We tried calling other places, but no one answered their phone. My husband stumbled upon Hometown Garage Doors and they answer their phone till 8pm. We were able to set up an appointment for 8 am the next day. Scott was here promptly at 8am, he had quoted us a price over the phone last night and when he finished a half hour later it was the price he quoted. We decided to replace both springs, not just the one that was broken. I highly recommend this business, I have had 2 garage door springs replaced 10 years ago on the third stall door and paid the same amount as I paid today. It makes me think that I was overcharged 10 years ago, or Scott @ Hometown Garage Doors was very reasonably priced. I am a very happy customer today!

Well, since posting that review, the owner looked into why this happened and then contacted me directly to explain what happened and to apologize to me personally. The issue was in the way the messages were being handled by their office attendant. I have changed my review to five stars because it was clear to me that the owner, Levi, was unaware that an error had occurred, and once he became aware, he researched why it happened and then reached out to me to make it right. We are all imperfect human beings and live in an imperfect world. What matters is whether we have the strength of character to directly address mistakes when then happen and fix them. Levi was very quick to respond, and I had them come out to my house to give me a quote for the job. This is the kind of accountability and integrity that made me decide to give them another shot. I look forward to working with them.

Question their honesty. Didn't follow contract…read more We hired Dakota Fence in 2010 to install a 4-ft tall chain-link fence. We paid for them to do a land survey at that time. We hired them now (2026) to demolish the chain-link fence and install a 6-ft tall vinyl panel fence because my daughter, who has autism, elopes. We did not pay for a new land survey since the new fence was supposed to go in the same place as the old fence. Anyways, we paid to have the entire chain-link fence demolished including the 2 posts where our neighbors had connected to our fence. We paid for 2 new posts to be put in our neighbors' yards and their fences connected to the new posts. Anyways, they failed to remove the 2 posts to which our neighbors had connected their fences. As a result, our new posts are not on our property line. They offered to reimburse us for the cost of the 2 new posts for the neighbors ($168?). They are now saying one of the posts they failed to remove is actually on my neighbor's property. This would mean the land survey Dakota Fence did in 2010 was wrong and that they put our old fence in the wrong place! I believe the whole new fence on the east side of my property is several inches more than necessary from the property line. It would fit entirely within the old chain-link fence. Some of the employees said the new fence posts are 2 to 4 inches further from the property line than necessary. Now Dakota Fence is saying the old chain link fence was actually on my neighbor's property. Again, Dakota Fence surveyed the land in 2010 before putting up the chain-link fence. After I brought up my concern about the fence not being as close to the property line as desired, they attempted to find my land boundaries by locating the pins buried in the yard. They dug them up and found they were laying on their sides. Thus, they said they were not accurate. However, they are using the pins to say the old fence was not in the right place! They keep telling me different things and I do not trust them.

Now onto the the actual work. I contacted them months ago for some estimates and Jim/Virgil was great to work with. He came out as requested and gave fair estimates for both drywall work, replacement stairs, and ceiling work. He even came out a second time to give an estimate for some replacement siding. The drywall crew consisted of two guys who spent a few days working on a small section in the basement, they made sure to make things look their best and did a decent job cleaning up each night. They were polite and always listening to my feedback. 5 stars there. The siding guy came out and replacement some cedar shakes on the side of the house that were missing from an old deck removal. He did a great job and cleaned up the worksite very nice. I was impressed with the speed. Again 5 stars. Jim himself came out for the ceiling work, he did a great job hooking up the electric and making sure the panels lined up to the existing grid. Again 5 stars. My only gripe was the billing, Their online system worked, but I think some deposits I made were just lost. Regardless they eventually took care of it... so updating my review to reflect this. Thank you, I for sure recommend them for contracting work, just double check the bills before paying. =)
