His demeanor was dismissive and rude throughout the appointment. I can only hope that with age and maturity, he has become cultured and better able to interact with patients from different countries. Even years later, I still remember that experience every time I schedule a dental appointment. That's why I tell my pre-med students how valuable travel is for their professional development, and how important it is for them to attend cultural events, and read to become better doctors.

I had an infected wisdom tooth and got it out the same day. A couple of days out now, I am healing up better than I have from previous extractions! It is the only emergency dental clinic open on the weekend in Cincinnati - there are only three rooms in this facility, and it's clear everyone is doing their best to move things along quickly. While you wait, Bobby's incredibly kind and gentle demeanor will disarm any frustration or fear you have. Bobby, Ty, Elaya, and Dr. Saleh took the best care of me. I have pretty severe dental anxiety, and yet the team there ensured I did not feel ashamed for my fears. Ty kindly gave me a blanket to calm my tremors, Elaya was the sweetest charismatic dental assistant, and Dr. Saleh was so patient, allowing me to wear headphones during the extraction. When I became extremely anxious about being awake for my extraction, Dr. Saleh offered a referral to a Doctor for sedation and gave me time to consider my options. Bobby then entered the room to compassionately reassure my emotions, and encouraged me to get my pain taken care of as quickly as possible. I never felt pressured; I felt seen and realized I would not find this level of kindness elsewhere. The care and patience these wonderful people took is truly unmatched. Working long shifts with hearts of gold - these are the people you want taking care of you when at your most vulnerable! If you treat them with kindness, you'll be met with loads of it in return.

After my exam I told him clearly what service I wanted (just to have a tooth removed) & he put me in time out & made me wait, while in clearly viable pain, so that I would stop talking & let him continue with his sales pitch. After he wrapped up his sales pitch, I told another staff that he made me uncomfortable & asked if someone else could help me moving forward. I was not rude, or insulting -- I just stated he made me uneasy & I asked to see someone else. Not even 2 minutes later he burst in the room with an attitude telling me he's the office manager & if I didn't like HIS service, I could go somewhere else. Mind you, this was after I paid $200 for their exam fee. Plus, $550 for a tooth extraction (which I had paid for, but was waiting for). I told Bobby I didn't want to leave, I just didn't want to interact with him. Over & over again he tried to get me to leave until I caved & said sorry to him. All I asked was to speak to someone else & to not interact with Bobby, & his reaction is to burst in the room... This was the most disgusting example of unprofessional staff, & a clear example of a company that doesn't have Human Resources. The dentist did his job, but Bobby made me so uncomfortable. I will never forget this HORRIBLE experience. I paid $750 to be mistreated. Watch out for Bobby the front office manager / salesman.

I would give them zero stars if I could…read more I'm a bit shocked to be writing this, but I feel that I should share my personal experience with Clifton Dental Care. Unfortunately, it is not a good one. I totally can empathize that emergencies happen. While they will tell you (and probably respond to this post) that I'm a "monster", it's quite the misunderstanding. In my opinion, if there is a personal emergency it's best to go take care of what you need to do. Context: I first had a scheduled for optional dental work October 16th. I was given proper reminders on October 14th for an upcoming appointment. It was mere hours when I was called to be informed I must be moved as Dr Lowe must provide anesthetic, and she had a personal emergency. Fine. I understand and had no problem. Unfortunately, I had moved all of my meetings / took time off for this planned 2 hour visit and considered it an unfortunate event. My next appointment date was scheduled for Monday, November 4th, three weeks after the originally planned date. I again take another half day off on the 4th. I was given prompt reminders, and a bizarre "warning" text a week out that failure to cancel in a 24 hour period of time would end up in a $100 cancellation. Ironic, but I sent a text back to confirm, ensuring that I would be there for this visit. Less than a business day before on Friday, November 1st in the afternoon, I receive another call from Clifton Dental Care. The receptionist informs me that due to another emergency, I must be moved again up to the 19th of November. Shocked - and time-constrained - I did in fact have more questions asked than answers and expressed concern. Again, I couldn't believe I found myself in another reschedule, another afternoon already approved to take off, zero consultation of a new date. It was as if they assumed that I could simply rebook meetings, work travel, etc. for this optional dental work. I simply stated (and, fairly, firmly) it was unacceptable. Sure, my frustration was noted, and I wanted to get in this same week of the cancellation if possible, or not at all. They left a message an hour later and, miraculously, got me in November 8th. I took a final half day off. November 8th comes - they complete the work, all goes very well. It was cordial, perhaps a little tense... sure, but fine. I paid for the work, and was sent on my way with after care instructions. Today, November 13, I received a MAILED LETTER stating "based on your recent interactions with our office, we think it's the best next step to find a new dental home where you will feel most comfortable, and perhaps you feel that way too." So... I guess my cleaning scheduled for December 12th isn't happening. How unprofessional. If you have a problem or we had a tense moment, state it in person; you were in the same room with me. Or, give me a call to express your feelings. Let me know that you felt offended, and please the provide me with more context so I understand why I was pushed so many times. In fact, maybe I was in the wrong, and I could have apologized. But this passive aggressive approach so unprofessional, especially without any concern for a patient taking a day and a half of PTO and having to cancel, reschedule and adjust meetings myself. Again, I must be clear: I absolutely understand things happen, but this is not how you treat patients, period. A gaslight soliloquy on mailed letterhead does not solve the issue. I've been to many medical professionals and have never been treated this poorly. I'm afraid that I will **never** recommend Clifton Dental Care to anyone. What an unfortunate experience.

I was new to the area and came in for a routine cleaning. During my exam, I noticed I had some sensitivity near my gum line. Dr. Elfers recommended a filling in that area to patch the exposed root, which I was fine with. She said that if I was coming in for one filling, I might as well have a few others done in some deep grooves I had in other teeth as a preventative measure. I was worried about this, as I was unsure if I could afford the cost. Her billing department said they ran my insurance and that my insurance would cover the entire cost of the procedures, and I would only be responsible for paying $25 out of pocket. I trusted her front office staff, and scheduled an appointment the fillings for a few weeks later. Months after my appointment, I am slammed with a dental bill for $380, when I was told it would only cost $25!! I would have never agreed to have all of this work done if I knew it was going to cost that amount! When I called to discuss this with them they said that they can't predict what the insurance will pay and that I would be responsible for the balance. I'm unsure why they initially told me that my insurance would cover the cost except for the $25 copay and they are now telling me they can't predict what the insurance will cover. Something doesn't add up. Her front office admitted to me that someone must have made a mistake when they initially gave me the quote, but are unwilling to own up to their mistake and make the situation right. Moral of the story: get EVERY billing quote in writing BEFORE you have work done with this office, or better yet go elsewhere. I see from previous reviews on Google that I am not the only person who has had an issue like this with this office. With the large amount of dental practices Hyde Park has to offer, I don't understand how they can get away with treating their patients in this way.

At the time of my initial appointment I hadn't been to the dentist in about 10 years (I know, shame on me) so I was a little nervous going on. I had this fear that I'd be shamed or judged and be made to look careless about my oral hygiene. I experienced none of that. My appointment started with an initial consultation with Dr. Gay that included my background, my goals, his goals for me and a general plan of action. It proceeded on to x-rays etc with another discussion about the status of my mouth. From there Dr. Gay laid out my exact issues with both teeth and gums, and the steps we would take, while making sure to treat me without blowing through my insurance limits. He made sure to convey to me the importance of treating the issues with my oral health in a way that wasn't condescending or judgemental. He seems like he truly cares about getting his patients back to great health (he mentions often how he feels bad when people say they hate going to the dentist).
