I have had decent service with this Goodyear within the past couple of years. I first started using them when I was renting a car to drive with Lyft, and they told you to come to Goodyear for required service and maintenance. I have brought my personal vehicle here for service, new tires in August 2022 and an oil change with decent results. Fast forward to November 2022. I bring my personal vehicle here after getting a flat tire right before thanksgiving. After looking at my car and my tire, they have a list of things I need besides two tires (one is under a free repair/replacement plan that they say they can't replace) that run me close to $2,000. I told them I could not afford it and left. I know that many auto shops take women for a ride with their car, but I might go elsewhere for this type of repair. read more

Do not get your car repaired at Goodyear Auto Service on Monroe in Dearborn. They do not guarantee their work. My engine did not feel right the night I picked it up. I called Nate. He told me to bring it back in if the engine is acting up. It had to be towed back! Now it needs a new engine. Every time I had an issue with their service Nate would say he'll get back with me... each time there was a death in his family. He never got back with me. I took my car here to get my tire patched after I noticed a nail in my tire. My fiancé called ahead to ask how much it would cost. They told him it was free. When I arrived they told me I would have to buy a new tire because of the location of the puncture. I decided to go somewhere else. I went to Campus Auto Repair just a couple blocks away. They told me a plug would be $15. When they removed the "nail" it turned out to be a small screw and didn't even charge me. If you are looking for auto repair then go to Campus Auto Repair! Had two flat tires due to Michigan roads and had my car taken here as it was the closest to where ow truck could take me. Thought I only needed 1 new tire and the other resealed. Tow truck guy tried to do it but didn't work. Was holding air though. Goodyear told me I needed two new tires and I tried to push back and say it was only 1. They said well it needs two and you can get them or if you think we are wrong take them somewhere else. I reluctantly got the two new tires. Yesterday one of the tires they put on was going flat. Had a small hole in it so I called this am and they said it would be free to repair. I took it in and left it. This afternoon Skip calls and tells me not only can they not patch the whole but that it also had a tack in the tire (I looked for a nail or something and didn't see a thing before taking it.) I pushed back and Skip again told me if I didn't like it he would put the old one on and I could go somewhere else. I got a little frustrated and snapped back and said that this is what they do, they tell people what is wrong to get a deal done and then become condescending when push back happens. At this point Skip absolutely went off on me. It was crazy, I never experienced an employee of someplace so that before. I am getting the new tire and will be reporting to corporate Goodyear and then never going there again. read more

I will say that they did the repairs I asked for. Not in a timely manner, but they were done and the car worked. But then they tried to tell me I needed an expensive repair that I absolutely did not need as confirmed by the dealership. Apparently, I'm not as dumb as I look. I brought my truck in on a Saturday morning to get an oil change and get a new fuse for part of my dashboard. The part by the driver's side window no longer lights up and the fuel gauge is stuck on F, which means I have to use the trip odometer and guesstimate. Googling this told me it was likely just a fuse that needed changing. The schlub at Goodyear told me it could be a whole problem with my electrical system and wanted to give my vehicle a full diagnostic test. Said it would be $125 and would tell me whatever was wrong with my vehicle. Well, the old Explorer has a lot of miles and it gets this vibration when I brake with any force, not so bad that I can't drive, but hey, maybe I should see what is. $125 sounded steep for an estimate, but I was there anyway, maybe I should make sure the ride isn't dangerous. I didn't say anything to the guy about the vibration, though. I could see the rip-off wheels turning in his head, and didn't want to tip my hand. The test took longer than he said it would. I sat in Goodyear's depressing little waiting area. Fake wood panelling, outdated furniture, an older tv showing lousy programming, institutional coffee maker. It looked like it had scarcely changed a bit since the late 70s had puked it back up. No, I take that back - there were magazines between a year and 5 years old. I could get caught up on what was happenening in the NBA 2 years ago or flip through an aggressively mindless womens magazine. Great. So I ran down the battery on my phone to pass the time. Something about the guys at this place - they just exude that greasy, rip-off vibe. There was one front of the house guy who was older and really fat who I saw talking to a female college student who obviously didn't know shit about cars, saying she needed all this work done, and I could just tell he was screwing her. I have no physical evidence of this, but I could just tell. Something about the smug way he was eating a donut later. Finally I get called out of the waiting area time forgot to the front desk. And boy, is my 3 page diagnostic report a doozy! $1147.62 worth of repairs. $579.85 just to replace HOSES! Hoses are cheap! The one I fixed with duct tape works just fine because the truck doesn't overheat anymore. And nothing on there looked remotely close to something that would cause a vibration when I brake. You ever see the Aqua Teen where Meatwad gets Carl's car from the kidney foundation, and he gets an estimate of $32,000 in repairs 2 Wicked needs cause the hobbit that turns the crankcase is depressed, the radiator needs a unicorn, the haunted air conditioner that's gonna involve Superman who has be shipped in from Krypton and the cow jumped over the moon? That's what this thing reminded me of. (And yes, I did take the time to break the whole thing down for you. I take my Aqua Teen Hunger Force seriously, thank you very much.) The only reasonable thing I saw was my truck needs an allignment. I already kind of knew that and just correct for how it likes to lazily veer to one side. All I told the guy was "Well, I can't afford any of that today. Just the oil change." And that's all I was charged for. Just $30. I don't know if they just forgot to charge me for the diagnostic test, or if you don't have to pay if you refuse to have any of the repairs, but this is the only reason I don't feel resentful about my whole experience there. When I got back in my truck I saw the dashlight was still out by the gas gauge. The report said nothing about that, nor was it mentioned to me, despite my having it brought up was what launched the whole diagnostic toilet paper I was handed. I was glad to be having to guesstimate my gas. I'll take incompetence over being ripped off. Goodyear will never see that $1117 or me again. read more

