Attended a birthday party at Grace by Nia. I mean this set up was bad ass. The ambience, the decor, the live music it was Everything! We had the empanadas, and cat fish bites absolutely delicious for my entree I had the cast iron mac and cheese. It had no breadcrumb topping, and it was very bland I had to add salt and black pepper. Then I had the two piece fried chicken and biscuit. The biscuit was hard and burnt on the bottom, and the fried chicken was not seasoned.....was really disappointed. The drinks were okay. Our waitress was attentive, patient and professional. However, our food did not get cleared away seamlessly as it should, we cleared our table to make room. That needs work. The bus boys need to be more attentive to tables. This is a fairly new establishment and I want to see it be successful a few kinks that can be easily fixed. However if this is a jazz club with southern food flavor don't cater to the masses stay true to our southern comfort food and ensure that food is well seasoned. See yall soon. read more

My friend and I are going to the Third Eye Blind show... so food is a must. We looked around and found Grace by Nia. VERY chill vibe. Think southern style jazz bar. Just less suits, and more hot honey sauce. We were seated right away, by super friendly staff. Orders were... ordered. A lychee mojito, Maryland crab dip, and a hot honey chicken sandwich... It came in fast and hot and everything is EXCEPTIONAL! The crab dip reminding me of summers in Delaware and MD. The chicken sandwich was a flavor explosion. Sweet, spicy, tender, just AMAZING. The only thing that kept me from giving this place four stars was the food. It wasn't bad and it wasn't good, I just expected more. I ordered a Caesar salad with anchovies and honey butter cornbread. My salad had no season and the anchovies looked / taste like some type of pickled sardine. The texture of the cornbread was a little off. I was expecting it to be moist, warm and fluffy. I am very surprised by the reviews of Grace By Mia. My son-in-law took us all out to dinner and we all very much enjoyed it! We were met by a very friendly and professional staff, taken to our seats and had great service all night. The seating is a little odd for a group, I did not see if the booths in back were more group friendly. Where we set all the tables were 2 seats facing the stage. It is family friendly, however, I would not recommend smaller children. There is a jazz band every night, which we loved, but not sure littles would. Our service was prompt and great! Very helpful in navigating the menu. The drinks were all very tasty, and mine was lit on fire to give it a smokey taste!!!! We all tried each other's meals and all of the food was delicious!! My Oxtail and grits was absolutely amazing! Everything I tried had deep and interesting taste which is right down our alley!! As I said, there is a Jazz band that starts playing at 7:00. So let me get down to what was ordered. Started with the oxtails over some creamy coconut grits then some mac & cheese with a Ritz cracker topping and a 2 piece and a biscuit with hot honey and pickles. To finish dinner off some delicious beignets were ordered. Here's my gripe, my mac & cheese wasn't cheesy or creamy at all. All my cheese was at the bottom of the skillet. Flavor was there but no cheese pull. Fried chicken was crispy and hot but again all I tasted was rosemary & thyme. There wasn't enough seasoning standing out or a combination of all three. Last but not least the oxtails were tender and tasty but had a lot of fat and not much meat. Grits were good but I would've prefered regular grits so I could taste the oxtail gravy more. For the table,I ordered ISLAND STYLE EMPANADAS(Jerk chicken and braised oxtail stuffed pastry, savory consommé), CAST IRON MACARONI & CHEESE(Cavatappi pasta, four cheese blend, firecracker breadcrumbs),honey roasted yams(Charleston purple & jewel yams),& heirloom greens(stewed greens,Swiss chard,& cabbage greens). Empanadas came out 1st those were tasty. I wasn't too hungry so I packed most of my food but I did take a bite out of everything. Chicken was mediocre. Biscuit was really good & had a just right nice buttery flavor. Mac & cheese wasn't cheesy & a little watery. Greens were really sweet & idk why. The cabbage that was mixed in it was super hard/crunchy & not cooked enough. It tasted raw. Yams had such a weird taste I can't explain it. When I got home & warmed up my food chicken was raw. I've never had it before other than here at this restaurant so I can't really say I don't like it but it wasn't bad. I liked the jerk chicken oxtail empanadas in the sauce it came with. It was flavorful and crispy to the bite. The two piece and biscuit I enjoyed the most. It was crispy hot and came in a honey sauce. The biscuit was delicious! Grace by Nia is a decent spot with great atmosphere and good to pretty good upscale soul food. I came here for a birthday celebration so seating was not an issue. Our waiter was good although he'd vanish for a while. We ordered drinks and appetizers to start. I had the empanadas and I found that I preferred the chicken to the oxtail. There is a good amount of heat so if you are sensitive to spice beware. I also had the Brussels sprouts which were ok. The best part was the dressing the sprouts were tossed in. If the sprouts were crispy with that dressing it would be a ten out of ten. For my main course I had the burger which is exclusive to Foxwoods. The burger was good despite it being really soggy on the bottom making everything slide out with each bite. The Cajun fries had way too much seasoning on it causing the spice to overpower any flavor. The fries were cold and soggy as well. I also tried the fried cat fish and chips which was pretty good. I enjoyed my drink the unfashioned which is their take on an old fashioned. I also tried the Miami Beach which was a little too sweet for my taste. Overall the atmosphere and vibe was cool. It reminded me of a 1920's style bar with the decor. Live music was a nice touch and definitely heightened the experience. Can't say that it was enough for me to make the long drive back but if I happened to be at the casino I'd probably stop by. read more

