My wife and I are downsizing and relocating out of town. We had a 10 foot Uhaul truck loaded with boxes and plastic bins of items that we did not want to take with us to our new location so we brought them to the Goodwill store located on 9305 N Green Bay Rd, Brown Deer, WI 53209. When we arrived, no one came out to assist us with our donation. However, when another vehicle drove up behind us, a young man came out and assisted them with their one box, and immediately went back inside, ignoring us. Soon another driver came up, and again the same man came out and assisted them with their small donation. I asked the young man why he would not assist my wife and I and he stated that he was by himself and walked back inside. My wife and I unloaded 8 of their blue rolling bins off our truck with no assistance from anyone at the store. After we finished I went to the front to ask to speak with a manager. I explained the problem to her, and then she went to the back and then another woman came out stating that she too was a manager, and again I explained the situation, and she, like the first young lady, apologized, but she then asked if I wanted to speak to the store manager. By then I was even more upset because when I first came into the store I asked to speak to the store manager, but it appeared that I was shuffled through two other people before I could get to the manager. A third person appeared and introduced herself as Kelly, the sore manager, but I have no faith that anyone I spoke to was an actual manager at this point.
I attempted to file a complaint on the Goodwill website, but apparently they won't allow that because it will not look good for their donors to see complaints of poor customer service.
My wife and I have donated to Goodwill for many years. But after today, we will never donate to them again. I know that they don't care about an individual donor stopping recurring donations to them, but for us, we can find another organization to donate to that will better appreciate us and our "meager" donations. I don't know if this will get to Goodwill, but I hope so. read more
