When I was planning my vacation to Lake George Goony Golf was one of the mini golf courses I was looking forward to most, it did not disappoint. Goony Golf is great, it reminds me of the old school kitschy mini golf that my grandfather use to take me to when I was younger. Goony Golf is 18 holes of big vibrant mini golf holes, windmill, giant dino, giant snake, and a bunch of other holes that kids will love. Every hole is fun and interesting , and they are all different form each other. They also have a very small arcade that you are better off avoiding and a rather large gift shop here. My biggest complaint is while all the holes look fun they don't play fun. A course like this thrives on risk vs reward and there is no reward for many of the holes. Even if you make the harder shot very often you end up in the same place as someone that took the easy shot. Overall a very good and fun place to play mini golf, worth visiting just to see the holes.

Can't say enough about this place. It has tons of holes with animation. Facility is kept well and it's relatively cheaper than the other courses nearby. Had a wonderful time and there is a small arcade attached. Would definitely try this place first if your in the area and want to play some mini-golf. A bonus tip: Free golf game chance as the 19th hole!

We are a mini-golf family, and we loved Goony Golf. It's goofy, weird, maybe a bit creepy in a scary-clown kinda way, everything you could hope for in a vacation destination mini-golf place. We got there early, after breakfast, maybe about 10 am, and it was not crowded as we played, but there were a good number of people when we left, so get there early during peak vacay times? Since there weren't a lot of people, I can't comment on social distancing. It's outside, so ... I also don't know if the clubs were being sanitized after use. The course is kept up pretty well, so I don't think they're slacking. Some say the holes are challenging, I don't know about that. Maybe for very little kids. My kids are 7 and 9 and had no problems (no aces, but no problems). Everything around the course looks old but taken care of - freshly painted, not a single piece of trash on the course. Clean water features, too - so many mini-golf places let their fountains get mucky. I would def come back to Goony Golf, if only to go to Gift World next door. I'd be curious to see how worldly the gifts are

This is my favorite mini golf course EVER! So colorful and fun! It has a vintage feel. My boyfriend and I are avid mini golfers we tried every single mini golf course in lake George and this is our new all time favorite! If you're not super awesome at mini golf like my boyfriend and I this course may be a bit challenging for you. The guy at the counter seemed like he hated his life but it's okay I hope he's doing well. BEST MINI GOLF EVER

An annual event everytime I go to camp in Lake George. Fun family atmosphere and always kept up. Highly recommend for small and large groups, especially families.

Yes, I gave miniature golf 5 stars...because Goony Golf is as good as it gets as far as mini golf is concerned! Located near the heart of downtown Lake George on the corner of 9N, lies this old school mini golf throw back. Goony Golf hasn't changed since I was a kid...I've been summering in Lake George for 30 years. Can't help but have a smile on your face spending the afternoon here!

Great mini gold course....SOO many in the Lake George Area...we walked there from the Downtown Super 8 on Canada Street. Open until 11pm...they also have a mini arcade.... $7.50 adult & $7.00 kids...very colorful character & some are based on Nursery rhymes & other fictional characters/stories

An (outdated) overview of the course.

Sir Goony's Golf in Lake George has definitely seen some better days. Like most of the olde time attractions in the area this place wreaks of what-was and not what-is-now (not that it was awe-inspiring from the get-go, this is mini-golf we're talking about). My girlfriend and I went during the off-season, just before Memorial Day, so the Arcade & Haunted Cavern were not up & running, so mini-golf and the gift shop it was. As a big fan of this kind of "art", I'd been eyeing this place for my first venture into mini-golf. There's just something haunting about tarnished, worn-out, concrete-over-chicken-wire statues older than myself, what can I say. They give me that vibe of permanently having the mindset of the denizens from Rudolph's Land of Misfit Toys, but oh, nevermind. ; ) There's the creepy were-bear eating ice cream on top of a bear cave (missing the cone, I guess, from his left hand that he'll lick for all of eternity) who is randomly placed with elves, the poorly-shaped Jungle Book critters (that I would imagine are a bit "newer" compared to some of the rest) standing alongside a giant elephant's head spring, the cowboys inside the Old West building (one with a very poorly-formed forearm... or is it just a badly-broken wrist that is the problem?), the very random--and I mean VERY random--She-Ra-style armored pegasus mounted partially in the woods (who also has a doll at the gift shop), and the pièce de résistance that greets visitors from behind the frontgate: a 3-foot tall mother goose, riding--and choking--a giant swan/goose-bird... thing! Gooney Golf attractions are known for their bit of the avant garde of deranged, cartoonish style mash-ups, but to see them get weather-worn and generally misused over the years and not get their much-needed TLC (duct tape for pupils on a giant snake where tiny lights used to be, for another example), it really adds something a little scuzzy, and a little creepy to the visit--which is generally right-up my alley. As far as playing the holes go, we scoffed at the suggested par for some of the holes. With the equally-unrepaired greens, you'd need to really be a crackshot with your scuffed-up putter to even come close. Expect gouges and chunks missing from your green, as well as random sinkholes and general putting-dismay from the site's overall disrepair. The gift shop, aka "Gift World", is full of touristy junk--and well, maybe "full" isn't quite an accurate description either. All the usuals are there: the faux-pewter picture frames, keychains of multiple varieties, and random pirate or beach objects, all touting how you had gone to "LAKE GEORGE, NY" at one point. On the fun-side however, it seems that the suppliers that once filled the gift shops of The Great Escape before the big corporate takeover of my childhood, are still supplying Goony Golf's gift shops (see: the picture where I'm holding a non-Native American-made tomahawk, not pictured: the tom-tom drum, the spear, or the pencils located at the register that are half-filled with tiny gemstones--seriously I was saddened when I went to Six Flags Great Escape for the first time in 15 years and this kind of stock merchandise was replaced with stock merchandise of the Loony Toons & DC comics persuasion). Looking over the website's photo gallery, with all of their bright colors and minor statues that don't even exist anymore, now that we've been there, it's easy to imagine that those shots are at least 15-20 years old (making those kids closer to 30 now--and consequentially, my age) and that very little has been done with the upkeep since then. All-in-all, don't get me wrong, it's still a fun time (as long as you catch a lull in the crowds) for under $10-per, but the laughs might be aimed more *at* Goony these days, than with Goony. 4 Stars for the experience, but 3 stars for the quality.

