This McDonald's location is located in Milano Centrale Station, I ended up stopping off here before…read moreheading to my hotel, arriving in Milan and getting off my coach from the airport in the late evening, I wanted a quick, lazy bite without having to worry too much about finding gluten-free food with a language barrier.
I was able to order my food via the ordering kiosks, as they had an option for multiple languages including Italian and English, so it was relatively straightforward to find and select what I wanted to order.
I ordered the gluten-free burger, strangely this was on the menu but they didn't state what was on the burger, nor could I order any other burger on the menu with a gluten-free bun, I do feel this could be improved, It's great they have gluten-free buns but why is there only one burger available, especially one they fail to describe?
The gluten-free burger turned out to be a cheeseburger, with no sauce/pickles, just plain meat and cheese, they did seem to take cross contamination seriously, as my burger arrived wrapped in plastic packaging, inside a cardboard burger box, but that's the only good thing I have to say about it.
It turns out that they heat up the burger in the bag, so it was pretty disgusting, the bun was fine, but the burger its-self was dry and bland and the meat didn't taste right at all, it tasted like it was microwaved or boiled.
My gluten-eating guest commented her food was fine she ordered a Fillet of Fish.
Be aware that they do charge for sauces here, Ketchup, BBQ sauce and the other usual suspects are 30 cents extra here, which are usually free in the UK.
2* - Obviously there are much better choices than McDonald's, especially in Italy, if you're looking for a quick bite in central station, this place isn't too bad, it looks presentable and has a large seating area and fast service, but disappointing food quality means it's a let down for me.
