Mills has a ton of inventory, both new and used. What I like is that they have a locked rarities case where you can still flip through the records while the case is locked. I found some cool gems in there. I purchased a couple small things for my daughter but no vinyl purchases for me, unfortunately. I would definitely come back here again if I'm in the area.

I was taking a one-way trip to Alaska and not sure if or when I would return and if I did return would I be broke, so I put my entire collection on consignment at one of the greatest record stores to ever exist in this city - Recycled Sounds. I had worked there for several years and it was the greatest experience of my life, but needed to roll the dice in pursuit of making some big money, so my vinyl became a safety net in case I came home broke or broken. I ended up returning with a bit of money in my pocket, a bit more upon return for the sale of the collection, but worst of all - no music. I built a small collection of CD's but it wasn't the same; flash forward 30 years and I've become the person that I once derided - a consumer of streamed music. The lesson for all the kids out there - don't get rid of your records. They have made a surge in popularity over the past 15 years for a reason - something physical, liner notes to read, cover art to admire... OK, so what does this have to do Josey Records??? Josey records puts me in my happy place when I go there. The nostalgia of rummaging through the bins even if I'm only there a couple of times a year buying some vinyl for the one cool friend that still is collecting records. Even though I only buy records for others now, I've picked up some cool music related gifts such as today - a music magazine and some Misfits socks for my wife. So even if you stream music, get yourself into Josey's or any local independent record store and give them as much support as you can, so there will always be brick and mortar record stores. "Don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you got 'til it's gone..."

I didn't purchase anything but I looked around for a while and they had a great selection of used vinyl. They were all organized nicely as well. There were a couple records that I ALMOST bought but I took a breath and put them back, lol. The employees all seemed really nice as well. I would definitely go back to Josey Records if I'm in the KC area again.

It's huge inside, tons and tons of used vinyl. A small but mighty selection of new records too. I would love to come back with more time on my hands to go through the crates of jazz and classical. Their RSD selection was healthy too. There was a basement with this year's and last year's selections. When I checked out the staff was super friendly and seemed to enjoy their jobs. I had a few more bucks until I reached my records budget for this trip. I walked in and was greeted with the sales shelf when I walked in. It was in the middle of the floor, I couldn't miss it. The sole worker (I think she was the owner) greeted me and offered me a beverage: beer, soda or water "Help yourself!" she said. That was the second time I was offered a drink in my record shop trips. As I dug through the crates, I noticed they were all still sealed. So I asked the young lady if they have any used vinyl and she responded that they sell all new albums. There were some good records in there. A clean version of Stillmatic! 25th Anniversary of Naughty By Nature, DMX Live from the Rollin Loud Concert, AND The Chronic. Had I bought any of them, I would have blown my vinyl budget wide open! I stayed in the sales crate and grabbed DJ Khaled's Victory which has 'All I Do is Win'. Although I prefer used vinyl, I know of a place to look for specific and new albums.

Didn't know this place existed!…read more Stopped in on a lark and bought three LPs right off the bat. This place is a dream. It's look and feel harken back to the old days of being able to wander into a record store shop around and flip through several hundred LPs check- out the latest stuff in from both the new and the latest used music. Then you can wander over to the other part of the store and look at the classic toys you grew up with and reminics about how much your Heman collection would be worth. Then snag a Voltron figure for your office shelves! I guess this shows how nerdy I actually am... but I know I will see many of you at this store!

It didn't seem too outlandish even for the new arrivals. Everything was organized by genre then alphabetically, so it was fairly easy to sift through the rows of records. The gentlemen who helped us was super kind. He even offered to play anything before buying it.

As someone newly into vinyl, it's a great place to stock up on some interesting finds. The barista was friendly and gave suggestions. I didn't get a chance to try the pastries but they looked delicious! Oh, and I'm pretty sure they don't upcharge for oat milk! That's a win in my book!!

I felt their selection was more catered towards me than the other KC record shops that I stopped at. Sister Anne's had some really good rare stuff on the wall, but I felt the prices were a tad over FMV......BUT they are rare and would probably fetch a premium since you never see them out in the wild. I didn't make any purchases but it was awesome walking around and checking out their records. I would definitely stop here again if I'm in the area in the future.
