Has a market as well, but I did not stop to shop. I did however stop at its food court for some food. A nice place for the weary traveler such as my self to grab a bit to eat, window shop, pass the time, or even buy a few provisions for the road.

It opened to the public on Thursday, April 25th, 2013. The most stupid thing you can do with a new mall is not to show any direct links to the shops and restaurants on the homepage of the mall. The homepage of the mall has a very ugly design and does not give the information people are looking for when they want to get to know more about the location - no common sense at all!!! The design is very impressive, the technical security is at first sight ok. The shop mix is very good, the elevators work and there are enough. There are also enough staircases and escalators. The position and amount of securities is good. Although thier knowledge about what to find where is poor. There are some information points which is good and compensates for that. But you ask the securities first when you are new to the center and don't know where the info points are. The big plus is that all major transportation companies have information shops there. CAT - train to the airport has the biggest office at the Mall. Wiener Linien - is responsible for all Viennese undergrunds, trams and busses. OEBB - the main Austrian train company. There are also enough ticket machines and monitors. The big minus is that there are already lots of malls in and around Vienna. There are not really new shops and people have not much more money to spend. Tourists of course will drop in coming from the airport, as it is one of the major stops of the airport train, but they would not spend much money there as they want to do some sightseeing first before spending money for shopping. AND - because of the amount of people you will have problems at the train and underground stations on the long run. The restaurants are great, but this also means that all other shops and restaurants around will lose business, economically not very well-planned.

The…read moreatmospheric location with its gorgeous old-fashion enclosed elevator and huge spiral staircase, chased by a polished wooden banister, improves the store immensely and gives the Vienna flagship an injection of sophistication and class. Definitely beautiful to walk around, though be careful, those stairs are narrow and it's a tight squeeze if some girl is coming down with a mobile phone glued to her head. H&M is split on three different levels, menswear on the bottom and ladieswear and accessories on the ground and second floor. The layout is clean and, rare for all H&Ms in my area, very spaciously laid out. I did not feel crushed in an aisle. Racks are organized with room to move while still presenting the clothing well. It definitely has a boutique feel. Stock and sizes are limited because of the space. I saw fewer larger sizes than small and medium ones, though this could simply be because they go through merchandise quickly. Call ahead if you want a specific item. The shoes here are particularly small (not much larger than European size 38) and the accessories were pretty picked over. Upstairs and downstairs cashiers also help reduce lines, and the later evening hours are good for shopping after a day of sightseeing or working. This spot is very popular with tourists on Kaertnerstrasse and the Stephensplatz, so expect it to be busy. I had little trouble locating a salesperson when I needed help.

Good selection to be had and a nice place to browse about. Sports experts have an large selection of sporting apparel and equipment mainly (at this time of the year) winter sports and the prices are quite competitive. Saturn as well is well stocked with the latest and greatest of electronics but tend to be a little pricier than some of their rivals. Thats not to say that you cant pick up a bargain or two during their frequent sales. A nice shopping experience, sort of like a concentrated Mariahilferstrasse in one building.

My fiancé looked for a dress shirt here (men's department, I forget which floor), and the lady was a bitch ("kind of" redacted). The whole floor was pretty much devoid of other people, but it took forever to get some help, then she let him try on only ONE shirt. She insisted that the others (in the same size) would all fit the exact same way; I believe the idea of sizes running differently for different brands, and wanting to see how colors/patterns look, was lost on her. Either way, we left immediately - the shirts were all overpriced anyway. Pretty much everything in this store is stupidly expensive, although their women's shoe department seems to be a bit of an exception (maybe I have a bias?). That department have a lot of sales, though, and since the ladies working there were nice, I have been back to that one department. I've given this place 3 stars instead of 2 because: --In the basement of Gerngross is Merkur, a higher-end grocery store in Vienna. It's owned by the same company that owns Billa (another Viennese grocery store), but it's more expensive than Billa. Merkur IS much bigger, and tends to carry items that Billa doesn't, so we'll go to Merkur when we can't find something at Billa. --On the fourth floor (American 5th) is an electronics store, Saturn. This is kind of the go-to electronics store, and the people there are generally pretty nice and helpful. We've bought a space heater, Nespresso machine (don't judge), humidifier, soda/CO2 machine,* oscillating fan, and various little items like CAT5 cables, etc, there. I like Saturn. They also sell prepaid and region-free cell phones, CDs and vinyl, computers and iPads, etc. Note!!! Saturn takes only cash and Bank-O-Mat/EC cards (Austrian/German debit cards) - they will NOT accept American debit/credit cards, so bring cash!!! We go to Gerngross for Merkur and Saturn more than anything else - the rest of the store (the department store/ "Macy's" part of it) is wayyy too expensive to bother with. *I'm obsessed with soda water. Don't judge.