I asked them to take a look at the bottom of my car and strip the plastic off (the plastic on the bottom of my car was hanging and scraping the ground sometimes). Wish I read the reviews before I got new tires here. Unfriendly. No interest in customer service. Failed to recognize problem with my valve stems on two tires (despite multiple visits). Lost all faith in their ability to do the simple thing of putting new tires on my car and took it to my dealership for them to fix it (at significant additional cost). :-( read more

I was excited to try their free 29 pt inspection with oil change and tire rotation. First made an appointment online at 3pm on my day off, was told it would take around 3 hours online. Around 2:55 I get a call from the manager saying they wouldn't be able to honor the appointment because they were backed up. Which is fine, it happens. Made another appointment for 9AM another day, again was quoted 3 hours and I didn't have to be at work for 4.5 hrs so I thought it would be fine and checked off the option that I would stay and wait for the car. Get to the appointment and was told they were backed up and I'd have to leave my car for the day. They couldn't guarantee it within 4.5 hrs. I asked if I could just get the oil replaced and the belt looked at and was told no even then. They need to set more realistic expectations with the website scheduling, and stop wasting our time. It's already difficult enough with a crazy work schedule to find somewhere to take your car without having to go back and forth like this. read more

I've had numerous vehicles serviced at this GoodYear location for the past 15 years and have always been taken care of by Skip and recently Lance. Dealership quality service with GoodYear reliability & less pricey than dealers. The GoodYear review inspection also highlights other issues and provides estimates for budgeting purposes. Decent customer lounge with complimentary coffee/water (currently being renovated) and WiFi. Mechanic Aaron also tightens up loose bolts, fittings and provides additional guidance on specific future work which is much appreciated. Hours of operation are very convenient especially for an automotive service center in the city of Detroit. You can get auto work done for less elsewhere but not sure the warranty would stand up to what Good Year provides. read more

First off, let me say that Skip, the guy who runs the joint, is a good guy. I've done business with them in the past and it seems like he's always treated me pretty fairly. However, the last two times I went there I've had really bad experiences. I wouldn't have even written a review had yesterday not happened, but I don't want anyone to be put in the same situation as me. A few months back I had a flat tire. Well I took it to them to assess the damage and see if they could possibly just patch the tire and I'd be on my way. I get a call from the kid who runs the front desk saying "sorry, the hole is too big, you need a new tire". So I told them to throw the spare back on because I wanted a second opinion. Lucky I did because when I took it to another shop, the guy looked at it and told me he could patch it with no issues whatsoever. $10 out the door. Fast forward to yesterday. I needed my trans flushed so I figured I'd give them another shot. Huge mistake! Talked to a grumpy guy at the front desk on my way into work who told me if I dropped my car off at 9 I'd have it back around noon. So I did just that. 1 pm rolls around and I call to see how my car is coming along, grumpy guy tells me "they're working on it, we'll give ya a shout when it's done". 3 pm rolls around, still no call so I decide to go up there because I had an appt I needed to be at that afternoon. Well, my car wasn't even on the lift yet. So I ask how long and the guy at the desk tells me 45 minutes, he's "fighting with the lines". That's a comforting thing to hear regarding the most expensive thing on your car!! Kinda like hearing the cardiologist performing your father's heart surgery say he's "fighting with your left ventricle". Oh, good, fight away! So 4 pm rolls around and I again ask what's going on and apparently the machine that flushes the fluid wasn't cooperating so they told me they couldn't do it. So after 8 hours of my car being there, the work wasn't even done. Extremely disappointing. I ended up taking my car to a shop by my house, again, and they had it done in an hour and a half. So I got my car back this morning. As I said, skip is a really good guy. He was apologetic and tried to make it worth my time. My complaint IS NOT with him. I felt bad for him because you could tell he felt terrible and was embarrassed by the whole situation. I'll give them two stars just because he's pleasant to deal with. It's with the other guys who work there. I have been completely scared off and this place will be my last resort. Sorry, hate to be a jerk. Hate to badmouth anyone, but come on. read more

I've had winter summer swap at the store. Sure nothing could seriously go wrong when all you do is taking off the wheels and put another set of wheels on, but still there were a few issues. 1. they lost one of the valve caps, and didn't put one in. I had to go in and ask for one. 2. one of the tires was flat. I figured they'll see that when they install and add air in. They did and it looked good, until I checked with tire gauge: 20psi (it should be 35 psi). They just pumped some air until it looks like it's inflated and said ok good enough! ugghh 3. One of the lug nuts must have fallen out of bag when switching wheels. You'd think a place like that would have the most standard thing on a car, but nope. So what did they do? Just have one less lug nut and not tell me about it. It's winter time so morning and after work it's dark so I couldn't see the missing lug nut. After two weeks I went to the car during the day and saw it. I went back and they looked around the shop and couldn't find one and I ended up driving to autozone to buy one and have them put it on. It's good thing I don't have wheel cover for my winter tires, otherwise I would've never found out! I wouldn't use these guys for any major jobs. Only things like tire swap where I can check if anything is missing. read more

I went to receive a service for one tire. I was told the job is a 10 minute service. The employee told me they close in 15minutes. My service needed for my tire can't be done today. Due to closing in 15minutes. No apology, so what did they expect to sit there and not service anyone till closed? Also no other customer were there. It was empty!
