While this location is a lot smaller than the downtown New Braunfels one (and mainly kid stuff compared to the NB one), it has SO MUCH! Something for all ages- yes even collectors and adults. The staff is very fun and friendly and even track the countries shoppers come from and how many are left-handed (because why not??). I wouldn't say they are cheap, but they aren't expensive either. Would give it 6 stars if I could! Me and my family have been coming here since I was a kid, and we have always loved it here. Lots of fun stuff for kids ages 0-100! No matter your age or interests you're bound to find something cool here. I'm also very pleased with their customer service: I had a small issue with my purchase (got charged for two stickers instead of one) but the owner helped me out and fixed the problem easily, and was polite and friendly throughout the whole process. I love to support small businesses and this one is a diamond in the rough, so please give it a try if you're wanting to entertain your inner child! Are you kidding me? I can't check-in because my GPS says I'm "too far" from here? I'm standing in the middle of this place talking to one of the employees! Arrgh! Sorry about that folks. It's almost lunch and yours truly is getting cranky for some food and a nap. Another geocaching adventure took me off the main drag in NB and my partner in crime and I inadvertantly found Got Toys. At first my freaky side thought it was an adult store. But then I realized I was wrong. No worries - I still love this place! If you're familiar with Toy Joy in Austin, then you already have an idea of some of the things to expect here. Lunchboxes and coffee mugs adorned with The Avengers, Star Wars, and Superman... magnets that say, "Jesus would slap the sh.t out of you." (of which yours truly did end up buying)... magic kits... stuffed animals/plushies... and everything in between. The prices were very comparable to that of Toy Joy (or Spencers if you're not family with TJ). Parking is cramped but I noticed customers parking at the curbs around this business too. Employees are UBER friendly! If you want to see something in action, just let them know and they're more than happy to demonstrate the items for you. read more

Could be a sister to Mischief Toys in St. Paul. almost the same layout with quaint little hidden nooks and wall to wall smaller spaced aisles. Lots of stuffed animals, games, toys from newborn to adult. I wasn't expecting to find anything, but I found a book. I havent had the time to read or found a book I wanted to read in awhile;until today. I love humorous books and found a great one for the plane ride home. Yes, they have adult themed gifts and items, but my kid wasnt harmed or offended, I just distracted him and he looked at his own age appropriate toys. Lots of variety and the store owner was lovely. We love shops like this run by local businessmen. As retired teachers, we are typically drawn into store like this by the lure of children's books and this store did not disappoint. As is the case more often than not, we found a book - by one of our favorite children's book authors Mo Willems - that will find love and companionship in the home of a grand nephew. The store is small, but well appointed and staffed by a warm and friendly staff. Behind the counter on the wall is a whiteboard with the names of countries from which patrons have visited. I think most of the globe is represented, some with a 2 or 3 after the country name. Again, this a local business. Stop by and spend a few buck on the grand-kids, and support the merchants that do not sell stock. You won't be disappointing. read more

This is a fun place! Packed floor to ceiling with toys and games for all ages! Some I've seen before and some I haven't. It has a nice doctor who and Star Wars collection. They don't allow strollers, but I honestly don't know how you'd fit one in... Minus one star because the girl working was obviously bored and ready to go home. She just sat in the back. read more

It is located in a quaint little 4 room cottage with a little hallway connecting the rooms. When you come through the front door: if you are under age or so young you need someone to read this to you, veer left for goodies for all pretty princesses and rugged young fellows.....if you are "of age," or just need a good giggle, veer right to find an assortment of witty sayings, bacon mints, Jesus toast, coffin purses, lunchtins, and all kinds of things geared towards the older kids. There is also a room full of books for the little ones, which is also the room with candy. Books and candy, who could ask for more? Finally, in the checkout room, you can find an assortment of kits and goodies for making crafts, experimenting, putting things together, etc as well as tin toys & little goodies for decorating your desk or stuffing your stockings. Anytime we've been there, the staff have been super friendly and will demo items for you if you want to see them in action. Definitely a cool place to check out. read more

This is a really fun store in the cute little touristy town of Gruene. It's not just a kids' toy store -- although they do have TONS of unique and high-quality gifts for kids. (Among other finds, my kids got a super cool marble run here, and also some well-made metal kazoos and teeny tiny remote controlled cars that have stood the test of time.) This store has neat brainy geeky gifts for all ages, and is packed with cool retro items and funny little gifts for adults too. It's a lot like Toy Joy in Austin, which we've always enjoyed. This store is a destination in its own right. Expect to spend a bit of time here, as there's so much to see. The staff is happy to demonstrate toys for your kids and help you find what you need. Got Toys sure didn't disappoint! In this small store, there were so many great choices! They had a huge selection of Melissa & Doug toys - our favorite! Gruene, Tx is a quaint, tourist, "town" (not really a town anymore as it's part of New Braunfels) with neat history and excellent shopping opportunities. I recently took a tour group to Gruene and needed to do some Christmas shopping. I saw Got Toys next door to the coffee shop that I went into to get some pre-Christmas shopping caffeine. There's this cute, yellow, historic looking house with a marble contraption on the front porch. Upon entering, I am greeted by 2 very nice, helpful staff members who offered whatever help I needed. It didn't take long for the giddy, child inside of me to surface as I walked through room after room of toys for all ages, giggling to myself. There is literally everything you can think of and many that you'd never think of, in this larger than life toy store. I ended up spending almost $200 and pretty completed my Christmas shopping in 1 stop! From the wooden puzzle that makes animal sounds, the cuddle monkey that plays soft music to put a baby to sleep, to the vinegar and baking soda powered rocket, it was the most fun I've had shopping in quite a while. I only wish that I had had more time because it's not a store that one should be rushed through. read more

This place is the bomb! They have so much good stuff and they've used every available square inch of this adorable cottage to show their wares. Plan to spend a lot of time looking around as there is stuff everywhere. I bought a great metal zombie lunchbox for my son and bacon toothpaste for my daughter (gross right?). We were super excited to take our 3 1/2 year old son to this toy store. We had visions of unique and fun souvineers after our awesome family vacation in Canyon Lake. We were a little surprised to find a cabin full of the same old stuff. Melissa and Doug wooden toys, ant farms, plastic Jesus, batman figurines, tin lunch boxes, puzzles, finger puppets, stuffed animals-- they are all here. But nothing fun and entirely unique. The place is jam packed from floor to ceiling with items, so it's hard (and dumb) to take a small child in there. Cool concept, nice items but nothing different or fun that we needed, so we left empty handed. read more
