There's so much to say! I wasn't sure what my expectations should be when I started looking for…read moremassage therapy programs in the area, but having recently graduated from the Academy I know I wouldn't have been happier at any other school. I attribute my success here to the small class sizes (there were no more than 10 students in any of my classes), and the sheer devotion of all the instructors I worked with. Everyone who teaches at the academy really loves massage and has valuable experiences and expertise to share with their students, and they're all such genuine people. This is my favorite part--there's no pretense at the Academy. When you ask questions, you get real answers. The school itself is also in a great spot, right off two main highways and within walking distance to several lunch spots (all of which are known to look out for new massage students, especially Grumpy's next door.) And I always felt comfortable inviting friends and family to come in for a massage because the facility here is so professional, with individual rooms for clinic massages rather than curtained areas in a larger, more public atmosphere. Clinics feel like real-world practice from the first day, and this helped instill me with the confidence I sorely needed before breaking out into the massage therapy world. Whether you come to the Academy for an education in massage therapy or a relaxing massage, you'll receive personalized attention from some fun and super down-to-earth people. I've enjoyed my time here so immensely, and truly believe the Academy to be a place of healing, learning, and personal growth. If you're considering a career in massage therapy but aren't sure if it's right or feasible for you, please please give the school a call (610-705-4401) and have a chat with one of the directors. Like in my case, starting a MT program might be easier than you think!

The curriculum is pretty thorough, and while a lot of it was geared towards helping us pass the MBLEX exam the instructors made sure to cover things like fire cupping and Asian massage even though these things do not appear on the exam. The only thing I really disliked was the commute - but to me, it was totally worth it.

Bottom line..., maybe they're not top of the line professional masseuses here yet. But, there's something to be said about a student who is doing everything they can to get better at their craft. I'd take someone not as experienced who genuinely cared about what I needed over a professional masseuse going through the motions every time. Of course, if you don't get that student, I'm sure the experience is different. I was fortunate enough to get a great student. She didn't rush one bit, had excellent technique, and took care of my pains. I left feeling much better than I walked in. In fact, she was so into what she was doing, I believe she gave me extra time. I paid for a 60 minute. I of course was not paying attention to my time (how can you when you're in La La Land). Apparently neither did she as I was on the table for a good 75 minutes, as I checked the time at the end. They didn't charge me more, so it's a score I suppose. I wound up late for my next errand as a result. Somehow, I didn't seem to care.
