Jake from the moment we walked in was the quintessential professional with a warm heart. He didnt push you into anything and you could tell that he was very passionate about his craft and he business. My daughter wasn't even a bit hesitant or scared Jake made it easy for her to focus and learn something new. I even got in on it and before I knew was asking him to custom a bow for me that I purchased on the spot. Everything about my experience from entrance to exit was memorable and I highly recommend it for anyone that is interested in archery at any level or has children that would like to learn from a knowledgeable compassionate instructor. I am not allowed to have a fenced yard in my community. Because of that, all the other shelters I…read morecontacted would not let me adopt a dog. I wanted a dog who weighed 25 pounds or less. They were hard to find and tend to be adopted quickly. Colonial Capital is in my local area and they allowed me a two week trial period. At the end of the 2 weeks, the dog still seemed withdrawn and timid. Because he was already a year old and had been raised with his littermates, I was afraid he wanted a companion but I could not handle multiple dogs. I spoke with Amy at the shelter about returning him. She suggested I give him 2 more weeks. That did the trick. He is now 5 years old and happy being the top (only) dog in the family. Like one other commenter, I am a northerner and over 66, but, unlike her, I was welcomed with open arms. The many dedicated volunteers there had become like a second family. They are great people and this is a great organization.

The first was "Mister", an incredibly sweet, miniature schnauzer with silver hair (just like mine), so we were inseparable for the rest of his years on earth. The next was "Nakey Jake", an amazing, two-year-old, Sphynx! He's my hairless fur baby who is loving, playful, and sassy. He's proud of his uniqueness, and loves to cuddle when I'm home from work. You'll notice that neither of mine had (or have) actual fur. Schnauzers have hair, and Sphynx have no fur. The SPCA staff and volunteers in Lenoir County are simply wonderful!
