I can always find something I'm interested in for $10 or less. Jerry's is a third place to me. It's a must visit every time I'm back in Pittsburgh! Jerry's is estimated to have over 500,000 records. Here's what I've learned from my two years in Pittsburgh to help sort through the collection: 1. Best sellers are located upfront. Normally there's a few of each artist: The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Rush, Aerosmith, and many more. Price range between $20-60 2. For people starting out, Jerry's has a lot of well known albums and artists for $7-8 a record. Common finds: Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Santana, REO Speedwagon, Jefferson Starship/Jefferson Airplane, Elton John, STYX, and Chicago. 3. Huge Christmas selection in the $3-20 range. They likely have what you're looking for. My boyfriend's mom was looking for Christmas with Mitch for many years. She found 8 copies at Jerry's Records in less than 15 minutes. 4. There's a large Broadway and musical soundtrack section tucked in the corner down the first hallway on the right. Normally they are about $5-15. 5. Before checking out, look at the record and sleeve for damages. From experience, most priced above $7 play really well. They may have a few crackles, but a quick wash takes most of that away. Things in the $3 range are risky.

Excellent selection and friendly knowledgeable staff. Could be a dangerous place without a spending…read morelimit!!!

That's unacceptable and she was most likely given a $7 value of grenadine at best. I've become somewhat of a frequent flyer, trying to make it weekly. When I do I have a routine and have found some absolute classics for an unbelievable value. The staff and service is great whether I'm in the record store or in the bar the staff is always friendly and helpful. Sometimes just end up talking with the staff long after I checked out. I've gotten some great hauls at great prices. I've left there with 7 albums for $76, also have spent $50 on 1 album. The actual number of albums in the store isn't as large as some other places in the city, with that being said it's a good thing because the store isn't filled with vinyls no one wants. Quality over quantity never matters here. Which makes going through the selection so much less overwhelming than some places I've been, especially if you're newer in the vinyl world. I've been to almost every record store in Allegheny County. The Government Center is definitely in my Top 3, and it's not 2 or 3. S/O Walter and Baby I forgot to mention in my original review. Aforementioned the record store is attached to a bar. To be able to drink a few beers while you look at records, the vibes here are immaculate.

Just tell security you are going to the record store and they let you in. It's upstairs when you enter on the side. Nice, large selection of new titles and flows from the front and into rooms that also contain shirts, 45lps and CDs. As you work thru, the used album wind around and sections are labeled nicely. Prices are slightly higher compared to other records stores in Western PA and eastern Ohio. If I'm looking for a specific title, this store would not be my first choice but would be an option if having trouble finding a unique title. I would go back but it would not be a planned trip, etc. As of 2/25/26, You may find slightly better deals at Jerry's in Squirrel Hill, Preserving Vinyl in New Kensington, Geos in Youngstown OH, Music To My Ear off Babcock Blvd or Inner Groove in Monaca. Hard-to-find, rare, classic pressings as well as newer recordings. I could spend hours just looking at all of the albums and learning more about music that I love as well as bands and singers I don't know tons about. This is really just a fun shop that carries so much history, art and joy in the form of vinyl. Even if you're a modest collector you have to give yourself the pleasure of enjoying all that Get Hip has to offer.

This particular store is in the Village Square Mall. For many years, I purchased books through the business's website. Most recently, my husband and I shopped in this physical store. My husband felt interested in looking at books about software and gaming. He saw some books that he liked. However, he saw one book that he already owns and that he said was not worth the $75 price tag. Otherwise, I felt interested in the books about photography, film, pets, and the social sciences. This store has many other sections of books, including home repair, interior design, gardening, fashion, architecture, cooking, history, science, travel, language, crime, children's, etcetera. Some books are collectibles such as first editions and signed copies. This store also sells calendars, greeting cards, board games, and more. I will give a neutral rating for this physical store, because the business's website has a significantly larger selection of merchandise that is available for shipping.

But I particularly love Rickert & Beagle Books; it's such an excellent addition to the South Hills area and it's the perfect place for a fantasy and sci-fi fan like myself. Also, I kind of have to love this place just because of the people behind it. Locals may remember that this store used to be Eljay's Books when it was under slightly different management. Now it's owned by Chris Rickert and fantasy author Peter S. Beagle - one of my favorite authors, in fact. With owners like that, this store has just naturally evolved into an eclectic and fun little place. Stop in and you'll be able to browse through selections of sci-fi, fantasy, horror, mystery, paranormal studies and history books. It seems like there's at least a book or two from every other genre as well, but that list is really where the focus lies - which I love, because as memory serves the average selection was more or less the exact reverse back when bookstores were more commonplace. Plus, here there's just as many smaller names as there are names of renowned authors sitting on the shelves. I actually came in once with a friend and the store took her own book on consignment, so I can promise that the chances of you finding an "off the beaten path" book here are pretty high. Thanks to this varied selection of books from so many genres and a big background of names, it's easy to get lost in here for hours just browsing titles. It doesn't hurt that you can also buy other trinkets here, such as Rickert's knitted wizard and bunny figures and jewelery made by a friend of the store. Add in the special displays featuring various autographed and rare books, as well as the special events that are hosted here (where you can purchase special edition products, enjoy some snacks and live music, and more) and you've got a cool little addition to the community that I really hope is able to stay in business for a long time to come.

No prob, I have a cell phone, so I called and asked if they were open today. A decidedly unharried gentleman said yes, but no book trades today. No problem. But on arrival we discovered that he took me a bit literally and did not answer the subtext and they were closing 3 hours early--in 20 min. It's not a very big store, so this was almost enough time, and likewise I am sure such things are less likely at other times of year (i.e., this was between Christmas and New Year's) but still you've got to take a bit off for customer service. Otherwise, the store is nicely laid out, has that old book smell I love, and has particularly charming shelf labels (see photo). It's great for the sci-fi my family loves and has a robust mystery section. As a fiction-not-otherwise specified reader for the most part I found that section worth browsing, if amusingly and inaccurately labelled "classics." It's one solution to the question as to what to call the non-genre when the genre (ghetto) takes over the store; certainly "literary fiction" is rude...and perhaps just as inaccurate as "classics" with respect to the work of Sophie Kinsella. On the other hand they are all used so perhaps the label classic intrinsically applies to the entire store.
