I had a very unpleasant experience dropping donations at the Vienna (WV) store today. I went to the back of the store carrying 2 big plastic bags full of clothing inside Aldi shopping bags. After dropping them in the donation box I put one shopping bag inside the other and left when an older man with broken teeth came out of the store. He told me to hand him my donations so that he could take them inside. I answered that I had already dropped the donations in the box. He insisted again and grabbed the handles of my shopping bag. Thinking that he was slow but trying to help I explained that those were my bags and that the donations were in the box. He kept playing dumb and I finally realized that he assumed I was a thief trying to walk off with items from the box. Fortunately, a female employee had seen me dropping my stuff. She called out and told the man to let me go because I was legit. He apologized but didn't look sorry for the way he treated me. I suspect he targeted me because I'm not Caucasian. That's the last time I donate anything to that store. read more