We decided to visit again tonight on our visit to Foxwoods. We made a reservation and were excited for live music and a nice dinner. We arrived at our 6pm reservation time and found no one at the host stand. We ventured inside and found the bartender prepping the bar for the night. He informed us that there is no longer any live music AT ALL. He apologized for the confusion and the lack of notification on the website and reservation platforms. They literally have the words LIVE MUSIC on the outside marquee and advertise on their website as such. What a disappointment for us and a huge mistake for management. Needless to say, we ate elsewhere. Restore the music and maybe we'll be back. read more

Grace by Nia is such a unique dining concept for Foxwoods and CT as a whole! I don't know too many places in the state that have such a cabaret feel to them like this, let alone ones that feature a soul food menu. We were lucky to have such a great table close to the stage! The appetizers definitely started out strong. We really enjoyed the hot crab dip which had a thick layer of cheese on top! The plantain chips were a great pairing and held up well for scooping. I always order fried green tomatoes when I can, and we found this to be flavorful as well. The creole pasta was tasty, though it was very pepper flavor forward. This was only our second time trying oxtail, but we enjoyed it as it fell off the bone easily. It's a great dish for those who like something sweet with the molasses braise and coconut grits. Our drinks were great, and our server was attentive for most of the meal. It was a little tough to get ahold of him when we were ready to box our food, and then it was hard to hear him over the volume of the music. Overall, I think this is a really unique dining experience. It's a perfect excuse to get dressed up and have a nice night out at the casino, and there's really not a bad seat in the house for enjoying the music! read more

I went to Grace by Nia this past weekend. I had a great time. The food and drinks were spectacular! The band and songstress were enchanting. I danced and tapped my feet all night. Interior is beautifully done, hard to believe you are actually in Foxwoods. Probably the nicest interior of any Foxwoods venue. Huge bar and lounge area with a lot seats. We sat at the bar and had a couple of drinks. Did not have any of the food. The bartender was very attentive probably because we were the only ones at the bar surprisingly on a Friday night at 7. There were a few tables of people eating. Honestly we left because the band that was playing were way too loud. We had a hard time carrying on a conversation at the bar. It must have been deafening for the people sitting directly in front of the stage. One table of 6 moved over to the side of the dining room while we were there. Another soul food option in Connecticut? And a jazzy environment too? Count me in! Me and my family went for brunch on Sunday, and I am sad to say we were largely disappointed. I ordered the shrimp and grits - but the grits were not nearly enough. This shocked me because grits are fearless inexpensive and tend to be plentiful at restaurants. They were delicious - but I wanted more, especially to eat with the shrimp, which I wasn't quite able to enjoy with the grits. My family tried an assortment of other dishes, but they were underwhelmed by the flavors in for example, the fish and chips, pepper pot, and deviled eggs. Lastly, a draw for this business was that it is Black owned. It was disappointing to see that so very little of the staff and entertainment was Black. For it to be a place designed around Black culture, music, and food - the people employed there should reflect that as well. I hope to return, if things improve! read more

We were the only people in the restaurant. 5:40 the waitress came out to tell us that they forgot to put the muffaletta in and it would be another 10 minutes. Sept 21, 2024 I had a reservation at 6pm. I arrived exactly at 6pm and checked in with the hostess. I asked if the rest of my party had arrived and if they were seated. She told me not yet and parties would not be seated until everyone arrived. I sat at the bar. At 6:10 I checked with the hostess again and asked if I could walk around the restaurant and check and was told no. I sat back at the bar. 6:20 I asked the hostess again if they arrived. FYI there is zero cell service in the restaurant so I could not reach them. At 630pm I check again and then my wife walks by the bar and is shocked that I am there as she had been seated just before 6pm. I went back to the hostess and was super upset. Her reaction was " Oh My Bad". No sorry no anything. Then I asked another employee if I could talk to the manager and he says I am the General Manager. I explained what happened and said that the hostess messed up badly and that she needed to get her _hit together. The GM rather than apologizing said that my demeanor was unacceptable, he felt threatened and I had to leave. WTH. My wife and niece got charged in full, had to leave their drinks and appetizers behind. This place is so unprofessional and the food stunk as well. DO NOT GO HERE! read more

The atmosphere was beautiful and the band was ok(I'm not into jazz). I didn't like paying $10 pp to listen to a band. The place could have been cleaner. I saw food under a few tables.
