I will say the jeans are a lot more expensive than other thrift stores. There were a lot of pants I was looking forward to get from my teenagers and I just couldn't because they were all $15-$20 per pair of pants. Maybe it will go down or because of all the discounts it's better to buy when you layer discounts with your purchase. Everything was clean and organized and they had options galore! Definitely worth a visit. A lot of items in the store seemed like it was lightly used or brand new.

Going and supporting the Salvation Army really feels good. You're able to find awesome pieces that may not have worked for someone else, but are exactly what you're looking for! I think that this particular thrift store has a very nice selection. I was trying to find books that were yellow to decorate a built in bookcase. Going to Barnes and Noble or another bookseller to purchase brand new books would have really broke the bank! We were able to find four yellow books and paid a fraction of what new books would have cost us!

The pudgy red head manager approached me last week while I was in the store and told me to hand my…read morebag over to the cashier. Why I would trust a cashier with my phone, car keys, wallet, meds, makeup bag, brush, and the medical tank I carry when he can't trust me with my bag? So when I told him no, that I wouldn't be handing over my bag, he became angry and said the cashier would be looking inside as I checked out. Fine. Whatever. He then loudly told me that the last time I was in the store he had observed me stuffing my bag and escorted me out to my car and told me never to return. That never happened. When I told him 'that never happened' I could see he realized his mistake but he didn't apologize. No, he was too angry, belligerent, and self-righteous. Which made him more angry. He shouted at me he was calling the police. Fine, call them. I think the look of complete bafflement on my face and my lack of being intimidated by him truly unsettled him. He was to the point of sputtering. Men don't like it when women don't heel. I left. I thought about waiting for the cops to arrive but suspected his call was fake. I also thought about suing S.A. Had he detained me I would have sued. And, he's REALLY fortunate that there wasn't anyone in the store that I knew. Embarrassment is liable. Had he really 'escorted me to my car' I would have sued. He's a nut that doesn't belong in management. He followed me out to the parking lot and shouted at me he had taken photos of me and my car plate. The entire time I was telling him he was wrong but he wouldn't listen. He only wanted to dominate. S.A. has made the historic mistake of promoting men from their rehab program into store management positions. I come from a professional corporate management background. All of our training was at the results of lawsuits: How to be public facing, how to manage without causing emotional distress (like shouting at me in the store and on the parking lot) how to equitably manage staff and treat all visitors. A manager's conduct must never go beyond all possible bounds of decency. A manager knows how to lead and by example of their behavior. Good riddance S.A. and best wishes for a management overhaul. Try promoting some WOMEN and cease your sexist organizational approach. I do acknowledge your work within the community: I used to work with women/children in crisis in the 80s and S.A. always offered shelter even at capacity. I have always work/volunteered with those in need. I was shopping in this store heavily in 2026 buying items and clothing for the tornado victims, taking it all home and washing it before driving it to north city. Not only clothing but candles for those who had lost power. It was a great resource for me and continued to be until recently. The store was convenient since it as close to my weekly doc appts at BJC but I will SHOP elsewhere.

They keep most of their furniture outside because the store is rather small. So at any time of day, you can drive by really slow and see what they have sitting outside. I usually see a few couches, tables, chairs, bed frames... and since I'm always looking for wooden furniture to refinish- it's a gold mine! As for the clothing selection, it seems like an average thrift store type of selection. And the parking lot can be rather challenging. It's small, gravel, and on Saturdays can get tricky to park in it. But as I said - gold mine for fresh selections of furniture every few days and fun knick knacks. Plus the proceeds go to support Camp Wartburg (an awesome Christian Camp for kiddos). I love bringing my donations here too.

We have a business with a similar model where I'm from and I actually like it a lot. Why hate on this place? Several reasons. 1. No clearance. At all. My hometown resale store has a dollar rack and a big section with markdowns so I find something at a reasonable price pretty much every time I go. 2. Rude employees. I get tired of stick-thin wannabe models in clothes four sizes too big for me giving me dirty looks when I walk in to one of these "curated" stores in The Loop. 3. Bad organization. You can barely move around in here and forget pulling stuff off the racks! It's not worth the frustration of trying to dig through these tightly-packed racks like a dog burying a bone. They had a bunch of AliExpress junk cluttering up the jewelry and accessories. What a bore. It also wasn't very clean!

I think I found my new clothing crush! Borough Vintage opened up last November on Cherokee Street…read moreand I've been wanting to shop here for awhile, especially after a camo jacket and ballet skirt combo went up in the window a few weeks ago :) Last Saturday, I stopped by with some yelpers to check out the shop. And I totally disagree with the last review in terms of pricing and overall service. Dawna, the shop owner, is super nice and helpful. And the clothes weren't unreasonable IMO. Because she spends a little extra time making sure items are clean and well-organized, the prices might be a tad higher. But nothing too ridiculous... I spent $38 on a pretty blue dress that I'm pretty sure would cost the same at another vintage store. And it didn't stink or have strange stains on it! As for negotiating, call me a sucker, but I don't think it's terribly fair to walk into a relatively new shop and start haggling on prices, especially if the clothes are well-displayed. Obviously the person in charge took some time and energy to put it all together, which is part of what you pay for in any retail environment. Regardless, I love my new blue dress. And since it's vintage, I can wear it to the April Elite event (it may be blue, but wearing something used is definitely "green"). I'll be back to Borough for sure!

I do a lot of vintage shopping - at brick-and-mortar stores and on Etsy and Ebay. And the bottom…read moreline is that this place is insultingly overpriced by any standard. A card of buttons that would cost $1 or less at Ruth's is $5 here. Your standard 60s printed shirtdress that would sell for $15 at Avalon Exchange and $35 at Timeless Authentic Garments (TAG) sells for $68 here. And at least at TAG, the staff is willing to cut you a modest break if you're buying multiple items. When I asked for a nominal $5-$10 off a purchase of three heavily overpriced items (I wanted to support the store and liked the stuff), the proprietress looked at me like I was crazy. I ended up leaving with the single cheapest item when she could have made a much larger sale, and at no meaningful loss. While I was in there, multiple customers wanted to buy off a rack of items awaiting tags. I tried a dress on and was practically begging to shell out for it, but she hemmed and hawed and finally said she'd need several days to price such an item. I'm sorry, what? There were about 40 similar dresses already on the racks and priced within a clear range. Just name a price, make the sale, keep your inventory moving, and move on with life. I've NEVER encountered anything like this at a vintage store - a clerk refusing to make a sale to a willing customer. The whole exchange was still pleasant - the owner clearly has an eye for quality items and is picky about what she allows into the store. Of all the vintage shops I went in St. Louis, this store had the most consistently strong and selective inventory. It's also the most attractive and savvy in its art direction (pretty letterpress labels, relevant trend articles in fashion magazines posted near items, etc.). But I'd rather have fair prices like those at Ruth's, Retro 101 across the street, or, in comparison, any other vintage shop.
