Mark Hewitt has made it his pluriennal mission in life to gain both trust and respect of the homeless in the Abilene/Midland area. His Ministries have started with a crazy idea of helping the homeless with free food/clothing/health care/job hunting/moral and spiritual support. And it is now one of the most flourishing ministries in the area. Completely run on a voluntary basis, it offers 1 comforting and flavourful meal per day to those in need. It allows 15 minutes per week into their free thrift store, filled to capacity with great clothes and shoes for all shapes/sizes/ages and sex. It allows those who are not covered by a health insurance to access prime care for free, be it a dental need, a routine Dr. appointment, a mammography, an optometrist check-up... All funded by the good heart of the common citizen and his/her need to do as the Lord say "help those in need, for they shall help you gain the greatest richness upon earth". I only wish there were more ministries as loving and caring as this and less elitarian ones across the globe.

The man that came out got onto us telling us there were signs we should have followed. It was honestly a mistake because I wasn't familiar with the roads there. I did not feel very welcomed to be there at all after that. I honestly didn't mind moving my car but the tone and attitude felt like I was being reprimanded for a simple mistake.

So I tried this venue, and my son loves it! They pick him up in a clean, well cared for van, and he goes to Highland Church of Christ every day after school. They engage the children in games, outside time, and my son even gets his homework done there. He has a lot of allergies, and I have been so happy with how attentive all the counselors are there. This place lets kids just be kids, and it's mind numbingly awesome! The only suggestion I would have would be to provide maybe a summer camp and a camp during the holidays. Other than that... this place rocks. Ten fingers and ten toes WAAAYYYY up. You NEED to bring your kid to this place.

My sewage line wasn't draining properly so I got bid from them. They used a camera (sophisticated) to explore the sewage line, which was about 60 ft from the fence line/alley. Guy said that it was old clay pipe that needed to be replaced for $7000. And they would have to replace it all the way to the city main, which would make Abilene the only city that allows anyone to work on their city mains. So just to check on what the city had which I figured was upgraded to pvc (it was) I dug down to the sewer line at the edge of the property. So I started digging down to the sewer line a couple of other places just to verify what the plumber claimed. It ended up only being clay about 10 ft on my property from the city's line. So if the guy had been honest and not tried to grossly exaggerated or pad the estimate he would have said replace the 10 feet of clay because he couldn't have missed it with the camera that he ran from the trap next to my house down toward the fence line. This is probably a common way that unscrupulous plumbers line their pockets. It took a day to dig up that 10 ft of clay and replace w pvc. Cost $89 for supplies. What a profit margin. The sad thing or maybe part of the scam was the fish (Christian) symbol on his truck.

I guess I'm the odd man out. My experience with this company was not positive. I will say the…read moreperson who took my call and booked my appointment was friendly. I had a carpenter ant problem, and the first tech was great although he showed up pretty early. He was a very friendly and professional former member of the military. He seemed knowledgeable and told me to give the chemicals time to work but to call back if I still had ants. The price I was charged was somewhat higher than I was quoted but I was told they guarantee their work and would come back as many times as it took to take care of the problem. A few weeks go by and I call to let them know I still have the ants- they never left although I did find some dead ones for a few days. I was to,d they would come back to treat again. They called to cancel the initial appointment as my tech had a death in the family. I expressed sympathy and told them no problem. I rescheduled and then they called on the new day to change the time. I agreed to work with them and they sent a different tech out. He was courteous and went quickly about his work. Told me to give things time to take effect but let them know if I still have ants. A few weeks go by and I call to report that the ants are still not gone. I was told I would be charged again in full because my "warranty" had run out. I tried to explain that they never got rid of the ants but was told there was no way around having to pay another couple hundred bucks. My understanding of warranties is that you buy something and the warranty guarantees it for a set amount of time. I was under the impression that they would get rid of the ants and guarantee me they would stay gone for 3 months or whatever. I didn't get what I paid for to begin with so not comprehending why my warranty would be out. I'm thankful Lawrence Hall didn't declare the warranty on my truck expired before I got the truck! Two stars because they were courteous but I didn't get what I paid for and will now need to find a pest control company that can actually get rid of carpenter ants.
