Also, the prices are reasonable for the experience. The 1st time I went here I had a quail which was delicious and enjoyed a crisp Riesling wine. For dessert I had the crème brûlée was pretty good. That time I went as a party of 3, but it was good we added a couple to make a party of 5. The next time I had the seafood bouillabaisse with some honey chamomile tea. The soup was delicious and the tea was presented well (tasted fine). Everyone appeared to enjoy their meal quite a bit. I tried the beef which was also delicious while the pork was a bit dry (still tasty). Overall, I highly recommend this place for a nice dinner (I'd totally have a romantic date here).

Sometimes I think I must be complainy, difficult and a very demanding customer, but this time I…read moremust say I was calm and relaxed and I just do not know what was going on that last time I visited "Le Coq" in Neuenheim. I was pleasantly surprised that when we were able to get a table without reservations at one of my favorite bistros in Heidelberg, on a Thursday night at that. Firstly rule, if you want to eat at Le Coq is make a reservation. Being able to walk in and get a table is like trying to win the Lotto, it doesn't happen often but you are very happy when it does. Naturally, the place was packed and we sipped a very good Sauvignon Blanc from the open wine list and chatted, while waiting for our main courses. Our food came and both my friend, J., and I realized that our fish with champagne sauce and spinach was terribly undersalted. No problem, we both grabbed the salt shaker a few times and added some salt to our meal. No complaining going on here, just a few joking comments about the cook definantly not being in love. Time to pay and the very nice waiter asks us how the food was people he asked am I supposed to say good if it is undersalted. Hmmmm?! So we mentions that the fish entree could have used more salt. Is that really so terrible? Hmmmm?! Didn't think so until the manager came over smelling like stale smoke and berates, yes berates, us for my comment. Telling me that I know nothing about making delicate champagne sauce and feeding 100's of people a night. (Hey, who knows maybe the other 100 people thought the fish was undersalted. Do I know?) I gently try to let him know that I was asked how the food was and mentioned it was undersalted, no crime on my part and hey, I am still the customer and paying a good EUR 20,00 for my dish. Do I deserve this kind of attitude from the manager? So anyways, now that I have vented, I feel better. I still love the french bistro Le Coq in Neuenheim, but I hope the manager has a better day the next time I eat there and the cook uses a bit more salt. Hey, but that is just my opinion.

Herrenmühleühle checked all of the bookmarks: beautiful ambiance and French-inspired cuisine using seasonal ingredients. Our Tunesian waiter (I'm not 100% on his name, but believe it was Fahti) was phenomenal. He was always there when we needed him, cracked jokes that kept us going, and was just genuinely a nice guy. He is a keeper! Initially, I was disappointed when we got the menu. I was dead set on trying their lobster bisque with langoustines, but the menu changed. Story of my life. The amuse bouche quicky turned my frown upside down, as it was very tasty. So here's everything I ended up gettin: -Chestnut soup with duckbreast (2.5/5): I didn't understand this dish at all. The duck strips were served on the side with orange slices. It was odd that the meat was served cold, but the flavor was great. The chestnut soup had a thick texture and was so sweet that I couldn't eat it. After two spoons, I was done. -Fillet (5/5): beautifully prepared piece of melt-in-your-mouth meaty goodness. The accompanying multi-colored carrots were flavorful and had a lovely cruch. We also had the fish dish and deer and my family enjoyed it. For dessert, we got a fig tart with baked apple sorbet. They added a mascarpone ice cream on the house, which we appreciated.

Service is excellent, the waiters were polite, attentive and even helped me take pictures. The food was fantastic! I had a bonito lentil salad, which had this excellent complexity from the smoothness of the bonito to the somewhat rough texture of the lentils, topped off with a cream cheese dressing that blended it all together nicely. Next I had a very smooth, creamy and frothy pea soup with fried prawns that came with caramelized yams, which also turned out to be a sublime experience. Next I had a veal, which was very tender, it was good, but not particularly noteworthy, followed by a very tasty trout ceviche, which had this lovely tang from the fruit sorbet. My main course was a grilled fjord trout, which was well cooked. This was a very pleasant experience, and I'd be sure to come back again should I return to Heidelberg!

Maybe I felt this during my Work lunch.