The greens are kept in perfect shape with no ruffled turf, loose bricks, piles of leaves, etc. The (very blue) waterfall was working and added ambiance. Scattered throughout the course are interesting pirate vignettes and facts, and the caves and bridges added to the experience. The course itself is a bit different from most others. Many courses add artificial challenges (sand bunkers, gravel areas, missing sidewalls near water, windmills, etc.) to make it difficult. Here, every hole is straightforward. And most of them are short. Therefore, it is best to approach it as each hole could (should?) be doable as a hole-in-one. And I got two, my friend got another two, and everyone around us was getting them. Does that mean the course is too easy? No, not at all. But, it isn't a course where you should be taking more than 2-3 putts to get it in the cup. There are no dogleg holes, etc. which add length. Some of the holes have fun twists. I won't give away the surprises, but there were several areas that led to good (and bad!) unexpected results. Play it out and you will see what I mean. The staff were friendly, and they had at least six different sized putters making it possible to get the perfect fit. The prices ($13) were certainly reasonable and comparable to other courses. It was packed on Saturday on a holiday weekend, but because the holes are so short everything kept on flowing nicely. Overall, a wonderful course.

There are 2 Pirates cove locations in the greater lake George region, this one has 2 18 hole courses, the other only has one course. Pirates Cove has 2 18 hole park style course, think bigger greens with more elevation changes than obstacles to avoid, so it is slightly different than the other courses in the area. The course here are well themed, well landscaped, and in great condition. All of the courses make use of elevation changes, the water features and even the existing trees at this location. Because of these trees there is plenty of shade even on sunny days. They even have a hole on a big pirate ship. The only down side to this location is some of the holes are repeated at many mini golf courses. You will definitely have already played some of the holes you will play here. So it is not as unique as some of the other area courses. Overall of the 2 Pirates Cove locations in the area this would be my recommendation of the location to play, I think that the course at the other one is better, but because this spot has 2 I would rather play here. Either way you can not go wrong.

Many of the attractions were not open (bumper cars, indoor go-karts, kids inflatable play area), and those that were tended to be underwhelming. The go-karts were fun, and the rides were generously long, but that may have had to do with the lack of crowd size despite the beautiful weather. The go-karts themselves were wildly different in top speeds, and your success on the track was based entirely on the kart you were assigned vs. any actual ability or strategy. No big deal for us, but there was, shall we say, a slightly more competitive family who were extremely annoyed by this, and were letting everyone in earshot know about it. Most of the arcade games were older and not in the greatest condition, with a few exceptions. What was oddest of all was that I found a roll of 5,000 prize tickets just sitting on top of a closed air hockey table completely unattended. I brought them back to an employee at the concession stand and there wasn't even a thank you offered. If it happens again, maybe I'll just the 5' Angry Bird. They also wouldn't honor the Yelp Check-in offer for a free game of Laser Tag. All in all, this place has seen some better days, and both boys enjoyed playing mini-golf at the place across the parking lot far more than they did playing at Adventure Family Fun Center, but you could certainly do worse if you're looking to kill a few hours with the kids.

We have been coming every winter for the past six years and have made some terrific memories here…read more There is so much I genuinely like about this place. The location is convenient and feels like part of our ritual now. The staff are almost uniformly kind and welcoming to our kids and us. They remember us, greet us cheerfully and make this feel like a home base. The outdoor hot tub was a particularly welcome amenity on this past brutally cold weekend and it helped us warm up a chill that seemed to go straight to our bones after time outside on the lake. It really is one of those few places that feels like a welcome retreat no matter the weather. If there weren't any flaws, this would be a much easier review to write. But there are flaws, and they are things that should have been tended to long ago. The rooms have definitely seen better days. Many of our dresser drawers barely opened. The refrigerator was hardly cool. Furniture had visible damage and some of the electrical outlets were non-functional or battered to the points that plugs fell right out f them. These are not deal breaking in isolation but taken together they left us feeling that the room was tired and poorly maintained. A little thoughtful maintenance or investment here could go a long way and make the rooms feel a lot more comfortable. Another disappointment this year was the breakfast buffet at TRs Restaurant. In years past it was a highlight and something our kids looked forward to to prepare for a cold morning out. This visit, the quality seemed to have declined and the selection felt smaller. The restaurant itself still has a lovely lake view and a cozy fireplace, and the service was still friendly and attentive, but the breakfast spread did not live up to our memories. So I find myself landing on a three star rating. If you take this place for what it can still be, it is a wonderful family resort with great staff and some truly nice amenities. But right now the condition of the rooms and some of the public areas combined with the breakfast experience hold it back from being the much stronger destination I know it can be. Here is hoping that ownership puts some money back into the property so it can recapture its full potential.
